Re: OT - Twinkies! Oh No!

They were ordered to perform 1 day of 'internal' (or direct) mediation. I
wouldn't hold your breath about anything coming out of the talks.

However, I suspect someone will pick up the Hostess Brand (along with Wonder
Bread - 'helps build strong bodies in 12 different ways') enabling them to get
out from under the union contract(s).

This is particularly true in the case of the Twinkie demise, but late news in
the Chicago Trib business section says Hostess and the bakery workers union are
back in mediation talks.

Hostess made it official today ... liquidation in process. Striking
employees (now I guess you might call them ex-employees) are hoping for
another company to buy the old Hostess and they can retain their jobs and
Twinkies will live on. Hostess stores will stay open for a few days until
stock has depleted and soon shelves in groceries will be filled with some
other product.

From a 'tradition' perspective ... its a sad day!

If we are still doing the conference I am planning on Toronto for 2017
(2014 is in Chicago to keep a promise).

By then we may have a train link to the airport and a decent hotel to hold
it in.

2013 is of course either San Jose or Houston, hope you all got your votes
in. Chicago of course wins for 2014,

they sent in 20,000 votes from former Remedy folks.

Hi Claire,

Don't worry it's Friday here in Australia. That story doesn't look all that

I hope Daniel is stockpiling a supply of twinkies for future RUGs in case
the unthinkable happens. I believe they do keep forever after all,
particularly if they aren't used for human consumption.
