So far 62 votes, a few interesting suggestions and happily names I don't recognize, which isn't easy. However, it is still only 62. Of 4800 directly registered listers. Hey Natalie, I can see where you are coming from but I think you still can vote for those you think you find useful from your perspective, even though developers like us may or may not agree with you.. You may pleasantly be surprised at how close your choice was to some of us.. Its like voting for a President or a Prime Minister.. You do not really need to personally know everything about economic or current affairs or matters related to to the governance of a state or country. You still have the right to cast a vote, irrespective of how knowledgeable or ignorant you are in those matters, simply because you are a citizen of that state or country you live in and sort of know some qualities that you like or dislike about different candidates AND most importantly because you have the RIGHT to vote being a eligible citizen of that country or state.. As an ARS Lister I think you have every right to express that opinion by way of a vote, as much as we developers here have, in appreciation of a nominee that you prefer to win.. That’s just my two cents.. Daniel, I've bee over 14 year participant of ARList. Unfortunately mostly silent participant. I have vote only few times for MVP. This year I missed an announcement about the voting!!! Maybe due to the reason my ARlist mailbox got corrupted and I missed some of the ARList mails. I've been to RUG only once (during unspoken company Remedy dark time ;-)), once when it was in Europe I think it would have been great loss for the whole community if ARList MVP will be cancelled. I would rather to treat that announcement as rather dark, non-Friday humour message. Dan, please do keep MVP voting Alive. First - Congrats LJ. It was a pleasure meeting you at RUG this year. Second -Thanks to everybody for their list participation. Third - Dan, I think you should do at least ONE more year of awards. If you get the same kind of turnout next year, then ok, but then you'll get to end it on the 20th anniversary. :-) Tim From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arslist@ARSLIST.ORG] On Behalf Of Susan Palmer Sent: Monday, October 22, 2012 12:26 PM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: MVP 2012 - Congratulations LJ Longwing! ** LJ has a definite point about participation in the ARSlist awards. I was not aware that voting was so lethargic. Even if you're not an active poster you certainly gain knowledge from the various posts. When the first requests for nominations and voting are sent you should respond immediately. Not only did Dan and Joel initially set this wonderful facility in motion, Dan has spent many hours over the years maintaining it. Everyone who didn't vote should examine the disrespect they have shown Dan and make sure that if Dan can be convinced to go one more round of voting next year that you all step up to the plate and do the right thing. So little is asked of you to support this service. For many of you this is 'free' support, you need to do your part! And it is a tradition that should not be let go of. LJ ... congratulations for sure on a well deserved win. I've utilized much of the information you have published and I doubt that I'm the only one.
