Re: Let's discuss best practices on SLM between the SLA and OLA relationship for BMC Remedy

2016-06-17 Thread munesh konda
Hi John,

As child service comes under scope of OLA ,for the same incident ticket
ola gets attached as per ola defined terms n conditions but the sla will
get detached as it's no longer valid.

So the incident can have sla as well as ola attached to same incident but
anyone in active state.

Hello All,

I'm Still Confused. I gone through the Configuration Guide Document and Found
that we can use time zone concept in Business Time Segment form.

Here are the below code used in our Remedy system that calculated the Early
Start & Due Date , this code works well for Australian Time.

Early Start = $PROCESS$ @@: Application-Bus-Time-Add "$Int_CurrentDate Time$"
"0" "2", Which Gives Current Time Stamp from Server.

Due Date = $PROCESS$ @@: Application-Bus-Time-Add "$Int_CurrentDate Time$"
"240" "2", Which Gives Current Time Stamp + 240 mins. So Due Date is 4 hrs

In the Configuration Guide i found that by create Business Time Segments.

"Application-Bus-Time2-Add "startTime" amount amountUnits
TimeSegment1 TimeSegment2 TimeSegment3 TimeSegment4"

I created One and Tried executing the command like $PROCESS$ @@:
Application-Bus-Time2-Add "$Int_CurrentDate Time$" "$Response (min)$" "2"
"$TimeSegmentID$"

It gives the result as "01/01/1970 11:00:00 AM"

Please correct me if I'm doing it wrong or is there some more corrections needs
to be done in the above Business Time Segment form.

Actually, all times in the server are stored in GMT. The timestamp values are
number of seconds since Jan 1, 1970 GMT.

Regardless of the timezone you specify or enter the value in, the value that
the AR System stores and returns is in GMT.

It is the client responsibility to map it to the desired timezone.

This is why setting the User Preference for timezone works just time. The
clients translate to the correct target timezone – whether it is Australia or
New Zeland (or Timbuktu).

Now, you client programs are probably just using system environment settings
and using the timezone of the OS environment in which they are running. They
are using system utilities which automatically adjust the time for the
environment timezone.

If they were not doing this, then all times would have always being in GMT
anyway.

So, if you set the environment to say the US Pacific Timezone, you would likely
find all your utilities would suddenly be doing all operations in PST –
accurately in that timezone, automatically. Again, because the server has all
values in GMT and you are using system routines that are automatically
adjusting.

To fix this, you need to look at the operations being done and determine
whether they should be performed in GMT (and then configure that in your calls)
or in some other timezone (and configure that in your calls). Stop just
accepting the system environment default.

NOTE: This includes calls by OS time calculate functions!

I hope this helps,

Unless things have changed since I worked heavily on date and time functions in
Remedy (including at the db level), they are all stored at the setting of the
server. The client is then responsible for adjusting to the local timezome.

The third party systems will be responsible for figuring out their timezone and
adjusting the server time accordingly.

Re: Possibilities of building the SLA via script &/ or API, if any if can be automated using cron job

2015-06-03 Thread munesh konda
Hello Sagar,

You can schedule the auto build of a service target.

Please check the below link

https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/SLM81/Scheduling+the+building+of+service+targets

*To schedule a rebuild of service targets*

i.
*Login to BMC Service Level Management. Open the Application Administration
Console >> Service Level Management >> Configure Application Settings >>
Preferences.*

ii.*Click Open which displays the SLM:ConfigPreferences form.*

iii.*Initiate a search on the form to display the entry*

iv.
*In the Daily Build Time field, enter the date and time for the scheduled
rebuild or click the ellipsis to display a calendar for selecting the date
and time. The first rebuild takes place at the time and date specified and
rebuilds occur thereafter at the same time every day.*

v.*Save the SLM:ConfigPreferences form.*
*To stop the rebuild, clear the Daily Build Time field.*

I believe this feature is available from Remedy 7.5 version onwards.

Hope this info helps.

Thanks.

Hello Madhu,

Please check the below given BMC published KA link regarding info on DB

Also you will find below note in DB reference guide published for ARS 7.6.04

NOTE
In Microsoft SQL Server 2005, when the underlying database table is marked
for
database replication, you cannot change the field length. If you try to do
so, the
ALTER TABLE command returns this error: Cannot rename the table because
it is published for replication. (SQL Server 15051). To resolve this,
turn off database replication, change the field size, and then turn database
replication on. For more information, see the Microsoft SQL Server
documentation.

https://kb.bmc.com/infocenter/index?page=content&id=KA371443&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1429027171548

This will help you to understand the issues/errors which are faced when the

Re: AREA LDAP SSL

2014-02-10 Thread munesh konda
Hello Dan,

Please refer BMC 7.6.04 Integration document page 402,

About certificate databases:

AR System uses the Mozilla C-LDAP libraries to support LDAP plug-ins and
remote authentication. These libraries enable LDAP plug-ins to use NSS to
establish Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connections with LDAP servers. To do
this,NSS requires the LDAP server's certification authority (CA)
certificate to be in a certificate database (cert8.db file).

To perform the procedures in this appendix, use the command-line certutil
utility, which is included in the Mozilla NSS security tools set (see
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/pki/nss/tools/).

So I don't think you have any option from Windows or Remedy to create the
cert db file.

Thanks.

Re: Error in email logs...resulting in email loss

2013-11-13 Thread munesh konda
Hello Sucharita,

Seems you are able to setup the connection with SMTP host, now you need to
check the value of SMTP timeout parameter set.

Check if connection time-outs after the mentioned time then that's fine.

But you feel that the timeout value is low then you may want to increase it.

What is your AR Email Engine version ? Is it on latest patch ?because there
were some defects related to SMTP timeouts.

Check the below URL

https://communities.bmc.com/message/244679#244679

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Munesh

Re: Error in email logs...resulting in email loss

2013-11-13 Thread munesh konda
Hello

Try to check whether you are having sustained connection with SMTP Host.

How to verify SMTP connection using telnet

<-- Telnet 25

--> 220 computername.domain.com SMTP Server ready

<-- HELO me

--> 250 OK

<-- QUIT

--> 221 Closing Port / Mail queued for delivery

For SMTP authentication, please refer to:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995718(v=exchg.65).aspx

Also check whether you are passing value more than 255 characters for " To
" field on STM:BlockedEmailMessages form.

SEVERE: Value does not fall within the limits specified for the field (max
length - 255) : STM:BlockedEmailMessages : To

Thanks.

Re: Remedy 7.6.04 and Exchange 2013

2013-08-29 Thread munesh konda
You are right there were some issues with exchange 2010.i
would suggest to perform testing with exchange 2013 before you migrate.

On the other hand,it is important to check with bmc support whether they
support 7604 with exchange 2013

Thnks

Re: Re.Adding New Entry in Application List Field in ITSM Home Page

2013-07-25 Thread munesh konda
Rudra,

Login into Developer Studio and go to "Form Properties" of the concerned
form which you would like to add Apps List.

There you will find the options as "Basic/Entry Points " with "New MODE"
and "Search MODE" , check the applicable option and provide the Application
List Display Order number.

SAVE and Login into User tool and verify the same.

It should work with base ARS installation but you need to apply DSO license
before you configure it and test.

Re: CentOS 6.3 Installation Port Mapper Issue

2013-03-31 Thread munesh konda
Nathan,

Did you check the portmapper process/daemon is running on that box.

Also I am not sure whether BMC would support Remedy on CentOS as it is not
mentioned in their Comp Matrix.

But the Remedy would work on CentOS as it using the bin/lib of RHEL...

Thanks.
