Again another test ::ARS 6.3 against a ARS 6.3 both on Patch 20
I see no issues... ODBC / REPORTS / OLE / AL's all seem to work fine..
I even previous had ARS 7.0 P2 installed and ripped it out cold.
and installed ARS 6.3 P20 on top..
rebooted.. logged in as a user.. .. worked fine.. I don't get it.. I see
nothing..
I suppose something might be there...

Will test ARS 7.0 Patch 02 against a 6.3 server later today.

Issue so far are only the install.
Cannot install any version of aruser as generic vista install -- OS not
recognized .
Go to properties - select compatibility - select xp sp-2 -- Voila.. runs
fine.

I tested fields, most AL's and odbc.. my stuff works fine.. so far..

To add to Susan's inputs, I would risk only using the User, notification and
import clients from an unsupported platform as these would only mean you might
have problems viewing or writing data.

Using the Admin client might be more fatal if used from an unsupported clients
as you never know if it would cause corruption of the object(s) you work with.

The most true answer lies in the compatibility matrix on the website. If it's
not there, it may work but bmc is not supporting it so you're on your own.
Once it appears there you can get support.

Check this post from the Nabble archive; it does seem to work on Vista

Re: Crystal uninstall (was: Vista Supported?)

2007-03-20 Thread Easter, David
The technical bulletin is still correct and the short-term fix of
disabling the uninstall of Crystal/BO in the User Tool is still
scheduled for Patch 002.

Roger is correct. There are no plans to test the 6.03 WUT
running on Vista. Customers wanting to use Vista will need to use the
7.0.01 (or later) WUT. However, since the 7.0.01 WUT can connect to
previous versions of AR System (e.g. 6.03), customers will not need to
upgrade the server to 7.0.01 to take advantage of clients running Vista.
Only the WUT would need to be upgraded.

Latest update I have from QA is that testing should be completed
within the next 30 days.

Can anyone tell me if Remedy supports the use of Vista for the
ARS user tool,
version 6.3? I didn't see anything on the web site,
and have a user asking about it.

I recently asked the same question. Below is the response I got from BMC.
But just to add to the fun, I have a user who tried to install user client 7 on
vista and he is unable to install. error message
"unable to determine operating system"

Windows Vista is currently not supported with 6.3 or 7.x user tools. It is
expected that Vista will be supported against AR System
7.0.01 within 90 days of Vista's general release. There are currently no plans
to support Vista against AR System 6.03.
