2009-02-17 Thread Danny Nicholas
Here's an alternative to TFTP that works with Polycom 501's. Enable HTTP in
*. Under your static-http directory make a phones dir and put your files
there. In the phone setup, select HTTP and point to
http://1.2.3.4:8088/asterisk/static-http/phones changing 1.2.3.4 to your
local * IP.

Anyway, Ronny I can give you my archive with what i had in my tftp and
i succeeded to update firmware. Just tell me if you want to send on
your personal e-mail these files.

Create an empty file and it will be happy. At least that has been my
experience with my 7960.

Others can probably provide a sample of the remaining files.

So far I have been unable to go beyond version 7 firmware, as it is
unhappy with the XML file when trying to move to version 8.

Depends on your flavor of Linux and what you have installed to manage your
inbound network connections. For CentOS/xinetd you will have a directory
/etc/xinetd.d with a file "tftp". Edit this file and change the line that
says "disable = yes" to "disable = no". You then need to send a HUP
signal to the xinetd process to get it reread these configs. Get the
process ID with "ps -eaf | grep xinetd", then send it the signal with
"kill -1 ".

If you don't have xinetd installed you may have regular inetd. In this
case edit /etc/inetd.conf, find the line that starts with "tftp" and make
sure it isn't commented out. Send the HUP signal to the inetd process as
above.

In any case you should see attempts to GET or PUT files in
/var/log/messages (or /var/log/*tftpd*).

Cheers,

Hint:

  tail -f /var/log/daemon.log

(on Debians. probably /var/log/messages instead on RedHats)

If you ever used PXE, you would have noticed that checking for a file
that is not there is a common practice.

The solar winds windows server is very nice while troubleshooting
though, as you have an on screen log that gives real time reports if
something is in error.
Once all is working, have the Linux TFTP available for the phone when it
needs it.
And sometimes enabling and KEEPING it enabled can be a challenge in itself.
Besides, he did say he was a noobie!

Can't speak to Vista , the solar winds works well on Win2K

Create an empty file and it will be happy. At least that has been my
experience with my 7960.

Others can probably provide a sample of the remaining files.

So far I have been unable to go beyond version 7 firmware, as it is
unhappy with the XML file when trying to move to version 8.

Solar winds TFTP server, free, is certainly the best, easy to install in
a windows box and gives you an on screen log to view what has and has
not been successful

2.) I tried to upgrade firmware like they said with tftp server... I

I don't get any luck here either. I look in the /var/log/messages and

2009-02-13 Thread k4rjj

I'm trying to do the same and have read the mentioned sites.  The one item I can't seem to get past is a working TFTP server.  What is the easiest method to get one running and what packages in Linux or Windows work best? Thanks for putting up with a Linux newbie.  Ronny

Re: [asterisk-users] Cisco IP Phone 7940G.

2009-02-13 Thread Alex Balashov

This phone is currently running the SCCP (Skinny) image. Before you will
get anywhere you need to load the SIP firmware image onto it. The SEP*
configuration files are for SCCP.

After doing that, the phone will start requesting the correct files. You
may need to upgrade through various SIP images cumulatively.

[asterisk-users] Cisco IP Phone 7940G.

2009-02-13 Thread Catalin S.
Hello I recently get a Cisco 7940G IP Phone and I try to make several
things with it and I en counted many difficulties:

1.) I tried to unlock the phone and to set manually IP Address,
Netmask, Gateway etc. I don't get any luck.
2.) I tried to upgrade firmware like they said with tftp server... I
downloaded: P0S3-08-11-00.zip and I uncompressed the files in tftpboot
directory.
I don't get any luck here either. I look in the /var/log/messages and
I observed that my phone request 4 different files that i don't have
it in my tftp directory.
Here's my tftp output session with my phone:

Feb 13 11:19:36 linux-9pg5 atftpd[18825]: Serving OS79XX.TXT to
192.168.1.3:52178
Feb 13 11:19:36 linux-9pg5 atftpd[18825]: Serving
SEP00141CAA4B4C.cnf.xml to 192.168.1.3:52179

[asterisk-users] Cisco IP Phone services.xml sample?

2007-04-11 Thread shawnl
Does anyone have a small, plain services.xml file for a cisco ip phone,
preferably one that will work on a 7960?

I can't seem to get my xml right, and no matter what I send to the phone
I keep getting parse errors.

Thanks

[Asterisk-Users] Cisco IP phone NAT config

2005-11-18 Thread Joao Pereira

Hello, I have SER in bridging mode with two IPs (private and public).
To dial the world, my Cisco IP phones must contact the SER private IP,
and the call is then proxyed by SER.

All other SIP clients can do it, but the Cisco phones dont
What should I put in the configuration file?
For now I have this:

# NAT/Firewall Traversal
nat_enable: 1
nat_address: ""
voip_control_port: 5060
start_media_port: 8000
end_media_port: 9000
nat_received_processing: 0

...but I m not really using NAT, because, for the phones, the call just
goes to the private SER IP, and they dont know nothing besides that.

Does someone have a setup like this with Cisco phones?
Thanks
Joao

Are you using the latest version of chan_sccp?
http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=chan_sccp2

The driver link can be gotten directly from there.

There is a mailing list just for chan_sccp.

Try the latest version and let us know what happens when you try to

N, Thats only if you want to use SIP which i dont, I just want to
use the standard sccp that comes with the phones that link to the "call
manager"and to be bluntly honest..the phone is EOL..cisco isnt gonna
support it anyway. It has been EOL since december of 2000

You might be able to get the phones for $30 each but if you want to
stay 100% legal the software is going to cost you $150 for the license

nave no software license for whatever's on there now) plus ~$100 per

You might be able to talk cisco down a bit.. others have just given up
and got images off ebay (took me over a year to get a proper
contract.. and the dealer had to have legal threats before they'd
actually send the details. Cisco don't like end users at all.).

[Asterisk-Users] Cisco IP Phone 7912

2005-05-10 Thread Marlène Beray

Hi,

I have some Cisco IP Phone 7912 registered to
Asterisk. I wanted to know if it is possible to enter the IP address of the IP
phone situated in the same LAN you want to call instead of its phone number.

Is it possible with other IP Phones?

Thank you for your help,

Marlene

Stay away from the 7910 if your going SIP. It will not support it.

The 7910 does not support SIP. It is SCCP only.

Hi all,

I have a person trying to sell me Cisco 7910 IP Phones. Does anyone
know if SIP is supported on these phones? I have CCO login also so if
they do support SIP does anyone know where I could download the
software?

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if
it's possible to continue talking to one member of an initiated conference call

parties.

Thanks.

Mine works terrific. My 7940 (non-G) phones work nicely as well.
What kind of issues are you having?
-Andrew

Ok, I was confused here, I read '7960G' not 7905G. Sorry about that. :)
