When I took the 3 feet of analog cable out of my Telasip line the
sound quality improved dramatically. I know everyone says echo is at
the other end, but that change got rid of most of the echo. Before it
was internet <> Sipura <> TDM04 <> * <> Aastra 480i, now it's
internet <> * <> Aastra. And Telasip is only $15/month. I'm about to
dump my ATT Callvantage line for another Telasip line, just sad about
having to lose the phone number, not sad about the improved voice
quality and $15/month savings.

I have had positive experience with both Teliax and with Nufone.net,
both of which I selected based on positive feedback here on the list.
They have both worked reliably for me, although frickin' comcast
sometimes has very poor latency, which they admit, but fail to do
anything about.

I am looking at also using a third company as I see that sellvoip.net is
very inexpensive, can provide me with a local number (seattle, wa) AND
is very close to me geographically. The 11 MS ping from my comcast
connection is a powerful motivator.

I too am kind of surprised Ron didn't look into teliax, particularly
since they are just down the block (relatively speaking) from his
location. ;)

VOIP. Depending on hoy many channels you use you can
get a basic DSL line. If you have verizon they have a
plan for $15.00 a month. You get 768/128.

Thanks for the insight.. I have been considering broadvoice because it seems
to be a "big" name, but yours is not the first negative feedback.. Perhaps
I'll stay w/ Vonage for the time being - I hate having it go analog and back to
digitial in the space of 5 feet of cable, but at least it works well!
(Flawlessly as a matter of fact, in the 14 months I've had it!!)

If you want to switch back to Vonage, let me know, so I can
recommend you and get a free month!! ;-)

I don't know about your particular situation, but from my reading of
BroadVoice's terms of service, phone numbers you get from them are not
yours for portability purposes.

Re: [Asterisk-Users] I'm FED UP with BroadVoice

2006-03-23 Thread Jonathan Augenstine
I have had very reliable inbound/outbound service from Junction Networks
(www.junctionnetworks.com). The one time I did have an issue, it was
resolved quickly. During my testing I concluded that BroadVoice (my
partner refers to them as NoVoice) was unreliable (approximately 40% of
all of our test calls went uncompleted) and not ready for prime time
(almost impossible to get in contact with technical support).

For our inbound only service we have been using Voxbone
(www.voxbone.com). Very reliable and very responsive technical support.
We had one problem plaguing us that turned out to be a configuration
issue that was my fault. However, they were very responsive in testing
their end to help troubleshoot the problem.

I would venture to say that all ITSP suck... some just suck less...
It generally speaking boils down to that fact that internet
connectivity is never full reliable (from a consumer standpoint).
Sure if you want to cough up the money for a T1, you probably get
better phone service for $19.95/month... but that really doesn't make
a whole lot of sence.

Even connections from home back to an office that doesn't have much
load but is out on the internet is somewhat flakey because there is no
QOS.
