Re: too many groups for one user
Would creating a computed group that has all or most of the 36 groups for that user? You didn't mention what the goal of adding this person to 36+ groups was. If you are looking to give this person permissions (forms, records, workflow, etc.) then this may work for you. If you are looking to add them to the groups for request assignment reasons then this may not be an option. Re: too many groups for one user (U)
Although I haven't done it, why not create a single notification group and make that notification group a member (nested) of each of the other groups this person needs to be a member. So in reality he/she would only be a member of one group via the user form. Re: too many groups for one user
I suggest not increasing the length of this field; you could run into some nasty problems if you hit the actual limit of the original db colum, which measures against group ids separated by semi-colons. With the 6.0.1 user tool, the field constraints were enforced against the db value (group id's separated by semi-colons). Starting with 6.3, at some point, the field constraints started checking against the interpreted value (group names separated by spaces). The former still holds true with 6.3 and later releases if you do not interact with the form directly (e.g., push fields to user form). The original problem was that the user tool crashed, he already had 36 groups in the group list.
