When you downgrade from CVS-HEAD to 1.0.x CVS stable you have to remove
the modules that are in CVS-HEAD, but not in 1.0.x CVS stable.

Either that or you didn't remove the Asterisk source dir (and Zaptel
source dir, and LibPRI source dir) before you downloaded the 1.0.x CVS.

I had the exact same problem, but was in the process of trying to figure it

the stable version. How do I remove the modules that are in CVS-HEAD?

What's the best way to do clean up everything and do a fresh install of
Asterisk stable?

As long as you are only using the stock modules that come with Aterisk
you can just rm everything in /usr/lib/asterisk/modules

[Asterisk-Users] Error starting Asterisk.

2004-10-25 Thread Oscar Bults

L.S.,

I have a Pentium
800Mhz with 394MB memory, 80GB HD and FreeBSD installed on
it.

I installed Asterisk
with the "ports-collection" of FreeBSD.

When I start
Asterisk, it gives the following error:

Hostname kernel: pid
11802 (asterisk), uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped).

When I issue the
command
asterisk
-c

I can see only a
warning for file chan_oss.c: I don't work right with non-full duplex sounds
cards

Does anybody have a
hunch? If necessary I can ofcourse provide the full output of asterisk
-c...

Thanks in
advance
Oscar

I've never installed on FreeBSD, but I'm going throw a wild guess out
there. In modules.conf, try disabling the chan_alsa and chan_oss
drivers.

noload = chan_alsa.so
noload = chan_oss.so

I didn't verify the above config as I am just trying to remember, but
I'm pretty sure thats right :)

Give that a shot and see if you get an difference.

Start up Asterisk with a 'g' option so it will do a core dump when it
crashes. (i.e. asterisk -gc) Then you can load the core dump into
gdb and get a backtrace to see exactly where it is failing.

So I added
Noload=codec_mp3_d.so to modules.conf

Asterisk is now running but I have not yet found out what the impact
isSeems to me that this has something to do with the soundcard giving a
warning.

If someone knows what this module does please let me know?

2004-10-11 Thread Simon Brown
I have been running Asterisk happily for many months and I was trying to
upgrade from CVS-HEAD-08/13/04-10

Did you upgrade to V1.0, or is this a brand-new installation?

New install:
Do you have any digium cards on the machine? If not then that's probably why
it's throwing up the 'Loading module chan_zap.so failed' error.

If you're going to run the * box without any of the digium cards then you
need to add

noload = chan_zap.so

in /etc/asterisk/modules.conf

New install, have digium card:
Perhaps your box isn't recognizing the card due to an IRQ issue? run the
dmesg command and make sure there's something in the output that shows your
box recognizes the existence of the card.

Perhaps posting a bit more information about your setup might help.

Re: [Asterisk-Users] Error starting

2004-10-11 Thread Craig Guy
From what I have seen so far on this list if you are running a version of
CVS-Head prior to release of Asterisk 1.0 then you should keep it and not
try to change or upgrade it. It would appear that there are a lot of recent
changes that may break if you try to upgrade to current CVS-Head, and
conversely that 1.0 is missing a lot of functionality that was present in
August / September CVS-Head.
