[ath9k-devel] How to make TX/RX balance

2013-05-31 Thread Cheng-Chi Kuo
 Hi all,
I'm not quite sure that the priority of upload and download is
related to the wireless driver. But I hope someone could help me on
this.

I had setuped a linux PC with Atheros AR5BHB92 as a wireless hotspot
(running with hostapd).

There is a laptop connected to the hotspot, and I will transfer data
between the latptop and PC (hotspot) over wireless. But there is a
problem: when I upload and download at the same time, the upload rate
is far faster than the download rate. For example, upload is 3.1 MB/s
and download is 1.2 MB/s. Actually I often use laptop to play video
resided on the PC, so the download rate is more important to me.

Does wireless driver have something to do with this problem? (I
have tried another wireless chip, it seems that it doesn't have this
problem). Is there any tips on modifying wireless driver to make the
upload/download rate balance?
I’d love to hear any other advice. Thanks.

[ath9k-devel] Tplink TL-WN822N drops out connections randomly on Arch Linux with Kernel 3.9.4

2013-05-31 Thread Mark E. Lee
I recently purchased a TPLINK TL-WN822N for my desktop running 64 bit
Arch Linux. For some reason, the connection drops out every now and then
(it is especially evident during Skype calls). I have run skype on
ethernet and have not been able to replicate this problem using
ethernet. In addition, I have run the usb wifi adapter in Windows 8
without any issues. Anyone got any advice on how to fix the issue?

From,
Mark

Hi Mark,

please provide dmesg and usbid of this device. There are different
versions of TL-WN822N. Which one do you have?

[ath9k-devel] AR9285 boot activation

2013-05-31 Thread mathieu . westphal
Hello

I'm currently trying to find a way to activate an Hard Blocked AR2985 using
driver capabilities.
i'll explain myself.

This a netbook where you have to press fn+f2 to actually unblock (hard) the
wifi card.
Using the keys it's works well, and some might say there is no other way to
activate/deactivate it.

With any linux i tried, the wifi is not activated at boot time, so you actually
have to be physically present to activate the wifi,
wich can be a problem in remote situation

However with windows ( seven utltimate 32bit) the wifi activate at the very
beginning of windows boot.
So there MUST be a way to activate it without pressing these keys.

Is this capabbility is or will be included in ath9k ? have anyone discussed
about it here.
If anyone has any lead about this problem, i would be happy to contribute in
ath9k.

Thanks

Mathieu
