compatibility with * is required.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Why doesn't anyone make a wireless ATA? Am I the only one with a need

RE: [Asterisk-Users] Re: So you all think VoIP sypply is warm andfuzzy

2005-07-19 Thread Garrett Smith

I though I would
post an update for everyone on what DOES and DOES NOT come with every Mediatrix
product.

Every Mediatrix
product, EXCEPT the 2102 comes with a CD. The 2102 does not come with a CD.

As per Michael in
the Mediatrix Sales Department, the CD and provisioning tool is a separate part
number that needs to be requested at the time of purchase, and ordered in
addition to the unit. Because this is a service provider unit, Mediatrix and
their distributors DO NOT include the CD and PROVISIONING tool unless it is
ordered.

Why? Because once
you get one CD there is no need to keep receiving them, when ordering in bulk.

So, if any of you
plan to order the Mediatrix 2102 from anyone, make sure you ask for the CD at
the time of purchase.

I would like to
thank Mr. Schelin for bringing this to our attention and we will be updating
our site to prevent this sort of problem from occurring again.

If anyone has any
further questions about the 2102, or how to order one with or without the CD,
please contact me offlist.

Thanks!

Real scary who
Don't bash my company. You've never used us. I test products for deployment so
my customers don't have to call in for help. When I have to waste my time
hunting down software then I get mad. Mediatrix has been great about getting
this software to me. There is a limited web server built in to their products
but you can not provision it without their software. And the person who said
this was not the correct forum to complain to, your right. I'm sorry to all of
you for informing you about the business practices of a supplier. I believe now
that someone removed the standard provising cd that is shipped with every
Mediatrix product. So everyone, make sure you receive all that you've
paid for.

I'm ending this thread now.

I do not think, but then again I have been wrong before, that Jay was
comparing VoIPSupply to LiveVoIP. I believe that he was comparing Mr.
Schelin's company to LiveVoIP in the early stages.

We have been around for a few years enjoying enormous growth in revenue,
profit, and overall size quarter after quarter. Comparing us to what
LiveVoip was in its early stages is like comparing apples to sandpaper.

I dont agree. I have only orderd from them once but they delivered quickly.
They are selling hardware which doesnt have much room for markup but it does
have a whole lot more room than selling cutrate minutes. Both business
models are based on volume but selling boxes has alot more room for margin
than minutes.

RE: [Asterisk-Users] So you all think VoIP sypply is warm and fuzzy

2005-07-18 Thread Garrett Smith
All:

First I would like to apologize to all of the list members for having to be
subjected to this. This is not the forum that we would like to use to solve
customer problems. We are here to help and contribute to this community and
do not wish to add clutter to this list.

Mr. Schelin et al:

The Mediatrix 2102 is a carrier grade gateway that *should be plug and
play*. When I contacted Mediatrix distribution, they stated that this unit
DOES NOT ship to VoIPSupply.com with a configuration CD and that it *should
be plug and play*. If it does not ship to us with a CD, then we do not ship
it to the customer with a CD. I will be contacting Mediatrix tomorrow about
this, and will update everyone when I get an answer.

I did manage to receive the configuration manuals for this device. I did not
see any mention within them of a configuration CD. I have forwarded this
information to you, off of the forum. These manuals should be enough to get
this unit configured.

For future reference, if any of you need customer service, then speak with
customer service. They are available from 8am until 7pm est. Technical
support is not customer service. Tech support will not respond to you unless
you have purchased a support contract, or have been directed to them by a
sales executive, or a customer service representative.

Again if you have a problem with your order, first contact your sales rep.
He should be able to fix the problem, or point you in the direction of the
individual that can. If you ordered online, call 800.398.voip. Speak with
one of our customer service reps, or inbound sales executives. They will be
able to fix your problem, or point you in the direction of someone who will
be able to correct the problem.

If all of this has proven to be unsuccessful (within reason) then contact me
directly, and I will try my best to fix the problem. My details are found
below and the extended version can easily be found by searching the list
archives.

It is our goal at VoIPSupply.com to continue to offer the best prices,
customer service, and technical support. We again thank the community for
their business and support!

Thanks,

GS

Here is a letter I sent them for my $150 paper weight.

Dear Voipsupply, As a small service provider, using you company for the
first time, I'm very disappointed that you have removed the
configuration CD that should have been shipped with the Mediatrix 2102
just to get a few more bucks. I have contacted mediatrix and they have
informed me that the CD's is shipped in every 2102. If I don't here
back from you shortly and receive the configuration program that should
have shipped, I will return it back to you for a full refund and express
my views to the Voip community. As of now I've herd of nothing but good
things about your customer support. I've called and left messages to
your support team. I waited 7 days for this unit and have no way to
configure it. Email me the CD.

right?

TWO screw ups in the shipment.
1.) It was shipped to the Bill-To address. Since there is no
one there
during the day I had to sit and wait for it lest it not be delivered.

This screw up has to do with the person that ordered it, because they
didn't have the ship to address on file with their bank.

This was not a paypal transaction.
The PO had BIG BOLD LETTERS - Ship
To:

I'm unaware of any practices with the bank that requiring Ship-To addresses to
be on file with them.
Perhaps your financial institution is a bit different?

2.) when an order is placed on a Tuesday AM (or) Monday PM,
and it's
priority overnight, and it's across town, and the tracking number was
supplied on Wednesday one would expect that it would show up Thursday, not
 Friday.

