Andy,
What search qualification do you have defined in the menu attached to the
character field?

I am confused now. I am using the same setup on other fields with no
problem, but for some reason on this form it doesn't want to work.

$MENU$ patterns below version will work in earlier versions of ARS, but
not if the search qualification defined in the search menu contains a dynamic
field reference.

e.g.:

'Equipment Category' = $536870913$

There was a workaround for this, however (see attached).

This workaround should still be valid on later versions of ARS.
However, it would be MUCH simpler to follow Joe's suggestion, and change the
display type to 'Drop-Down List' in the display properties of the character
field to which the search menu is attached (unless for some reason you don't
want the character field to look like a selection field).

HTH,

Andy,

If you hare having the field patterned using $MENU$, why do you
type into it or let your users type into it? Can't you just have the character
field displayed as a drop-list and have the users forced to use the menus?
That's an available feature in ARS version 6.3 upwards.. That would be clean
and you would get what you want to do...

If you are below version 6, and somewhere close to version 4.5,
there used to be a bug with the $MENU$ patterning.. Even valid values would be
rejected. The only fix on that version was to upgrade it. I do not recall a
patch that fixed it except the next upgrade..

Cheers

Joe

DST Patch - What if I don't load it?

2007-03-05 Thread Benitz, Tony : CO IR
Long time reader, first time poster.

I am new to being a remedy admin. The job was thrust upon me when the old
admin left. So my knowledge of the app is VERY limited.

Now we have the DST patch to deal with.

My environment is 6.03 patch 17
on a windows box
with an oracle backend.

My development environment is fried and will not be up for the foreseeable
future. (old admin did everything in live)

I have been told.. Just load it in live. (Good opportunity to learn ?)

My question for the list.. What if I just don't load it?

If I understand things correctly (limited view).
The effect would be that time frames over the time of change would be off by
an hour.

From 11:00 PM on 3/10/07 to 4:00 AM 3/11/07 would be 4 hours.. not five.

The use of Remedy in my shop if very limited. Call tracking system, limited
escalations, no add ins. Reporting is based on volume, not time of
response.

Then what would the impact really be if I just don't load it ?

Thanks for the help with this. I have posed the question to support and our
account rep and have gotten no where.

Re: Portland RUG (Oregon, not Maine)

2007-02-14 Thread Benitz, Tony : CO IR
I have been told that we (Legacy Health System) can host an event. So the
space is not an issue.

As being new to Remedy I would be interested in meeting others from the area
and knowing what everyone else is up to.

I am new to RUGs as well, but I have an open mind and like to learn new
things and meet new people.

Hello,

A few weeks ago as a tangent of a completely different thread, the topic of
a Portland RUG came up. I received a few responses from people that were
interested, but I wanted to see if there were any others out there that
would be interested in attending. And what are your primary areas of
interest?

Last year in Seattle, BMC held a free, half-day version of their Airport
Simulation seminar
(http://www.bmc.com/education/servicemgmt/courses/q-itil-150.htm). I found
it a nice introduction to ITIL concepts. Maybe we could do something like
that here if there was interest? Or anything else. I'm not sure what
people are more interested in, a 3/4 day event, or a 2 hour evening with
friends over a beer kind of thing. Or both. :-)

Anyway, contact me if you are interested and we can work out the details
off-list.

Thanks,

Newbie

2007-01-16 Thread Benitz, Tony : CO IR
I have been informed that I will supporting Remedy in our environment.

There was no knowledge transfer from the outgoing Admin. Nor did they keep
documentation.

There will be no training class, the only thing that has been said is we
might get a contractor to show me around.

The question I have is what would be the best way to come up to speed with
this application?
I have been reading the manuals and searching through what documentation we
have.

Could anyone provide a good way to come up to speed quickly.

Thanks for the help I think I am going to need all I can get.

PS. I don't even have the client yet. Only the web front end. I think we
are on version 6 but I don't know what our patch level is.

Is there a Remedy Admin guide for dummies?
