Re: ITSM 7.5.01 Patch1

2009-09-29 Thread strauss
Every previous patch - especially 7, and 8 and 9, has overwritten some portion
of our customizations to IM, so I expected that and more of the 7.5.x upgrade.
I am now documenting what it takes to restore all of our customizations after
the upgrade, just like I had to do for the 7.0.03 patches in the past. The
modules they completely re-wrote are the biggest hurdle, since our
customizations tend to break the upgraded app.

Re: ITSM 7.5.01 Patch1

2009-09-29 Thread Peter Romain
Thanks Chris,

The hours that it churns even when upgrading from 7.5.01, plus the fact
that it over-writes any customisations because it does a fresh install,
means that I can't apply it at the moment.

Currently BMC Support is quoting tech bulletins at me. If only they would
try it and let me know what happens to them!

Cheers

Peter

Re: ITSM 7.5.01 Patch1

2009-09-29 Thread strauss
I have only applied it to an ITSM 7.0.03.009 system after the AR Server and
Atrium Core were upgraded to 7.5.00.002. It took almost 5 hours to complete:

20 July 2009 - Install ITSM 7.5.01.001 upgrade to applications (minus Asset) {
4 hrs 46 minutes - 12:15 to 17:01 }
logged in as domain admin
Cleared out AR System Email Messages and NTE:SYS NTE Process Control
form
Selected Change and ServiceDesk, not Asset
Install in D:\Program Files (x86)\BMC Software\BMCRemedyITSMSuite (new
location)
Selected the Object Modification logging, which GREATLY increases
install time
Change Escalation queue threads from 2 2 to 2 3

21 July 2009 - Install SLM 7.5 upgrade to SLM 7.1
Etc.,...

It was one of the few 7.5.x installers that actually ran without error on the
first try.

ITSM 7.5.01 Patch1

2009-09-29 Thread Peter Romain
Hi All,

Has anyone tried to apply this patch?

I tried it on two separate Windows 7.5.01 systems and the installer
ignores the installed versions and does a fresh install each time.

I would expect it to just apply the Patch 1 changes as previous ITSM
patches have done.

The documntation implies that it should just apply the patch changes and
the directory structures created by the patch installer support this.

Cheers

Peter
