Re: import Templates?

2009-04-13 Thread Chris Danaceau
Actually it's done by active links - so no chance of a Merge operation! IIRC
when I did this several months ago manually (w/o the DM tool) I pushed the
Template ID and the Authoring group information over to the
HPD:TemplageSPGAssoc form.

I just took a quick look. When you click on the Select Template link on an
Incident, it opens the HPD:TemplateSPGLookUp form, which is a join form between
HPD:Template and HPD:TemplateSPGAssoc. I'm guessing that second form contains
entries about which support groups are allowed to use the templates on the
Authored For Groups tab on the Incident template. By default, it probably
contains the group specified for Authoring Group. I would be that there is a
set of filters that populates this form when a template is submitted, modified
and probably deleted. However, it wouldn't surprise me if they're not
configured to fire on Merge, which is what would be necessary for that form to
get populated when you import templates.

I hope that helps a bit.

Lyle

Re: import Templates?

2009-04-10 Thread strauss
We have been using the Data Management tool version 9005 (9003 was barely
usable) on a patch 007 system successfully since last September. We installed
it over the 9003 forms and workflow. We primarily use it to restructure
companies, groups, and support staff and their related records as
organizational changes take place, so we have not tried importing templates.
Since it was released June/July 2008 at the same time as ITSM Patch 008, it
would have been developed against Patch 007. I haven’t seen anything to
indicate a prerequisite of later ITSM patches.

Julie, I know that this can be done, because I've done it. Unfortunately,
it's been a over a year ago, so I can't remember the specifics of HOW I
did it, and I don't have the code. You might check to see if the Data
Loader utility does that, and Effective Technologies has a Datalink
application that might, too.

What kind of problems are you seeing?

Hello,

For the Remedy 7.1 environment we are in process of building, we have a
spreadsheet of template data (100+ records) that includes the data to
populate Incident Templates. In attempt to avoid manual entry of this
info via App Admin Console, we thought we'd try doing an import of this
information into HPD:Template. So far, mixed results.. just
wondering if anyone else has done this? And/or if anyone knows if this is
just something that should NOT be attempted... (needs to be done
manually in App Admin).

Thanks for any advice!

Re: import Templates?

2009-04-09 Thread Rick Cook
I wonder if they are set up to be shown in the Help Desk application? Try
exporting one that works into Excel, and see what fields are different
compared to one that doesn't work. I bet that will show the problem. Then
you can base your Excel template on data values you know are complete from
the application's POV.

Well, its good to know that it CAN be done, somehow... ! We didn't
attempt to use Data Management tool for this (which we have used for
Foundation data), just the regular Remedy Import tool. The problem we are
seeing is that the template records that were created via import do not
show up in the Incident Template Selection form in App Admin, only the
templates that were created via App Admin show there. Of course we could
have missed mapping a field here or there, but nothing so far is obviously
"off".

Thanks,

Re: cmdb2.x import templates

2009-01-22 Thread Ahire, Anand
The recommended way is use BMC Atrium Integration Engine (AIE) for this
purpose. AIE 7.1 has CSV file adapter and would be the easiest and
scalable way to load data into CMDB. The mappings you would create could
be used for any future transfer. Also AIE could be used to create
relationships between these CIs. Please make sure that you are using AIE
with latest patches as some issues with CSV file adapter were fixed in
patches.

Thanks

Hi there,

I am trying to create some excel templates, so that I can import cmdb
data in CSV file into CMDB.

What is the best way to generate the templates? Or what is your approach
to this?

I am concerning there are too many fields in each cmdb Class and also
there are over 10 classes I may need to use.

Happy Holidays to all who are working today!!

Thanks,

Jason Niu

Would be easier to create the template as you wish, then map the data with
AIE.

Re: cmdb2.x import templates

2008-12-24 Thread Rick Cook
I would start with an export from existing records. That way you will get the
hidden fields. Make sure you don't import data that is supposed to be created
by work flow.

ITSM 7 import templates

2006-09-18 Thread Chris Rom
Everyone,

I believe someone already posted some ITSM import templates on the list
recently, however, the attachment did not make it through to the digest.

Does anyone know who posted them and when ?

Could someone please send them to me or provide a download link ?

Thanks

Chris
