Interesting, the bottom of my previous email disappeared ... so here is
again.

Asterisk installation on a new server. Zaptel 1.4.10.1 had been
installed, but I decided to uninstall, and install Zaptel 1.4.11 before I
went further. I get past make clean, ./configure, then when I get to make
install I get this error.

[Asterisk-Users] Zaptel issue

2005-09-05 Thread Asterisk
I'm having a bad time getting 3 TE410P's and one TDM400 working in the same
box.

At some point during the install of second card, wcusb starts loading. I
believe
this is one of the TE410 Cards causing this as there is no usb enabled.

If I rmmod the usb stuff, it come back on next reboot...
At reboot, zaptel is complaining that modules are busy and can't remove
them.
How can I stop asterisk from loading this ?

Good luck. The interrupt issues alone are enough to make me run for my happy
place.

Don't put everything in one box. Split it in two, or even three. Honestly,
servers aren't that expensive and you're just begging for a disaster with
this all your eggs in one basket implementation.

Asterisk isn't doing this.

Asterisk doesn't load kernel modules.

You need to look at and understand the boot scripts that are loading the
modules and remove the load of wcusb.

You aren't using [EMAIL PROTECTED] by any chance? If so, look in
/etc/sysconfig and grep for wcusb and edit that file.

ctl is not a directory. Look here:

crw-r--r-- 1 root root 196, 0 Oct 30 16:40 /dev/zap/ctl

And no you cannot readily cat a dev. I've not had to create any device files
for a long time so I've forgotten how you do it, but the c means its a
character device. It's a device that is read one character at a time.

The command should be mknod so a man mknod should give you the details.
And I cannot imagine why it was not created for you. It seems plausable that
it should have been created at least by the time you run the zaptel install
script. You could also just reinstall the binaries.

There's script on szmidt.org/asterisk/asterisk-update.sh that will create
backups of your source code and download, compile, install the asterisk
system, etc. Simply run it without any parameter and it will give you the
syntax.

Not that running the install by hand is very hard... but I get lazy and try to
automate everything. Which can make things overly complex. So it may still
have some bug in it. Though it seems to run just fine now.

I have the following error once I have installed asterisk on my new Fedora
Core 2 test 3 box with a T100P, compiled fine no problems after using the
info on voip-info.org but when i run ztcfg i get this error message:

 Notice: Configuration file is /etc/zaptel.conf
line 143: Unable to open master device '/dev/zap/ctl'

I had the same problem when I tried to install zaptel on FC2. I
resolved it by commenting out the following lines:

ifeq ($(DYNFS),)
else
@echo Dynamic filesystem detected -- not creating device nodes
@echo If you are running udev, read README.udev
endif

from the zaptel Makefile (lines 233, 253-256 as of this morning's Makefile).

Hope this helps,

I have done as below now I get a new error message when trying to make clean or make install it says

Makefile:230: *** missing rule before commands. Stop.

In the build I have these lines were slightly different the ifeq ($(DYNFS),) is on line 230. I take it you didn't comment out the lines below as these look like they are creating the device nodes.

Any ideas

Thanks

The
cards appear to load fine when i modprobe them no errors appear but
Asterisk cannot use them when I make a call to the line in question asterisk
doesn't acknowledge them, the config I am using is off my old machine (identical
version same hardware and card just new OS) no errors on its startup euitither
it seems to accept the config fine. | suspect that the channel has possibly
changed but without ZTCFG i don't know how to check, does anybody have any ideas
on a) what this message means and B is there anyway to see the channel the
device is using.
