2014-05-04 Thread Paulo Cavalcanti
http://people.atrpms.net/~pcavalcanti/srpms/smplayer-14.3.0-9.fc20.src.rpm

Axel,

this new version only runs if mplayer is compiled with fribidi enabled.
This means that ATrpms mplayer has to be recompiled using

--with fribidi

I think we deactivated this option a long time ago, because it was messing
up subtitles with accents. However, it seems to be Ok now.

Thanks.

xbmc 12.3 is out, and it is using ffmpeg 1.2:

I forced

BuildRequires: ffmpeg-devel 2.0

so it does not pick up version 2.0, which does not compile ...

Other than that, everything is the same.

Thanks.

PS: we still do not have any recent nvidia kmdl for fedora, because the last

Re: [ATrpms-devel] Fixed nvidia driver 331.20

2013-12-17 Thread Paulo Cavalcanti
Interesting. I did not notice anything yet, and I can run the C program
below just fine:

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7435944.html

I was having gkrellm dying with version 319.49, but it seems stable until
now with 321.20
Maybe this depends on the card type, but I did not see any report for
fedora, and rpm fusion is shipping this driver for F19:

http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/updates/19/x86_64/repoview/index.html

Anyway, I removed a test, for applying patch0, from the spec file, which
was causing the kernel module compilation fail for fedora.

We have found the process signal mask is randomly but frequently corrupted
with this version of the drivers. Causes all sorts of interresting issues,
like GUI subprocess elements don't quit when the main parent exits.

A quick google search of nvidia 331.20 signal mask leads to this thread,
and in particular, the following post:

I suggest more caution than usual before releasing this version.

previous

Since then, I am unable to login in gnome. I get
Oh, Something went wrong on a black screen and I am kicked out.

Kde works just fine, though, and cinnamon is unbearable slow.

I am using RedHat since 1997 and this is the first time gnome fails me ...

I was wandering whether this has anything to do with my card GeForce GT 640
and
this new driver (I do not have any other version to try).

Re: [ATrpms-devel] New npapi-vlc available

I do not know. Here I get:

checking for g++... g++
checking whether we are using the GNU C++ compiler... yes
checking whether g++ accepts -g... yes
checking dependency style of g++... gcc3
./configure: line 5529: AC_PROG_OBJCXX: command not found
checking for a sed that does not truncate output... /bin/sed
checking for fgrep... /bin/grep -F
checking for ld used by gcc -std=gnu99... /usr/bin/ld

The patch adds an

m4_pattern_allow(AC_PROG_OBJCXX)

so the configure proceeds.

Maybe some dependencies are missing. I just require libtool. Do you need
to add autoconf and automake in your environment?

Re: [ATrpms-devel] New mpd available

2013-07-25 Thread Paulo Cavalcanti
mpd has a directory where, among other things, its database and pid are
stored.

If mpd is run system wide as root, this is /var/lib/mpd, as you should set
in
/etc/mpd.conf:

cascavel:~] ls -al /var/lib/mpd
total 12604
drwxr-xr-x. 5 mpd mpd4096 Jul 18 07:12 .
drwxrwxr-x. 78 root procgrafico4096 Jul 14 22:37 ..
-rw-r--r--. 1 mpd mpd 3350971 Jul 20 17:37 database
-rw---. 1 mpd mpd 16 Jul 5 2012 .esd_auth
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root9508991 Jul 24 18:20 log
drwxr-xr-x. 2 mpd mpd4096 Jul 10 09:08 music
-rw-r--r--. 1 mpd mpd 5 Jul 18 07:12 pid
drwxr-xr-x. 2 mpd mpd4096 Jul 10 09:08 playlists
drwx--. 2 mpd mpd4096 Feb 9 00:09 .pulse
-rw---. 1 mpd mpd 256 Jul 5 2012 .pulse-cookie
-rw-r--r--. 1 mpd mpd3258 Jul 20 17:42 state

If mpd is run for a single user this is generally ~/.mpd:

[cascavel:~] ls -al ~/.mpd
total 8260
drwxrwxr-x. 4 roma roma4096 Mar 11 08:45 .
drwxr-xr-x. 115 roma roma 12288 Jul 24 17:10 ..
drwxrwxr-x. 2 roma roma4096 Sep 2 2012 .AppleDouble
-rw-rw-r--. 1 roma roma 3313663 Mar 7 09:00 database
-rw-rw-r--. 1 roma roma 5093395 Mar 11 17:30 log
-rw-r--r--. 1 roma roma 13727 Jul 7 2012 mpd.conf
-rw-rw-r--. 1 roma roma 5 Mar 11 08:45 pid
drwxrwxr-x. 2 roma roma4096 Oct 14 2012 playlists
-rw-rw-r--. 1 roma roma3917 Mar 7 09:32 state

Therefore, there has never been a /var/run/mpd. To use the system wide
approach with selinux active, the files must be labelled audio_home_t.

