Also, Werner, if you don't mind my asking, what was the context of

asking around as an interested neighbor? What specifically turned you
 off about the staff?

- Not likely that the credit crisis is a cause, the purchase/renovation took
place several
years ago. The owner is said to be very well off financially.

- I visited representing an internet company that has equipment installed in
the building.
I needed to service and retrieve some of the installation. I was told that it
was all thrown
away and that if anything is left its now their property.

I offered to show their IT manager the equipment and map out the LAN wiring
that I had
installed to help them make use of it. No interest, it was all removed and
thrown away. Clearly a lie since I have remote access to the equipment and the
City uses some of it for
the web-cam.

The staff was just plain rude and dismissive

Werner

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Sounds to me that while a lot has changed ... a lot
hasn't.

What's the state of the Berkley? I remember that there were
supposed
to be renovations any comments? I've missed my summertime
Shore fix nearly two summers running. I'm thinking about a
road
  trip.

  Thanks

They have applied for a liquor license, they need a minimum number
of rooms available
 to qualify (100 I believe).

The reviews at tripadvisor are not good.
My experience dealing with the staff is not good.
A shame since it could be a 1st class, classy place.
Appears to be a sloppy patch job.

From being inside there, I can agree that the job done to BCH is a
sloppy patch job. The lobby and foyer and ballrooms look very nice,
although they never really looked bad before the takeover. The rooms
are supposedly nicer inside, but alot still needs to be fixed. Then
just step into one of the elevators... you feel like you are going to
fall to your death. The outside is a disaster... the parking
situation is a mess, the facade of the building is patched all over.

The fact that there is a question of whats going on with the hotel
just goes to show what kind of state its in... it was promised to be
improved with $50million but it still looks like the same run down
hotel it was before the new owners took over.
