[asom] Re: abut NRA criticism on Assam
Sir(Mr.B. Barua) is more than correct! in fact it seems that NRAs are more concerned about everything happening back home more than the people actually residing there at the moment... at least they try to keep trace by any available means... LapTop, internet, TV, news papers or giving a call to anyone in Assam if something comes up...bad or good. And they have to do this b'coz Assam these days is often in the media for so many (wrong!!) reasons... you never know when and where some one may ask you a question on current affairs regarding your state and if you can't answer that...you are sure to get a pitiful/stern look And regarding the money of the NRAsi think its the same money in terms of quantity what some people are earning in Assam itself by using so many available means... money is always money... it does not know its origin and its destination ...what it knows (?) you may think the path it follows...the hands it changes...and in between the work it does... so.. i appeal to all my people...please don't hanker after the billions or trillions of money anyone is making... but instead put your hands together for some cause so that we can have a revolution of sort to make our state developed, beautiful and great. debojyoti --- --- In assamonline@yahoogroups.com, bhaskar barua <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: see http://groups.yahoo.com/group/assamonline/message/2852

That certainly makes sense. If you can't (don't) help, then don't complain. Manoj --- Gautam Choudhury <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: I think Bhaskar Barua has missed the point! Re: [asom] abut NRA criticism on Assam
Many of us left Assam several decades ago, then left India for our own reasons. Some have gone back and others will in the future. Some have decided to call their new country their home. The world is small due to modern means of transportation and communication that one can live in USA and still stay involved in activities in Assam up to some extent. Where your heart is what really matters. Countless Americans, with no connection to Asia or Africa, are working for betterment of life in those continents. Why? Because they feel it is their moral obligation to share some of their knowledge and wealth. There are no billionaires and there are only a few millionaires in the NRA community. So investment in Assam from this group will never be big. However the willing NRAs can and will share their knowledge to make the common citizen's life in Assam a little more productive and enjoyable. The connection between interested groups in Assam and USA is slowly getting established. There is nothing on a big scale to hit the newspapers but low key projects have been completed. Why on earth do you hanker after the billions or trillions of NRA money ? It's their own money.. earned through hard work. Whether they want to invest in NE shd be their SOLE DECISION. I also stand by my statement that "Comments against NRAs are made only by those people who are themselves unable to go out and are stuck in dead end jobs here. If they want to contribute towards development of Assam let them work sincerely here. It would be better if people based here at least work properly without indulging in corruption." Because unless people staying in Assam do not make it a better place, talented people will always go out for better opportunities. COME ON, GIVE US A BREAK AND LET THOSE OF US WHO ARE STAYING HERE STOP PRETENDING TO BE HOLIER THAN THOU. IF WE CANT GO OUT IT DOSENT MEAN THAT WE SHD USE THE GARB OF PATRIOTISM TO LAMPOON THOSE WHO HAVE DONE SO. USA wanted computer engineers & that gave opportunities to those who are computer engineers. SO what's the big hue & cry about patriotism & development of Assam. They are just people like us. They are doing their job & we shd do ours. Bhaskar Barua Asst. [asom] unfortunate but can we do something
hi fellow group members, everyone, who is reading Assamese newspaper regularly, must be aware of the fact that many people having trouble due to the unfortunate drought. people are dying because of not being able to afford food. as far as i can analyze, it can lead to the following dangerous problems (1) people may become robbers + more and more people will join the militant groups. (2) flesh traders may use this opportunity to convert innocent and unwilling girls to prostitutes. i am not sure if donation by only us will help. we should form an organization (ahh... not again!). then we can form small group of people to handle the donation works according to place( i am sure most of us are outside of Assam). some people in Assam can then utilize the money to distribute food plus do some development works so that at least a few people can be engaged in some production works leading to more fund generation. it may have a good future effect. what do you say? n.b.: sorry if the topic has been already discussed. i am very new to this group.
Re: [asom] Outrageous Auto RickShaw Fares in Assam
I don't agree with what Mr. Pradeep has said he must be trying to mention about the pre-paid auto rickshaw services available in Delhi... but otherwise,Auto Rickshaw service in the Capital of the country is also in a very pathetic state...commuters are always taken for a ride by these people who are a breed in themselves, you can't help but comply to their demands if you want to avoid any unwarranted situation or brawlso, try and keep a safe distance from these hooligaans as far as possible...never mind where you are in India...or for that matter who on this earth you are. b'coz you never can change these people who are having some common basic characteristics irrespective of location, caste and creed so,either you have them for a ride or be prepared for one yourself debojyot - moderator appended, assamonline - From: Dibya <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Mon Dec 4, 2006 11:10 pm Subject: Re: [asom] Outrageous Auto RickShaw Fares in Assam Guwahatir atuowalla all graduates, MA, Phd holder; so rates are high.
