[asterisk-users] Linksys PAP2 NA

2008-01-17 Thread Mr Gabriel Ogunleye
Dear all,

I have managed to connect this device to my asterisk box, but it is giving
me a bit of a hard time. I can call other extensions from this box, but I am
not able to call this one. It seems to permanently remain engaged. When I
dial it, this is the message I get. Is there a know issue in this regard?
What can I do to test the actual current status of the line?

Best regards,

What do you get? Enable sip set debug in CLI. Is it behind NAT?

We have a lot of them successfully working. Sometimes they crash and
needs reboot, but generally they are ok.

exactly should I be looking for?

How did you configure these devices - maybe something I missed in the

RE: [Asterisk-Users] Linksys PAP2-NA failures...

2005-07-26 Thread Steve Gladden
We had 2 fail at the office...
Red light and no talk battery on line #1 or line #2 port.
Unit completly responsive...
Not able to factory default due to unit being completly unresponsive.
It's some kind of hardware or total firmware fail.

They failed here before my very face and there were no issues
of anyone plugging them into phone wiring as each had a single
phone plugged in with a 3 foot cord :-)

Steve

I've had some of these fail with the red light. I think customers may be
plugging them into the wall with a pstn line still connected.

I have found my PAP2-NA's to be picky about their DHCP server. My PAP2-NA
appears to lockup if it is set for DHCP and the server is my Netgear RP614
Websafe router. The fix for this is to unplug the ethernet from the unit,
plug in an analog handset, power it on, using the handset perform a
 factory
reset and then set it for static IP settings.

I've now had two of them fail unexpectedly, with no apparent rhyme or
reason, having gone into a RED power LED, with a solid blue ethernet
LED. No response from the device either on the network or from the
phone To make matters even crazier, the one that now failed was the
one I received as a replacement for the previous dead one - and no, they
were never installed in the same location either

[Asterisk-Users] Linksys PAP2-NA Config

2004-12-23 Thread Listas

Hi,
I have 3 PAP2 connected to*, they work fine
but there are some things which I would like to improve, some of them
are:
 - double ring tone when placing
a call (I hear two tones it seems like the PAP2 is generating it's own
tone)
 - some kind of noise (like
glitches or something) when I pick up the phone (seems like some polarity
thing)
 - I'd like to keep the tone
after pressing 9 (just like ignorepat in *, but in the PAP2
dialplan)

there are so many options in the PAP2 that I
haven't been able to achieve this things, I'm aware that maybe some of them are
not possible, but I couldn't find any documentation on configuring the
PAP2-NA...

thanks in advance.

[Asterisk-Users] Linksys PAP2-NA not re-registering after registration expires

2004-12-21 Thread Gary Carr
We are testing some PAP2-NA ATAs from Linksys and I can use the device to
make outbound calls as well as receive inbound calls when the ATA first
connects to the * server. After a couple of minutes of being idle the ATA
disconnects from the * server and will not take calls, but can continue to
make calls. A sip show peers shows the ATA as being unreachable. Resetting
the ATA or making changes to the registration expiry will force the ATA to
reconnect but after another few minutes idle it disconnects again.

Anyone else seeing this with these devices or have a idea why this happens?
We don't have this problem with Cisco7960s or X-Ten softphones.

Thanks,

Re: [Asterisk-Users] Linksys PAP2-NA not re-registeringafterregistration expires

2004-12-21 Thread Listas
I recently bought 3 of them and I'been using them with no problems at all,
but in the testing phase I had some trouble with one of them getting
disconected (just like if it was resetting itself, with the blue light
turning red and all that stuff) but then I changed the switch and everything
went fine...

Has anyone got documentation on the configuration options available, I mean
has anyone got some info on what does each option mean, posible values or
whatever... in other words has anyone got a decent manual on the PAP2 NA
(because it comes with the PAP2 NOT NA manual which amounts to almost
nothing)

Thanks.

We are testing some PAP2-NA ATAs from Linksys and I can use the device
to
make outbound calls as well as receive inbound calls when the ATA first
connects to the * server. After a couple of minutes of being idle the
ATA
disconnects from the * server and will not take calls, but can continue
to
make calls. A sip show peers shows the ATA as being unreachable.
Resetting
the ATA or making changes to the registration expiry will force the ATA
to
reconnect but after another few minutes idle it disconnects again.

