Under the IIS services Properties, Master Edit Properties of the WWW,
under the ISAPI tab, I moved the Servlet Exec.dll up to be the highest
"low" priority item, restarted IIS services, and it started working. Now
I don't know if that fixed the issue or not, but nothing else was
changed this morning. Something about a gift horse in the mouth and all
that...

** Dear Theo,
A 404 error means that the server has not found
anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the
condition is temporary or permanent. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD
be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable
mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no
forwarding address. This status code is commonly used when the server
does not wish to reveal exactly why the request has been refused, or
when no other response is applicable.
Have you installed the Servlet Exec as an ISAPI or a
service? Also did you try patching the Sevlet Exec with the latest
patch? Also check if you can access any local jsp files on the IIS
server. Hope this helps

Re: SMS Discovery service (UNCLASSIFIED)

2007-02-01 Thread Simmons, Theodore J.
What problems are you having?
I found once I was able to get connection through the SMS Admin Console,
installed on the remedy resource server, get a login put in the SMS
Local Admin group on the SMS server, get read/resource permissions to
the queries and collections through the SMS Admin console, and finally
if you are using SMS 2003, and this may be only for my environment, but
the login Remedy discovery service was using needed to be in the DCOM
local group on the SMS Server.

Now this was all true before I started receiving the latest error.

Re: Mid Tier and Resource on Same Server

2006-11-16 Thread Simmons, Theodore J.
The mid Tier users would mostly be requestors submitting their own
incidents; this would be for a group of about 5000, althought there is a
charge to limit the client ONLY to the Service desk.

There are about 135 remedy client users producing 40 tickets or so an
hour producing approx 6400 tickets/month, and 1000 change/tasks a month

There are 2 integrations running on escalations/view forms.

Just wondering - could you give us some usage statistics like:

- how many web users (Mid-Tier) / hour you have (how many tickets/

- how many Remedy client users / hour you have (hom many tickets/

- how many integrations you have

The reason is - that it sounds like you have some experience in your

Oh, Ted, don't even think about running that combo on anything less than
4 GB of RAM, and for your usage, I would think even that to be probably
on the low end of acceptable. Who would build an 8x server with just 1

That was my first reaction as well. I'm glad Rick spoke up first. 7.x
is a memory hog. Go to 8GB of RAM to be on the safe side.

Oh, Ted, don't even think about running that combo on anything less than
4 GB of RAM, and for your usage, I would think even that to be probably
on the low end of acceptable. Who would build an 8x server with just 1
GB RAM? That makes no sense at all. It isn't adequate for any of the
tasks, much less all of them.

The

Resource

Expected 120 users of ITSM and using the Mid Tier as a Requestor

greater corporate environment of 5000 users. The server would be
a

Both good points, but alas those are the configurations the Windows
folks gave me as choices. I will double check with them to make sure
that low RAM is accurate.

Re: Citizens Response

2006-11-02 Thread Simmons, Theodore J.
I implemented this at a quasi-federal project last spring (CR 5.01), and
it works pretty well out of the box, it is able to automatically create
issues from email (with attachments), respond to customers with
formatted emails, update issues automatically (with attachements)
etc...Although that isn't terribly difficult to do with ARS workflow, it
was nice to plug and play that kind of functionality, although, there
are few things,
1) BMC Remedy is in the process of considering it for End of Life (I
don't think it is supported in version 7.x yet)
2) if you have ITSM installed already, BMC Remedy doesn't recommend
installing it side by side, I did it for ITSM 5.6 and Cit Response 5.1
and I haven't run into problems,
3) the customer base for Cit Response is pretty small, which may be why
they are considering it for EOL. If I was to go back, I would choose
Customer Support, which is similar application. I believe a new Customer
Support is coming out for version 7.x in the next month or so.

Hope this helps, we added a few enhancements to the application for
usability.

Anybody have any experience with BMC's Citizens Response application and
can
give opinions on whether it would be worth investing time\money into?
