Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: CMDB/Asset Management Training
Rick, Can you elaborate a little bit on the “system data” bit regarding the CMDB? I’m currently running on just ARS. I hear that ARS 9.5 is supposed to come with CMDB. I’m not quite sure what I’m going to be able to do with it. Thanks! Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: CMDB/Asset Management Training
Well, the purpose of a CMDB is to track your system hardware. Ideally, that happens through discovery. Most discovery platforms require root access to servers and such. That can be a significant hurdle for some places. Alternatively, manual entry of CI data can be done. Data consistency can be a real issue there as well. A note on version 9.5... I don't have insider info or anything but I doubt we will ever see 9.5 (unless that number gets reused). 9.5 was going to be AR System with Innovation Suite. After the 9.5 beta a year ago it was decided that Innovation Suite would be its own product and not available to run on a "traditional" Remedy system. Ok. So no “mobile-friendly” version of ARS then? I was so looking forward to converting my forms to where they were actually usable on phones and tablets. Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: CMDB/Asset Management Training
You are not the only person that is disappointed in the change of direction. BMC has reassured on the BMC Communities, even after the Innovation Suite split, that they are committed to continuing to move AR System forward as a (development) platform. Hopefully they have some big surprises for us because I am not seeing it. Much of the last few years has been "use Smart IT if you want modern interface" and "we are not going to implement Dev Studio enhancements because that is not where our focus is" (some of that may have been inferred based on actions, lack of action and tone of interactions with customers). Maybe somebody that is going to T3 will report back some wonderful news? Jason On Thu, Oct 5, 2017 at 6:51 PM, Fawver, Dustin wrote: > ** > > Ok. So no “mobile-friendly” version of ARS then?
