Here is what the Councilman said of the new agreement:

Am I satisfied with this agreement? Yes.

I know he has many fans on this board. What say you about this?

I just read it too and I sent Jim an email respectfully disagreeing
with him and pointed out in detail why. I have already outlined the
same details here so I will spare the group, but in brief,

No financial guarantees for total restoration
Litigation escape clause still in Force Majeure
Gave up right to declare Default on the issues in supplemental agreement
No specific financial penalties for not meeting total restoration
deadlines
Too little money held in escrow
Selection of escrow agent at sole discretion of developer
etc.

Sorry I miss all the fun about the insurance issue I brought to the
attention of the boe at the march special meeting. Yes Yes another fine
job by our past and present UNION did not want the insurance changed After all
there are board members who only vote pro union and pro teacher nothing wrong
with that but I thought we were the voice of the children.

If there are so many Pro Union Boe members, why do they always seem
to vote in favor of the Chief School Administrator, and not the
Union? As for the Insurance fiasco that started two years ago, you
know as well as I, that it wasn't the union that stopped this one. As
I stated earlier, the BOE would have benefited the first year, but it
would have been a debacle after that with the BOE begging to get back
to the SHBP. And you also know that they would never let us back in
once we left.

Best of luck. We may not have always agreed 100% of the time, but I
hope that you had a the same respect for me that I had for you in your
position.

Re: [AsburyPark] BoE Elections - 4/18-Tonight on Asbury Radio

2006-04-13 Thread restore881FM

Asbury Park's Board of Education Candidates have been invited to appear on Asbury Radio tonight.
We have confirmations from Greg Brewington, Susan Basaha and (by phone) Geneva Smallwood. However, there are four other candidates, whocould show up.But we have plenty of questions about how the schools are being run now and about how the $90 million budget is being scrutinized.
Susan worked as a guidance counselor for APHS fora year before deciding to resign so that she can run for the board. We're very interested in hearing her observations.
If you have questions or statements of your own, please call in, 732-775-0821.
We'll also be talking with Martin O'Shea, a journalistwho's written for the NYT, and several other NY dailys, who is very involved in promoting new legislation topass an Open Public Meetings Act. Transparency in the way the Board is conductedhas beena majortopic of discussion.
Hope you'll tune in tonight!
Thank you!
