I live right around the corner from that building. If properly

into something nice.
Wouldn't that be better then an empty lot?
I'd rather see viable housing then a vacant lot. The vacant lots
are kinda depressing.

Its just not reasonable that a developer would be willing to spend so
much money to rehabilitate such a large and run down structure... I
would imagine the rooms are small and the layout is outdated. In
most cases like this, its cheaper to knock it down and start from
scratch.

If you clear all of the people out, and rehabilitate it, and still
sell it as affordable housing, the developer loses money, so why take
on the project in the first place... the only way a rehab would work
is if the rents are increased and the rooms turned into expensive
units... and I cant imagine the building is suited for that.
Elevators, corridor widths, ceiling heights, plumbing, electrical,
fire protection, among countless other things would need to be
replaced and retrofitted to meet codes and standards of luxury... it
just wouldnt make sense to rehab this structure...

So the choice really comes down to either leaving the building as use
as a walk up street pharmacy or demolish it to improve the value and
quality of life for properties surrounding it.

Someone should contact the historical society and have them go through the
places, before someone starts selling all the stuff on ebay, for instance, the
carbon arc light movie projectors, which should be saved, since it seems that
the developers have no use for the buildings..

Of course you're either joking or dillusional. I've never seen
anyone so quick to tell the world that what someone else has paid to
do is wrong. From lighting to landscaping to building color and
construction you do nothing but criticize the efforts of the
investents being made while investing nothing in your own personal
disaster area. I don't agree with everything that has been done but
who (other than yourself) would ever expect to. But I also disagree
with someone who has so much time to spend crapping on everyone
else's investments while making none of their own.

This is an internet forum... If someone doesn't want to reveal their

privacy. None of us are in charge and are responsible for anything
done in Asbury Park, so dont be so friggen critical when someone has an
opinion of something here... because even if you think its a stupid
opinion, that opinion is having no affect on whats going on at the
beachfront. If you have a problem with something, go to the source...
and if the source ignores you, and theres nothing you can do, then let
it go. Because its a city were talking about here... and most of it is

Yes throw away the refrigerator because some food in it went bad instead of

properly

Just what we need ... another tax ratable leveled and turned into a vacate lot.

You should think before typing.

I find it odd that they removed these things... we didn't hear of the

If the buildings are being demolished soon, why are they taking things
off of them... why not just demolish everything then throw them in the
dumpsters with the rest of the building. Something doesnt seem right.
I think one possibility is that they are just going to paint both of
the buildings completely gray or white or something, like they've
horribly done to some other buildings, most notably their offices.
Another possibility is that they are going to reuse the coming
attraction signs on other venues like the Wonder Bar etc, and the
lettering for the Baronet was just saved like the Metropolitan Hotel
signs.
