Hi Steve,

The Host ID must have got changed when the server was
moved to different location.
You may have to purge the existing license key to
attach it to the new host id of the server.
Thanks,
Mohan

2008-04-24 Thread Brian Goralczyk
Steve,

I would say that it is most likely that the server has two nics and the
primary nic was changed during the move. I have had this happen. I just
had to have the admin set the other nic and the primary and reboot the box.
As everyone has said, it is based on the mac address of the nic.

The licenses are tied with your NIC or MAC address on your server not the IP.

2008-04-23 Thread Graham Dyer
From what I understand is that Remedy licenses go by the Host ID is is
basically the serial number of the network card in the server. However
usually purging the old licenses and getting new ones with your new Host
ID usually fixes the problem.

Re: Looking for a hard coded IP in Remedy

2008-04-23 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
It sounds like when they moved it they changed what the default network
adapter is. Remedy does not use the IP for licensing, it uses the MAC
address of the default/primary network card.

Re: Looking for a hard coded IP in Remedy

2008-04-23 Thread Kaiser Norm E CIV USAF 96 CS/SCCE
Remedy is not particular about its server's IP address--it's particular
about the MAC address.

Provided everything was done correctly--DNS was updated to reflect the
IP, the server's hostname was not changed, etc.--the server should have
come up with no problem.

Are you 100% certain that the error was the no licenses error? Are you
certain that the ARSystem service itself *did* actually start?

Is it possible this machine has two NICs (which most newer servers do)
and they simply configured the wrong NIC?