See above, again this is a screw up that happened because of the one
that ordered it, by NOT having the ship to address on file with their
bank.

Where do you get this Ship-To on file w/ Bank idea?

Anyhow, you were already answered before that it had to do because YOU
didn't have the address on file with your bank. Why are you repeating
this lie that it is voipsupply.coms fault?
Be repeating it you make yourself look more like a politician or media
person, but certainly not someone that is in the electronic
engineering business. No I will not believe it because I read it
twice, so stop it.

No lie... Fact. There is a difference...

So, what we have here is one problem compounded by another, none on
behalf
 of the courier.

Exactly, but on behalf of the ordered.

If you give a Ship-To address that is NOT on file with your bank, you
will NOT get it to that address, and it WILL delay shipping.

Gosh dang spin doctors...
Where does it state this???
Prove it.

Is there no yellow pages for VoIP providers? Google mostly returns

none offer LNP or local DID's for my area. Anyone know of a list (even a

I wouldn't consider it an advertisement. There was no price, etc. I was
simply telling those that ordered from me previously I have more. It is
easier to send one email to 100's, then 100's of emails. If you do not want
to save money, nor want the rest of your fellow members to have the
opportunity to, I can stop. Fortunately, there is enough interest in these
phones coming from the non-business discussion list to warrant a small email
alerting everyone to a great deal. I believe great pricing from supplier has
been brought to everyone's attention numerous times in the past...

OK, so just to confirm. It's now acceptable to send spam to the users
list as long as you don't include a price and as long as you make some
money from them?

I will restate my previous opinion. The user's list is for users who have
problems/questions/open source software releases.

The -biz list is for _business_. If you believe that this is not business
(I.E. no money will change hands with the transaction), then could I
please have all 500 phones for $0.00. I assume there will also be no
shipping charge.

I did not sign up for the -users list for opt-in spam. I joined the -biz
list for that.

If people are allowed to begin posting commercial notices to the
Non-Commercial Discussion then I believe it will get out of hand pretty
quickly.

Do not make any more excuses for spamming the users list. They will fall
on dead ears or worse, end up with you being removed from the user's list.

Oh and by the way - we sell those phones at 1/10th of your price.
:-)
JK.
One last note: if you were indeed telling those that ordered from me
previously I have more. then I would not have received your email.
Instead, it seems you are incapable of forming your own customer mailing
list and so decided that because there are so many on the asterisk-users
list you would simply use that instead.

 them support
it via an external PoE adapter cable that Polycom makes
 available. It's
 about $40 retail, though.

Close... The IP600s do support PoE directly. According to the PolyCom
rep I spoke with, the new IP300s are shipping with the accessory cable
which supports PoE. If that's true, then their brochure is right on.
You may wish to have the reseller you are working with contact PolyCom
and ask... That was the only way I was able to get in touch with
PolyCom, and the way I was assured I would have the cables. If you're
interested, I can let you know when they come in if they were indeed in

I'm ordering some more phones - I have the Polycom IP 500's now and I
like them. I need some less expensive phones, and I'd like to stay
with all Polycoms for ease of administration. I've heard, though,
 that
the IP 300's don't support PoE even though their brochures say they
 do.
Has anybody have firsthand experience with them? Is this true?

Yep. They have no onboard POE chip, hence the reduced cost. Polycom
 gets
away saying they support POE by selling you at $40 cable that contains
either a Cisco or 802.3af compliant dongle.

Well, that's good to know. At $40 bucks a pop, the total price with
the phone is still cheaper than the competition for the 500, but that
makes the 300 rather unattractive in comparison to some other phones.

Anybody have any suggestions for a good, simple 2 line SIP phone that
supports PoE? Has anybody seen the Sipura SPA-841 yet? Will it
support PoE? Does the Zultys Zip2 support PoE?

I think the best way to do this would probably be to get a T1 or E1
capable card like the TE410P or T100P and then get a channel bank. It
is an external box that converts T1/E1 signalling to standard analog
lines. It can give you all of the 24 lines available on a T1 as FXS
ports. There's popular model that a lot of people are using, the
Rhino:

http://www.channelbanks.com/

I don't use this kind of a setup, so I can't vouch for it. Anybody
else? Is this a good unit?

The Sipura SPA-2000 is a great alternative to the Cisco unit, and is also
$60.00 cheaper.

I have 3 ata186's from Cisco. I have never used any other ATA but my guess
is they are all ok.

The 186's have 2 analog ports. I use one box for two different cordless
phones. The only thing I could not get to work was the *8. It must trap this
string. I had to change *8 to an extension number (features.conf) to get
group pickup to work. We use them every day.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a compatible channel bank to use it with T100P/E100P
digium cards and asterisk. Who has good experience with a channel bank
compatible with this cards? I would like to know brand and model of it,
I'm not looking for a fancy product, just a channel bank that allow me
to use it as multiplexer between analog lines and E1/T1 digium cards.

Thanks in advance,

Except that it doesn't support Power over Ethernet, so it isn't a
 replacement at all.

If you talk to a Snom rep that is what they will tell you. I was not
stating that it was an *EXACT* replacement. I just stated that the 190 is
taking the 200's place in Snom's line-up.

They advertise on their website (and indeed quoted me for) the Snom
