error handler and stop transaction

Dear All,

If I build an error handler which performs the set/push field to capture
the data, but don't throw an error, the error is considered as 'handled
successfully' and Remedy continues further operations.

Is there a way to stop further operations when we record error using error
handler? I am facing a problem when I have written error handler to store
custom error message and wanted to respond to third party but there are
other operations performing so I am not able to achieve my result.

Or is there any way we can store Faultstring message before responding to
third party and sending custom message to third party consuming remedy wsdl?

sample data in ITSM

Dear List,

I am going to install fresh ITSM version 9.0 in production environment. My
query is about sample data which comes with installer. Do we required
sample data to check while installing fresh installation because this will
unnecessarily consume user licenses aprrox # 15.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of sample data while ITSM operational?

Email engine not working

Hi Experts,

I am facing below issue in stderr.log. I am able to successfully restsrt
the services of ar email engine but outgoing email not triggering. The
error logs form I am not getting anything.

Hi Neha,

You can change audit style to "Form Style" and after that do the
configuration for field level auditing for the above fields you wanted to
be audited.

When the form is audited, data from the main-form fields configured for
auditing is copied to corresponding fields on the audit form. If there are
fields in the main form not configured for auditing, the corresponding
fields on the audit form are left blank.

Even you can do some customization on audit form if you want some other
manipulations may be for reporting etc.

We are planning to start upgrade from 7.1 to 8.1 latest version of ARS and
ITSM. I was going through documents but came to one doubt.

We have few customization over Help Desk and CMDB in 7.1, so we have to
have choose the upgrade stage called *upgrade arsystem server without
overlay present*.

So can we directly jump from 7.1 to 8.1 installer for upgrade in *without
overlays present* scenario or we have to first upgrade in 7.6.04 and then
only we can go for 8.1?

Looks like the LDAP user credential configured in AREA LDAP configuration
form has been locked. Check the user configured in AREA LDAP form in AD and
unlock. After that changed password need to be change in AREA LDAP form as

Shashi,

Looks like you are using set field or push field in some work flows and
passing value length is increasing as per actual field length. Enable logs
and check which work-flow causing this issue and then you can fix length of
that particular field by looking into that workflow. Hope this help you!

due to escalation some text lines adding in arerror log

Dear Team,

There is one escalation running on so and so time and having two actions
(set change flag and process) running perfectly. However I getting below
lines added in arerror log for each records escalation qualification is
passing.

Sun Feb 09 01:25:01 2014  390603 : Failure while trying to run the
filter/escalation process (ARERR 24)
Sun Feb 09 01:25:01 2014 SET-CHANGE-FLAG 0

Could you please suggest what is the problem?

There are more than 25k active connections showing and 90 % are in
established state connection which are internal between local address
(application) to foreign address (application) with duplicate PID.

We don't have AIE and ITSM. WE just have custom application deployed over
ARS 7.6.04 sp4.

Kindly suggest why too much internal established connections showing.

And its increasing and finally at some extent its not allowing other user
to connect because exceeding connections.

Even its not allowing to restart the ars services and finally we rebooted
the server itself.

There are huge number of open connections (netstat -a) in server and
due to this arserver stops working. Following error getting in arerror
log file. Most of the connections from application side only.

Miscellaneous tli error - System error (Connection refused).

Environment:

ARS 7.6.04 SP4
Windows 2k8

Do we need to do any specific configuration for this? Or this is
existing bug/defect?

Hi,

Forget to mention that we have server group under there are two ars primary
and secondary. And flashboard displaying in primary server in the server
group if I am using either aruser client or either browser client. But in
primary server only in browser its diplaying flashboards not in aruser tool.

I didnt change anything in last few days. Earlier it was working fine in
both browser as well as in aruser tool. But since 2-3 days suddenly stopped
displaying flashboards in aruser tool but thru browser its showing.

setting for flashboards.

flashboard not displaying from user tool

I have 2-3 flash-boards which is populating correctly in web browser but
its not populating via aruser tool. Even in aruser tool it was displaying
few days back but suddenly stopped displaying.

Can any body suggest why behaving like this?

This was my mistake..I didnt check table form and I assumed wrongly.
Actually table was pointing some other form and in that form that record
was still present. Now I wrote filter to delete that record on condition
(status= delete) as well and all things are working fine now. thanks.

table not refreshing correctly

Dear List,

There is some weired issue I am facing. There is a table on home page which
shows all TTs. On TT page there is Cancel button which delete TT record
from db via run process if you want. But after delete still i am able to
see that record on table. table refreshed as well and re logging as well. I
checked in database that record doesn't exist. Even if we double clicked
that record from table it says there is no matching criteria This is
happening in only test environment. In production this is working fine. I
compared logs didn't get anything. Anyone faced this issue?

exception due to may be arrayofstring or list type of data type in output
mapping.

