so saturday night around 11 we wind up at McCloones. And park by the WB spot 163... I took out my dollar and walk over to the pay station behind S. Water. Openthe slot to insert the $ and after two minutes, realize you have to insert the $ in the slot udner the arrows...ok, I had to kneel down and hug it so my knees didn't give out. once I got that part down (not the first time), I hit the button for my receipt- but nothing came out. Walked over to the officer and let him know. Said it was probably out of paper - but no to worry, as it's in the system... We left around 12:30 and other people wer still putting money in. They were younger and I didn't see them complaining about putting $2.00 in the thing. Those parking spots are probably one of the best investments AP has made in years. Yahoo! Hi All, The Environmental and Shade Tree Commission has teamed up with the Sunset Lake Commission for a combined beautification project for Sunset Lake and the surrounding areas. Our current project is the strip on land by the 5th Ave foot bridge. The Department of Public Works (DPW) tilled the land for us, and now we need donations for the mums we want to plant there. I know that there are power grabs left and right, but I just can't get myself to believe that it is not our own fault. As Americans we are constantly distracted by the superficial, disconnected from our communities, we avoid genuine involvement with our local governments and we provide wealth to the companies that screw us in the end. We are intellectually lazy and narcissistic. We care only how we look, what we drive and how that compares to others. I blame American anti intellectualism for a big chunk of that and am amazed that elite could be considered a derogatory remark. Do we criticize athletes for extraordinary skill in the physical realm? To quote M Dowd's latest piece Elite is a good word, it means well above average. I'd ask them what their problem is with excellence. I was raised to believe there is something excellent about being an American. I personally fall far short, but I am getting better at ignoring those who try to swat me down. thank you john. In the bag of tricks of any fascist,I imagine is the constant attempt to shut others up. so is there too much of a leap in this thread comparing the national bailout to AP's bailout...what does it mean if we have a socialist/fascist city? would anyone be up for a community gathering to discuss the potential creeping fascism or even just the dang budget?
