If you just want to trigger click2dial you can use SIPTAPI. (make sure
to specify type=friend in sip.conf for this account)

Is TAPI the right protocol to investigate for this purpose? Would

Click-to-dial in Outlook is a feature of trixbox PRO. HUD does have a TAPI
interface. You can even click-to-dial any phone number that shows up in a
browser window.

There is a Digium solution to this as well...

Digium recently acquired snap-a-number and has put own their own version of
it already called Asterisk Desktop Assistant

It does exactly what you are looking for plus some more... Information is
still a little scarce since it is pretty new, but there is some limited
information as well as some manuals that should give you enough information
to get it going (its actually very easy).

http://forums.digium.com/index.php?c=8sid=0a71abedc29238acee530a0461c914b0

Oh yeah, its also free (as in beer). Though I am not clear if its going to
stay that way or not... But I haven;t seen anything that would indicate
otherwise.

There are issues with AstTapi and Windows XP. I suggest you go to the
Asttapi bug list (on sourceforge.com) and check for patches etc., I have

The issue appears to be something on the XP desktop side. I can end-task
and restore TAPI functionality about 75% of the time. Otherwise, a
reboot always clears it up.

I'm unfamiliar with astmanproxy. I'll look it up.

Do you know which component is dead after 5 or so calls? Is it AstTAPI?
Or is it the manager interface? How many clients are you connecting so

I have not rolled this out on a production scale, but using AstTAPI and
astmanproxy, I have so far had no stability problems (Windows XP
Home/Pro clients) in my test environment.

If you have installed siptapi.tsp you might want to remove it - I
found that that reduced the stability of my TAPI setup, even when not in
use (I assume some basic initialisation is still done if the TSP is
present)

It may be the two ends becoming out of sync in some fashion -
Perhaps you should try capturing a trace of the TCP communication, and
see what happens just before the hang.

RE: [Asterisk-Users] TAPI Recommendations

2006-02-13 Thread Bob McDowell

I have installed AstManProxy, and it seems a bit better from within
Outlook, but things are the same from my application. The error the
application gives me is 'LINE ERR NOT OWNER' or something similar. I
would have copy-pasted, but I went into a hard lock after closing and
re-opening Outlook...

Also, pressing the 'Redial' button from within the app crashes the app.

I see no errors in /var/log/asterisk/astmanproxy.log.

I will do the packet capture and see what it tells me.

Would anyone happen to know how I might isolate TAPI issues from the
application? I can submit a change request to the application's
developers IF I can convince them it is their issue, not Asterisk's.

Subject: [Asterisk-Users] TAPI

I just installed tapi and some app called identapop pro. I havent tested
incoming calls yet but so far, I cant get calls out using outlooks.

I configured TAPI for asterisk inside outlooks and I set TAPI to these
configs:

TAPI connects using the manager to asterisk without problems.

As channels I configure this:
User channel: SIP/myphone and the phone actually rings when I tell outlook
to dial out.
Inbound channel: Zap/g1 but I havent tested this yet, please let me know if
it looks ok? I have a group defined as 1 wichi has 2 x100p cards.
Dial by context with nothing defined
Outbound channel: I use to have Zap/g1 but nothing happens, then I tried
forcing it to Zap/2 but this is what asterisk debug shows on the console:

voip*CLI
-- Lauching Dial(ZAP/20445513208717) on SIP/intruder1-2a89 Mar 20
15:23:58 NOTICE[18155]: app_dial.c:936 dial_exec_full: Unable to create
channel of type 'ZAP' (cause 0)
== Everyone is busy/congested at this time (1:0/0/1)

So.. Anything looks bad?

Thx Guys!

with YAC listener on the windows PC.

See the wiki:

Works well for me.

RE: [Asterisk-Users] TAPI development

2003-11-12 Thread Steven Sokol
Actually, you may want to make your TSP use the Manager interface. Not
ALL of the TAPI primitives are supported, but such is the case with most
PBXs. Better yet, you can alter the PBX source to add additional
events/commands that can be written into your TSP.

If you need the TSP/MSP (or TAPI/WAV) type of functionality, you will
need to look at wrapping AIX, SIP, MGCP, or H323 into an MSP or WAV
device. AIX would most likely be the easiest. You would want to
support multiple 3rd party pseudo-UAs on a single PC (i.e. multiple
virtual channels).

A closed-source PBX call the IP Office offered by Avaya uses TAPI
2.x/3.x to provide 1st and 3rd party control as well as media
interfaces. I am under NDA so I can't go into detail. Suffice it to
say that what you want to do can in fact be done, given enough effort.

I have a client that is interested in a TSAPI wrapper for Asterisk. If
somebody has JTAPI we could have a large portion of the CTI universe
covered.

Regards,

Steven

Hi,

Citeren Michael Devenijn [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

Has anyone ever worked opn TAPI stuff to make asterisk work with it ?

I'm a Windoze C++ developer dig'n into asterisk (and linux at the same
time)
since a few months and i'm quite interested in creating a TAPI driver
for
 asterisk.

so if anybody did any research in that way please inform me.

Also i've you think it's quite impossible to do it we can discuss our
idea's

I guess it would be possible, but it more or less depends on what you'd
want
to do with it. Technically you should be able to make a virtual CAPI
interface
that links to an asterisk (IAX) account or perhaps simply some XMLRPC
server
(as in, VoIP calling from the PC or instructing asterisk to connect the
phone
on my desk to a certain number, straight out of outlook or similar)

Although I have briefly looked through TAPI I am not familiar enough
with its
capacities. Any kind of useable interface for CTI with asterisk would
serve a
great purpose, but would - I expect - be very customer-specific...
