Re: IP Name Configuration in AR.CFG

2010-05-07 Thread srinivas madhurakavi
Hi Bruce,

I used this parameter in the ar.cfg file when one of my user complained
about not being able to access menus and data from table fields.
This was one off case where only he was receiving either

1) ARERR [552] Failure during SQL operation to the database : Invalid column
name 'C20006'.

AND/OR

2) ARWARN [311] Field ID is not related to this form : 20006
After a little research into the various workflow components causing
this error, I found that there were multiple AR server-name formats
available (i.e. server long name, short name and IP address) for selecting
the same server name to either build SQL menu or defining a table within
Table property tab. Because of this inconsistency, the server name was not
being resolved correctly hence the errors.

Adding server alias and IP Name parameter fixed the issue as (Axton was
mentioning) it was able to resolve server names within the workflow
definitions correctly.

thanks,
-Srinivas M.

Re: Best new features in ARS 7.5

2009-02-02 Thread srinivas madhurakavi
Trond,

I am sure there are a good amount of features that came with the new release
of ARS 7.5.
But the one that I was excited to see in a demo presented here in one of the
local RUGs has to do with a feature now available in administrator tool (now
called Developer Studio).

The 'Undo' feature in Developer studio lets you go back to a state in case
you have accidentally modified an object. I have not installed 7.5 yet to
check this myself but remember this functionality asked by a substantial
amount of developer community in the past. And now it is available.

Re: best method to hide attributes in a cmdb class

2009-01-21 Thread srinivas madhurakavi
Sri,

If I understand your requirement correctly, these are *endusers* who do not
want to see some attributes on one or more classes. So your starting form
would be (to take the same example: Computer System Class) AST:
ComputerSystem.

Since AST: ComputerSystem form is a self join of BMC_ComputerSystem with
BMC_computerSystem which acts as a regular form you could either
1) Hide the attributes on AST:ComputerSystem form from admin tool or
2) Accomplish it via workflow

As far as I could tell, the best choice of the above two options depends on
the number of attributes you want to hide combined with their
inheritance property (if any).

My 2 cents,
-Srinivas

Re: Job: Kforce / Permanent / McLean - VA / Remedy Developer - Will Relocate

2008-05-22 Thread srinivas madhurakavi
Josh,

There seem to be an important piece of information missing in your post
below as far as all potenital H1-B candidates who would like to apply for
this job.

 For All qualified H1-B Candidates

Freddie Mac has a policy of accepting H1-B candidates where in they will
consider applicants who are currently on H1-B and require H-1B sponsorship
(as there would be a possible change in employer), but only if the applicant
has at least three years of H status remaining out of the original six years
of permissible H status. In order to be considered for permanent residence
sponsorship, the individual must be employed with the company for 12 months
and meet or exceed annual performance objectives established by their
management team. This is a minimum requirement for sponsorship. The decision
whether to sponsor an individual for nonimmigrant or immigrant status rests
exclusively with Freddie Mac.

Hope this additional information helps.

Re: DST Simulated Test - Failed

2007-03-02 Thread srinivas madhurakavi

Peter,

Try restarting the application. Once the ARS 6.3 Patch 20 was applied, we
also ran into the same issue. Its only after restarting AR Server, we
noticed that they are behaving in accordance with DST 2007 changes.

Let me know if this works.

Srinivas.

We finished patching our Remedy ARS 6.3 dev server up to Patch 20 and also
our server team patched our Application dev server's OS for DST.

We adjusted the time on our dev server to March 12 and left the time the
same and I moved my machine's date up to March 12 (left the time the same).

I created a test ticket and the ticket's create date was wrong:

Time on the server was 3/12/2007 1:11:18 PM
Create time saved on the ticket was set to 3/12/2007 2:11:18 PM.

It seems to us that the patch did not work.

Has anyone else been able to simulate this kind of test to verify Patch 20
and verify if it corrects the DST issue?

Thanks

Hi,

I am not sure how many forms are we talking here. May be environment
information (including any OOB application) would have helped.

Anyway, try this (it might be a tedious process):

- you can export all the forms that you are referring
- From the def file, you can decode the permissions at each form (including
at each view level)

Hope this helps

Srinivas

What do I do now?!
