Re: Looking for a hard coded IP in Remedy
Hi Steve, The Host ID must have got changed when the server was moved to different location. You may have to purge the existing license key to attach it to the new host id of the server. Thanks, Mohan --- Steve M [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: List, It was attempted to move our production server (ARS 4.5.2 Patch 1277) to a new building last week (while I was away at a Remedy training class). So, now I'm trying to find out what happened so that we can get the server moved to the new building. What I need to do is find out if the IP is hard coded in Remedy anywhere? I turned on all of the logging in both the Admin Tool and the User Tool, but didn't find the IP in any of the logs. Is there anywhere else I should look for a hard coded IP? BTW, there is no entry in the host file other than for localhost. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Re: Looking for a hard coded IP in Remedy
Steve, I would say that it is most likely that the server has two nics and the primary nic was changed during the move. I have had this happen. I just had to have the admin set the other nic and the primary and reboot the box. As everyone has said, it is based on the mac address of the nic. The licenses are tied with your NIC or MAC address on your server not the IP. -Original Message- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Steve M Sent: Wednesday, April 23, 2008 8:49 AM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Looking for a hard coded IP in Remedy List, It was attempted to move our production server (ARS 4.5.2 Patch 1277) to a new building last week (while I was away at a Remedy training class). Re: Looking for a hard coded IP in Remedy
From what I understand is that Remedy licenses go by the Host ID is is basically the serial number of the network card in the server. However usually purging the old licenses and getting new ones with your new Host ID usually fixes the problem. -Original Message- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Steve M Sent: Wednesday, April 23, 2008 10:49 AM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Looking for a hard coded IP in Remedy List, It was attempted to move our production server (ARS 4.5.2 Patch 1277) to a new building last week (while I was away at a Remedy training class). Re: Looking for a hard coded IP in Remedy
It sounds like when they moved it they changed what the default network adapter is. Remedy does not use the IP for licensing, it uses the MAC address of the default/primary network card. Re: Looking for a hard coded IP in Remedy
Remedy is not particular about its server's IP address--it's particular about the MAC address. Provided everything was done correctly--DNS was updated to reflect the IP, the server's hostname was not changed, etc.--the server should have come up with no problem. Are you 100% certain that the error was the no licenses error? Are you certain that the ARSystem service itself *did* actually start? Is it possible this machine has two NICs (which most newer servers do) and they simply configured the wrong NIC? -Original Message- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Steve M Sent: Wednesday, April 23, 2008 10:49 AM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Looking for a hard coded IP in Remedy List, It was attempted to move our production server (ARS 4.5.2 Patch 1277) to a new building last week (while I was away at a Remedy training class).