Anyone else seeing this with these devices or have a idea why this
 happens?
We don't have this problem with Cisco7960s or X-Ten softphones.

  Thanks,

  Gary

Thats the first thing I'm going to try when we get our units. I'll
get them in a week or two and let you know.

Nope. The SPA firmware does not load on the PAP2-NA, but the
functionality is identical. There are 2 things that I immediately
prefer on the PAP2 over the SPA:
1. Has 1 LED for each line that turns on when the line is registered.
If it cannot register then the LED does not turn on.
2. It is a better looking device.

It's probably something akin to the older H.323 VxWorks based units where
the hardware is custom designed, but the software is the same or very
similar. No sense reinventing the wheel if someone has code written
already and is willing to license the code.

Does anyone know anything about the ESS Visba 3 chipsets, or ES3890F in
particular? That will be the microcontroller that runs the software.
A datasheet on the ES3890F would be useful is anyone has it.

[Asterisk-Users] Linksys PAP2-NA

2004-09-22 Thread Eric Merkel

I receieved my first PAP2-NA yesterday from our distributor(Tech Data). It
installed pretty easily and has worked great so I went to order some more
of these units today.

When I logged into Tech Data this morning, the PAP2-NA was now marked as
discontinued and no longer available and only the PAP2 version was
available which is the Vonage branded version. :(

I saw someone on the list say that they heard from Cisco that these units
were not due out until Dec. Did Cisco/Linksys pull these units off the
shelves?

This really chaps my hide. The situation as it's been explained to me
is: Apparently, too many *consumers* were accidentally buying the
PAP2-NA (unlocked) version and then complaining/returning them to
Linksys b/c they didn't understand that they need a service provider to
be able to place and receive phone calls. Either the people intended to
buy the Vonage version, or they just didn't realize they needed a
service provider and ended up with a paperweight. Linksys is pulling
all stock of these units back from the distributors and requiring that
they only be sold to ISPs who have the capability to provide VoIP
service. If you've already got one, you're luckyI had my order
confimation but they hadn't shipped yet...My order was cancelled.

I hope to hear more from my vendor later today, I'll let you know what

This is about big business. No ILEC is going to just sit idle and watch
billions in revenue go out the window. It will be interesting to see if port

has serious $ so I would expect serious business moves on their part. There
is no way the excuse you were given is true. The real reason? Vonage
probably went nuts and told Cisco to fix the problem. I know I would, how

I think part of the reason also is that Sipura did not like the Linksys
move. It undermined their ability to sell their units at $75+, while
Linksys sold them for under $50. I have heard of other companies
(besides us) who have also slammed hard down on Sipura with this issue.
Even those who buy quantities of 2000+ at a time do not even get a price
below $50 from Sipura. I would speculate that Sipura and Cisco got
together in the last couple of days and decided it was in their best
interest to pull these off of the market for now. They will probably
come back later at a higher price more in line with what Sipura would
approve of.

Re: [Asterisk-Users] Linksys PAP2-NA Update

2004-09-22 Thread Brandon Patterson (peering)
Ok guys here is the deal. Someone decided that the boxes were shipped to
soon. Alright, whatever. Now we are told that Linksys will have a program
where you must be certifed as an ISP or VOIP company in order to purchase
the box. Call as many dist. as you like but, selling the box after being
told not to; will only get the dist. in trouble. So Linksys / Cisco now
decides who is an Internet Service Provider? Speaking for myself this is
real bullshit. As to why its being down? Power Control. Cisco seems to
forget just who the hell made them as big as they are. Our company has made
it clear to Cisco, not Linksys that there will always be other suppliers.
Many of you will remember when SCO wanted you to get certified on Unix just
because they needed extra cash. Or when Compaq wanted people approved and so
on. the market demands this type of item. Others besides Linksys will
build it. Leadtek offers a unit we use and the support is excellent. Its
more money but I doubt that Leadtek or others will just sit by. The cash is
there, the boom is on... Let the band play!

That is really weird... especially considering some of the PAP2-NA's
