Good work Garrett. Our FD is a big payroll but well deserved. They do a real good job of protecting us and our property. I am not ruling out improperly discarded smoking materials as the cause. Thank goodness for the quick response of our fire department. This could have been a disaster for the boardwalk. As you can see they had to cut several holes in the boardwalk to expose the underside to extinguish the fire and also to gain access underneath. The city council has given deadlines as far as the beach front is concerned why would a fire take away from that? Stop the BS! Garrett Giberson Jr I respond this on the other group: Garrett, Your wrong on many of your points on your posting. I see you did not post your response on the other list. The shame is on you. On this list you feel safe? One of the problem in AP, if you do not have the timeto stop by city hall during the dayto collect information, it may take all day to get a call intothe building. How many of you tried to call into city hall and have nobody pick-up or get a busy signal? Also was or was not the firehouse evacuated for the last 2 days? Why did you say stop the BS, did you read in the papers that the city council has given deadlines as far as the beach front is concerned. On the other A P yahoo group, it was posted thatrenegotiations may not be going so well as of last week. All I am doing isgetting people to the council meetings. Garrett, if you were not being defensive about something, my posting would only have been read by a few people on the list. The lasttime you where concerned about my postingwas abouta fire on 3rd Ave. Something about water and working fire hydrants to put out a fire quickly.A year latera home ownersaid something on the list, that fire on 3rd cost her and her partnerover a $100,000.00 out of pocket. There you go again Jerry spouting off at the mouth just like the rest of the malcontents in this city. Garrett as a city official, you have lots privilegeinformation that only you need to know, which is not public information, yet.No one is asking you to share your facts. You did not offer any factsabout a fireto the group. A fire? It was one of the biggest in recent times. TV coverage and all. Even the policeare investigating the remains of the 2 hotels. So therefore, you should not be name calling on any list. The public should be able to ask questions withoutso much reaction.Drama? Passionate? Something is very wrong. YAHOO! I don't know what you're talking about. I have nothing to do with the running of that list, and I didn't know it was closed.Original Message Subj: [AsburyPark] Re: Fwd: [AsburyParkGLH] two South West opinions Date: 5/10/2005 12:27:30 A.M. I give up, what am I looking for on this spyware-riddled site? I find the same info for Stuart as I do for Catherine Mellina, John Loffredo, Jon Corzine, and my high school Latin teacher, who taught me that Factum, the neutral past participle meaning to have created, is a different word than Factorium, an olive oil press. --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello [EMAIL PROTECTED], In reference to your comment: (check out zabasearch.com). Re: [AsburyPark] Re: Fwd: [AsburyParkGLH] two South West opinions
Man, this is getting to be very esoteric. Both words are from facere, to do or to make. Details and source below: Fact [Latin factum, deed, from neuter past participle of facere, to do.] Factory [Late Latin factoria, oil press, mill and Medieval Latin factoria, establishment for factors, both from Latin factor, factor. See FACTOR.] Factor [Middle English factour, perpetrator, agent, from Old French facteur, from Latin factor, maker, from facere, to make.] The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Third Edition copyright © 1992 by Houghton Mifflin Company. Electronic version licensed from InfoSoft International, Inc. All rights reserved. I remember this from a lesson in graduate school: The sentence "Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492" was on the chalk board, and we were to discuss the "truth" of this fact. Every word in that sentence except inturned out to be debatable. Was it Columbus or the Vikings or...? Discovered would amuse the natives who had been here for millennia. 1492 is a Christian numberwhich differs from the Chinese, Islamic, Jewish, Mayan, etc. The point was that facts are manufactured or constructedfrom a particular point of view. My apologies to the list. I didn't think I would be asked for a detailed explanation. I still think the quotes made the point best.
