Re: [Asterisk-Users] Asterisk Memory Requirements

2005-05-17 Thread Roy Sigurd Karlsbakk
I have asterisk installed on a Dell 2850 dual-Xeon 3.0Ghz box with 2GB
of memory. This is serving about 75 sip clients, Polycom500's and
600's. We are running into problems with the memory. Asterisk, right
now, is using about 1.8GB of system memory. I am using Asterisk
1.0.7,
Zaptel 1.0.7 with Digiums TE410 1xT1 RBS and 1xT1 PRI, Libpri 1.0.7 on
Fedora Core 3. My question; is this normal or do I need more
memory or
is there a more serious underlying problem.
there's probably something fscked up.
try compiling with astmm enabled (see the makefile and look for
MALLOC_DEBUG)

can someone please tell me how much memory asterisk requires? I'm

It would appear to require about 1.4GB, based on all the information
you've presented.

I'm aware of what the numbers say, but having around 50 concurrent
calls, doing some g.729 and having been up for a couple of days, then
this looks an awful lot. now it's down to 30 calls, but it looks like
it's still climbing

this is 1.0.7 with mysql sipfriends and some agi, cdr - mysql (mysql
driver - not odbc)

In this case, it certainly looks like a significant memory leak of some
sort. Seems like your VMSize is about 10 times too big.

How are measuring Asterisk memory usage? You're not counting the
memory consumed by the filesystem cache, are you?

That's a total memory usage for the entire OS of only 107MB:

2005-04-08 Thread Luki
Doesn't look right to me...

My box serves (as in has registered and online but not currently in
a call) 42 SIP clients. Memory usage is about 20 MB. It's been a week
since a restart (after an upgrade to the latest CVS version). This is
a single P4, 1GB of RAM but runs other services as well. Connected
devices are a mix of Sipuras and Grandstreams.
