RE: [asterisk-users] Re: FW: zaptel 1.4.0 on Fedora Core 6 x86_64
Tzafrir all interested on it: After tried another options as CentOS 4.4 Server that didn't work, since I went back to hardware unstability as in FC4 I decide to retry FC6 x86_64. After install it, I run yum update yum, then yum update, then yum install kernel-devel. Then yum install kernel-devel-xen. This time I decide not to make the symlink to Linux26, since there was a lot of different opinions about if you need it or not. And then, I install zaptel-1.4.0 with ./configure, make menuselect, make all, make install make config. No more errors, it loads and works. Now I can start to play with the tdmoe and res_snmp, wich I couldn't get the xxx of the menu. Thanks, and I hope this time invested save someone else their time. Ok, I understand about the the wrong link, and I agree with that. There are no kernel-devel-xen. I also tried with yum install kernel-devel-xen and there was no match for that. But I found That the right one is kernel-xen-devel, which I already finished installing. I find out that there are no xen-headers or headers-xen. Ok, let 's go one at the time: 1. I didn't build any rpm. I just install zaptel, libpri asterisk 1.4 2. I can run asterisk, that is what I mean that everything goes OK, No ERRORs on compilation. Asterisk works. However, if I try to run zaptel/ztdummy, I cannot since modprobe zaptel reports FATAL: Module zaptel not found. 3. I modified since I saw a couple of recommendations about this problems, and several recommends to modified the ztdummy.c 4. RE: [asterisk-users] Number forwarding and porting?
This is obvious (However not an Asterisk question): You need to ask your old cell provider to port the number to the new one. Also, in the meantime you need to ask to forward the number to your new number. However, since there is nothing forced to him to do that, this is going to happen if your old provider is willing to do that. There are a lot of provider that can make your life miserable when it start something like this moves. RE: [asterisk-users] Asterisk 1.4.0 (release) and G.729
No, I didn't said a new machine. I have a license with 23 active channels for G.729 for testing purposes. I only erase the old configuration before recompile it, since I was doing tests with the beta-2 release where the license was working. So, the only thing I didn't delete was the /licenses directory (/var/lib/asterisk/licenses). I'm using an AMD Athlon Dual 3800, so I'm using the 64 bits x86_64 code. After finishing installing everything, however I put back the codec formatxx.so files on /usr/lib/asterisk/modules And then go the console, I don't see any reference to G.729 on the list. If you use them in a machine with a different network configuration (or change the network configuration of the machine asterisk is running on), you need to re-register. You can do this by running the registration application again (can only be changed once without speaking to digium). The problem I'm having, the number of licenses show up correctly but as soon as the codec is in use, there is no sound and the call drops. The codecs I'm using are from: ftp://ftp1.digium.com/pub/asterisk/g729/asterisk-1.4/32-bit/i686/codec_g729a .so etc. The module loads correctly (afaict) without reporting any errors and if you query the number of licenses, it appears to work. [asterisk-users] Same issue, different way to ask.
Since nobody answer my previous question (It looks like g.726 is a bad word). I have this scenario: One box with Asterisk 1.4.0 beta 2 IAX to anothers Asterisk working properly. As an ATA I have only one Grandstream HT496. Two lines on the ATA 727 726. From outside I can call any of those two extensions if: I defined both as ulaw (G.711) One as ulaw and the other as G.729 Only one at the time if I define both as G729 Only the G711 if I define one as G726 and the other as G711. No way to make calls between the two extensions if both are G726, or both are G729 Or if one is G726 and the other is G729 or ulaw. I allways get codec not match or invalid on the console. Grandstream claims that they can handle two g729 calls at the time ( I never was able to do this), and even when I change the rtp.c the G726 is not working at all. (I 'm not sure but it looks like is more an Asterisk problem, since the modification was made for Sipura boxes, but even when other phones, after the 1.2.6 we have fast busy problems on those devices with that code) So at this point. if someone has any other experience that want to share I'll appretiate it. [asterisk-users] FW: G.726 on Asterisk 1.4.0
This is what I found today googling on the Web, also I post it now in order to save time to others: The G726-32 codec: * It has been determined that previous versions of Asterisk used the wrong codeword packing order for G726-32 data. This version supports both available packing orders, and can transcode between them. It also now selects the proper order when negotiating with a SIP peer based on the codec name supplied in the SDP. However, there are existing devices that improperly request one order and then use another; Sipura and Grandstream ATAs are known to do this, and there may be others. To be able to continue to use these devices with this version of Asterisk and the G726-32 codec, a configuration parameter called 'g726nonstandard' has been added to sip.conf, so that Asterisk can use the packing order expected by the device (even though it requested a different order). In addition, the internal format number for G726-32 has been changed, and the old number is now assigned to AAL2-G726-32. The result of this is that this version of Asterisk will be able to interoperate over IAX2 with older versions of Asterisk, as long as this version is told to allow 'g726aal2' instead of 'g726' as the codec for the call. Now, I can complete a call but I have now audio yet. I believe that I need to restore the original rtp.c and recompile it. I hope this help someone else... Today before to find the new information: Since nobody answer my previous question (It looks like g.726 is a bad word). RE: [asterisk-users] FW: G.726 on Asterisk 1.4.0