Nonetheless, you have to edit /etc/mpd.conf and set your choices,
removing the pounds (#) at least until:

#state_file /var/lib/mpd/state

Otherwise, I doubt mpd will work...

This in it self has nothing to do with systemd as such, just because
Fedora introduced the empty /var at the same time (tmpfs mounted /var) .

 Hope this clears it up?

Yes. But this version of yafaray only works
with blender until version 2.49b.

Blender 2.62 and up requires the newer yafaray 0.1.5, which can be installed
directly by clicking a single button on the interface.

[ATrpms-devel] New libmatroska and vlc

2013-06-16 Thread Paulo Cavalcanti
Axel,

you will have to rebuild vlc on rhel6 because of the new libmatroska 1.4.

As far as I know, vlc does not build with libdvbpsi 1.0.
You will have to force the previous version 0.2.2:

BuildRequires: libdvbpsi-devel 1.0

Re: [ATrpms-devel] YafaRay

2013-06-16 Thread Paulo Cavalcanti
The normal plugin (local) installation goes to

~/.config/blender/2.67/scripts/addons/yafaray

and the system wide goes to:

/opt/blender-2.67b-linux-glibc211-x86_64/2.67/scripts/addons/yafaray

in case blender is installed in /opt (what I do in rhel6).

I do not know why there is no 64 bit version of the linux plugin
for the latest 2.67b version. There is a working version for Mac OS,
though...

Maybe it is not a waste of time to repack this new yafaray version after
all ...

Just out of curiosity, how does the direct install work? For each user
under his home, or does it require root authorization and if so, where
does the download land? /usr/local, /opt?

2013-05-17 Thread Paulo Cavalcanti
 It was using /usr/sbin/depmod.

Although this works on F17, F18, rhel6 still uses /sbin/depmod.

I think this is the wrong line:

macros.atrpms:%__depmod %(echo %{expand:%%__depmod_%{distid}} | grep '^%'
/dev/null  echo /usr/sbin/depmod || echo %{expand:%%__depmod_%{distid}})

I am just using the previous macro version on rhel6
(atrpms-rpm-config-201-3.noarch.rpm) ...

Of course, this means you will have to rebuild all kmdls for rhel6 ...

both came from fusion:

http://people.atrpms.net/~pcavalcanti/srpms/libshairport-1.2.1-2.20121218git16395d8.fc17.src.rpm

However, the real problem is afps-ng, which has a wrong include path in
afp.h.
I fixed the package:

http://people.atrpms.net/~pcavalcanti/srpms/afpfs-ng-0.8.1-9.fc17.4.src.rpm

The new afps-ng only affects the building. You do not need to supply it on
ATrpms.
You can use it only in your building environment, if you prefer...

The problem was not building, but installing ...

The kmdl generated had an explicit dependency on /usr/bin/depmod,

Clearly, this package is also broken, because its size is too small:

Can you recreate it?

Thanks.

I got the same error when I tried to install the 304.64 driver (I'm on the
304.51 driver). I believe that the 304.51 driver introduced these files
(they weren't in the 302 driver). What is the appropriate way to handle
this? I'm sure I could simply ignore the error, but for those who want a
clean install (or to leave legacy drivers installed in case they need to
return to them), we might want to fix this issue too.

 Sorry to be a PITA!

This was happening before.
nvidia-cuda-proxy-control is a new file, which appeared
in the 300 series. Since it is unversioned, and the previous package
is not being removed, the conflict appears.

We can either supply it in a separate package, or just
filter it as we did with libnvcuvid.so

In the next package, I will deal with this issue. For now,
just use sudo rpm -Uvh --force

Fails on rhel6 (and rhel5 BTW) with a dependency on libjpeg-turbo-devel.