Could you please light some input how to modify the structure? Is it
possible to restructure the external wsdl in our ars compatible format?

load and mapping the fields successfully and created filter as well but
while trying to consume by user tool (while creating request) its throwing
following error.

Hi Robin,

Please ask about the external wsdl or url which remedy will consume first.
Then go through all the operations external system is providing and mainly
which you are looking for. Later on need to do mapping analysis, between
remedy and external system for input and output parameters.

Once your mappings are ready, you can use remedy developer studio and
create filter to consume external system web services. Many more things
related to create web services, you can refer BMC Remedy Integration guide
for the same.

I have installed Midtier and ARS in single box and remedy web page
correctly functioning in Intranet network having firewall.

Will it work over the Internet outside the Intranet if firewall setting we
remove? Or any thoughts?
Do we have any other settings related to firewall from the ARS
application/mid tier side if we disable/enable firewall?

Looking in terms of financial, you can go for Windows 2008 standard OS
rather than going on enterprise. It will save you lot and serve your
purpose. And there would be no performance issue as well. Remaining
specification looks good.

Could find the libjava.sl while running installer on HP Itanium.

Hi All,

I am facing one issue when we run ARSuite 7604 SP3 installer on HP Itanium
Platform getting following error,

"Couldnt find libjava.sl and JRE". Please see attached.

What our team has identified is that the installer tries to pick up
the JAVA for PA-RISC instead of JAVA-ITANIUM while the installer
starts and throws the error instead.

The* question is "how does the installer script works while it starts
and how does it identifies which java version to pick up?*" Is there a
command we can run to elaborate the installer script while it
executes?

We did LD_LIBRARY_PATH is pointing to the 64bit as per dbs confirms, but no
hope.

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/ems/u01/product/10.2.0/lib:/ems/u01/product/10.2.0/lib32
is set like this currently.

Upgrade process for HP-UX Cluster environment

Dear List,

Can anyone suggests me before upgrading AR Server from 7.1 p11 to 7.6.04
sp3?

We have HP-UX cluster environment and having two remedy application node
with virtual host. So while proceeding for the up gradation what should be
the sequence to proceed? In which application node we should upgrade first
in clustered environment of HP-UX?

Is any KB available for the same or any suggestion very much appreciable.

Getting error when running installer 7.6.04 sp3 on HP UX Itanium via Xmanager

Dear List,

When I am trying to run installer  of  AR Server 7.6.04 SP3 "/
Disk1/InstData/VM/ setup.bin" on my HP-UX box, getting following error via
Xmanager.

Launching installer...

Error: Could not find libjava.sl
Error: Could not find Java 2 Rune Time Environment.

And then prompt comes...

Can anybody help me out here. Many Thanks.

My OS: HP-UX B.11.31
Installer:ARSuiteKit_midtierWar_7604SP3_HpuxItanium.tar

BMC Analytics For BSM 7604

Is it Mandatory to install "SAP BusinessObjects XI Enterprise Release 3.1
SP3 or R2 SP5" before installing BMC analystics for BSM 7604? Where we will
get the installer for "SAP BusinessObjects XI Enterprise Release 3.1 SP3 or
R2 SP5" or is this comes along with BMC analytics?. Is this licensed
product?

Kindly let me know if anyone having idea for the same. Do we require any
thing additionally to implement BMC Analytics for BSM? Thanks.

AR System 8.0 and ITSM 8.0 release

Is anyone aware when AR System 8.0 release and ITSM 8.0 release is coming?
Suppose AR System will come then how many months will take to come ITSM 8.0
as well. What would be the interval of time to come ITSM 8.0 after AR
System 8.0? Whats new in AR System 8.0? Please share the ideas.

Junk Characters not accepting Remedy Web Service

Hi All,

Its look Remedy web service only support ASCII type. If suppose third party
(consumer) sends UTF-8 type values in attributes..then our Web serivce
throws exception and not able to create record in Remedy Form.

 Any one having ideas about this.Please help me.

Hi Amey,

In Remedy, Date field stores internally in database as an integer format.
And its count seconds from January 1, 1970.

So, while you are sending data from other database, first convert your date
in to integer. and then map with remedy date fields.

For testing purpose, just send some integer value from stored procedure end
and check the date field is coming or not in Remedy end.
