View Form - Remote DB not available.

2008-05-22 Thread John Kovalcik
Listers,

I have a view form(on ARS 6.3 - Oracle) that is looking at a
remote database table. If the remote database is not available, I get a
nasty Oracle error when trying to access the view form through workflow.
Is there anyway to check if the remote DB is available before I run my
workflow ??

Thanks,

Deleting Fields Above Reserved Range

2008-04-29 Thread John Kovalcik
Listers,

I am cleaning up our modified Remedy Helpdesk application and
want to delete fields that were defined from the original application.
These would be any above the 23000 ID range. Providing there isn't
any related workflow, are there any concerns I should be aware of ?

Large Character Fields

2008-01-08 Thread John Kovalcik
Listers,

I have quite a few character fields that are 255 characters in
length. The majority of them came with the Helpdesk application and are
in the 25xxx field ID range. Would there be any performance benefit in
reducing these to only the necessary size. For example, a zTmp field at
254 that holds only a login ID. Any insight would be appreciated.

User Tool 7.0.01 and Modify All

2007-09-07 Thread John Kovalcik
Listers,

I have run in to a problem doing a Modify all on the 7.0.01 user

records. Has anyone seen this issue ? It doesn't do it in the 6.x
usertool.

Remedy performance Overseas

2007-05-17 Thread John Kovalcik
All,

We are having an issue with performance across the pond to our

there anything that we can do to help performance ?? Any info would be

Indexes - ARS and Oracle do not match

2007-03-06 Thread John Kovalcik
All,

We have just had our DBA's check the number of indexes on a couple
of tables and they don't seem to match what we have defined in ARS. For
example, Oracle might show two indexes when we have 7 defined in ARS. Is
there a way to re-build these in Oracle without having to delete and then
re-define them in ARS ?

They are not join forms Just two Regular forms. And it's rolling back
on warnings - I would understand if they were errors.

John,

By any chance this is workflow actually firing on an Outer Join form?

Is the workflow actually breaking the Join conditions between Form A
and Form B as part of it's processing?

The reason I ask is that I reciently found what I would call an odd
behaviour in ARS with Outer Join forms. Apparently at the end of a
SetEntry (Modify) event the ARS server fetches the Joins 'Entry ID'
value back from the DB. ( I presume this is sanity check to verify
that the pending GetEntry call from the client will work.) If the
ARS server sees that the 'Entry ID' of the Join is no longer valid it
then issues a roleback to the transaction that broke the 'EntryID'
in question.

User Tool and DST

2007-01-24 Thread John Kovalcik
All,

I have not been able to find out a definitive answer whether the
user tool needs patched or not. Currently our user tool is 6.00.01
(patch 1364) . Our server is 6.0.3 and we will be adding patch 20(when
it is good ! ) but I'm wondering if we shouldn't just upgrade the user
tool to 7.0.01 (patch 001).
