Control Panel Home Page

2008-04-01 Thread Kathy Morris
Hi All,

I have an application list field on the console for the Home Page. How do
you add links to open a form. Before I used to right-click add link and use
an
open window action to open up a form. I have right clicked on the
application list (which opens our incident management, surveys, etc). and I
just see
the attributes (hide/unhide)

Kathy,

The setting to show a form in the application list is done of the form
that you want to show up, not the Home Page itself. Open the form and
select Form Properties from the Form menu. Then check the box for
enable entry point under either new or search and set the integer
value for the application list display order.

Open up the form you want to see on the application list in the admin
tool, open the form properties and set the entry point (search or new)
and the order you want it in the list. It will show the form in the list
per the users permissions set on that form.

Hi Kathy

A couple of extra points for the AL Guide method:

1) If there's only one active link, you don't actually need to include
it in the guide - just specify it as the Starting Active Link.

2) The text in the AL Guide Label field is what shows up as the link on
your home page

Hi Kathy

You have two options:

Open the form you wish to create a link to in the Admin tool, go to form
properties and check the Enable Entry Point checkbox. Set the Display Order
field to control its position in your application list. Go to the default
view of the form, Current View. Properties and the Aliases and Labels tab to
set the text of the entry point to be used in the application list. This
link will open your form in the default view.

The other method which is useful if you want to open a form in a view other
than the default view is to use an Active Link Guide. Create an active link
to open the form in the mode and view you want using the Window Open action.
Create an Active Link Guide and add this active link to the Guide. Check
the Entry Point checkbox on the AL Guide and set the Display Order and
Starting Active Link.

After making either of these changes, close and re-open your home page to
view the new links.