I downloaded this two days ago from digium ftp. It reports to be 1.4.0-beta2. I also have the g726nonstandard=yes on the sip.conf file. Now, do I need to modify or not the rtp.c that is on /main directory? I already checked, I don't have audio on g726, with both ports on g729, and with both ports on ilbc. I have audio with one port in g729 and the other on ulaw, or both on ulaw. I don't see any rtp traffic on the previous cases. Steve, It seems like you don't have the full sources on your linux box. Do you have a directory /usr/src/linux, which is a soft link to /usr/src/kernel/2.6.18.-1.2849 ? If not, or if the directory is empty means that you need to complete your sources first. If I need to use Asterisk, and the passthrough doesn't work, nothing is going to work. Now, If I can get passthorugh working, may be in the short future I'll not going to need the Cisco anymore. Before to do anything else, upgrade your FC5. It is known issues with older FC5 versions where zaptel doesn't create a device. I suffer that on the past. Just run yum update, then start everything again. By the way, if you finish with make config after make install, it is going to install all that you need as a service. RE: [Asterisk-Users] instalacion
[Asterisk-Users] res_snmp
I know that I asked this before: I need to add res_snmp to a working 1.2.7. Can I add it to the res directory, modify their makefile and compile everything again? When I tried to install everything from svn, I got messages like my zaptel is too old, and also the same for libpri. By the way, if you download from trunk, everything is the same download following the web page instructions. Is any way to install the res_snmp.c module without downloading all the svn for the trunk? I already have a production box on 1.2.7, and I realize that res_snmp wasn't inside the core. Due to I had recompiled a couple of times due to the inclusion of the SpanDSP on it, I tried to minimize all that I'm going to put on top. RE: [Asterisk-Users] fc5 and link to sources?
Rich, Check what is the content of /lib/modules/2.6.15-1.2054-FC5/build? If it is empty, then you need to do yum install kernel-devel again. Also you can check running uname -a to see if you have the same release that the one that you're checking. RE: [Asterisk-Users] Problem with installation of rpm's, Please help me.
As you can see on your link, the reference on the voip-info web site is for Centos 4.1 I recommend you to compile asterisk instead of running the rpm install. That is going to give you a more accurate idea of what is going on with the modules that you need to be able to run asterisk. All that you get are errors that seems to be loops, you cannot need asterisk 1.0.9 to install asterisk 1.0.9, something has to be hiding the real problem. This was too fast. It works the first time. After I did the make config for asterisk, especting to load it as module (But before removing the modules that I don't use = everyone but wct1xxp) It failed to load both wct1xxp and asterisk. Only zaptel, and at least 20 times the mpg123 ( due to all the times that asterisk tried to reload). However after the make config, I run service asterisk start it worked. Any ideas??? Hi, I believe that this should be for Steve Underwood, but just in case some else can shoot me too. After trying to make the fax work during long time, and due to new modifications on our system, I would like to ask: Spandsp it is supposed to work same way if we have a TDMoE link between the asterisk box and the PRI? We 're going to split functions, so we can create a bank of PRI, and a cluster for databases on Realtime Voicemail. So, Asterisk is going to be running without the overhead of the PRI. RE: [Asterisk-Users] Pri Gateway Hardware
As far as I know, you define the interface to TDMoE when you choose the zaptel driver to work with. One of the options is Zaptel over Ethernet. RE: [Asterisk-Users] Failover Device?
Do you need failover on wich side? PRI or Asterisk? Both? Straight to the last option: PRI: the best if you have more than one PRI is to do hunt on the provider side, so when one is full or down, all calls are going to be directed to the second one. Asterisk: Do redundancy, so you need to have a second Asterisk box ready for failover, taken all the traffic of the first one in such case. You can do Hearthbeat, or DNS handling for this. I never try to run asterisk in a Cluster, that can be a third option. Any experience on that direction??? Yes, We do that on that way. But doesn't mean that you cannot split the PRI on one box, and do the ipbx on the other one. You can use both channel as G.726/32 at the same time, or lower than 32. Is the best solution we found. RE: [Asterisk-Users] Does IAX2 Trunk Work between IAX and SIP
As far as I know, if the second server has only sip, it is going to be difficult to connect each other. If that is the case, yes it is going to save bandwith. Your total bandwith always it is going to be 0 kbps. RE: [Asterisk-Users] Starting our own ip-telephony service?
OK, From a provider: How do you think that you re going to build your connection to the Outside pstn world? Do you have a regular telephone line, or you are gong to connect yourself to a carrier through an IP Trunk? This is your first point. You have already an Asterisk box, I assume from your non good experience. How is that box setup? How many lines to the outside world are you going to have? This is for start to think about your needs.