This is because you built the wrong package:

http://people.atrpms.net/~pcavalcanti/srpms/xine-ui-0.99.7-2.fc17.src.rpm

Note the 2 instead of the 1 of the original link.
I have both in my atrpms area, but the version
0.99.7-1 does not depend on libjpeg-turbo ...

  http://people.atrpms.net/~pcavalcanti/srpms/gnump3d-3.0-5.fc17.src.rpm

 Fails on all platforms with
File must begin with /: %{_unitdir}/gnump3d.service

Is _unitdir some new rpm variable set for systemd? It failed on f17 as
well, what package is providing that macro?

Yes it is:

macros.systemd:%_unitdir /usr/lib/systemd/system

It comes in systemd-44-20.fc17.x86_64.

And F18 is using another set of more powerful macros. Really funny ...

By the way, what do you prefer, having two different
packages one for systemd (F16 and above)
an a different one for rhel, or a single package with a bunch of
conditional statements?

gnump3d should have stayed in version 3.0.4 for rhel, because the new
package uses systemd only.

The package works fine, but it has two new unversioned files:

%{_bindir}/nvidia-cuda-proxy-control
%{_bindir}/nvidia-cuda-proxy-server

Therefore, when upgrading to a newer version
they will conflict, and one must force the installation.

On the other hand, if one just removes
nvidia-graphics304.51-304.51-149.fc17.x86_64 before hand, then the obsolete
clause is not written in /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf

I do not know what is the best way to solve this issue ... (maybe excluding
these files??).

To fix the kmod dependency is quite simple.

That is it. Rebuilt kmdls will install just fine...

It seems that you removed xine-lib 1.20.1
from F16 and F15 stable. Can you bring them back?

xine-lib 1.2 offers new goodies, such as vdpau support, but it really has
to be in bleeding
for quite some time.

We are experiencing a lot of multimedia updates:

gstreamer went to 0.11
vlc to 2.0
xine to 1.2
mpg123 to 1.14

We have to be extra careful not to break anything.
vlc 2.0, for instance, has some problems, which
demand for another release as soon as it is available.

I am trying to update everything to the last
stable release, so we can test the new stuff thoroughly.

Thanks.

this is the new vlc plugin for firefox:

installing alsa-lib 1.0.24 on rhel6 breaks flash plugin pulse support.
Therefore, using flash via firefox or chrome precludes any other

I have been struggling with this problem for a long time, and the only
solution
is reinstalling the original alsa-lib 1.0.22 from RedHat.

Therefore, on rhel 6, one should use:

  --without opencv --without xcb

xcb is pretty crucial for X video playback, without it vlc is video
 playback
is severely limited. Instead the solution I used is including xcb-1.7
statically, which seems to work fine.

 See here for my spec-file:
 http://pkgrepo.linuxtech.net/el6/testing/spec-files/vlc.spec

 And the source rpm:

 The binary rpms are under:

 http://pkgrepo.linuxtech.net/el6/testing/x86_64/

I upgraded libxcb to 1.7 in rhel6 and F12 and so far so good (sonames are
the same).
Fedora rules are against static links, but on the other I am
upgrading a core package.

Everything is working just fine. This is what I am using now:

http://people.atrpms.net/~pcavalcanti/srpms/vlc-2.0.0-1.el6.src.rpm

http://people.atrpms.net/~pcavalcanti/srpms/live-2012.02.04-1.fc12.src.rpm

http://people.atrpms.net/~pcavalcanti/srpms/libxcb-1.7-1.fc14.src.rpm

According to my tests, only dvb-t is broken. The rest is working as
expected.

As you can see, I tested it on old systems, but not on rhel5 yet...

Yes, that's exactly the reason why I chose to include xcb statically in vlc
2.0, I think upgrading a core RHEL library like xcb is quite risky and far
less desireable than breaking the no-static-libs rule.

Maybe if we change the test for the minimum libxcb from 1.6 to 1.5 nothing
will change.

This is the changelog for libxcb:

http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/x11-libs/libxcb/ChangeLog?view=markup

I see only bug fixes...

Even if we build using 1.7, vlc installs on systems with 1.5, because
there is no difference whatsoever in the sonames.

 http://people.atrpms.net/~pcavalcanti/srpms/mp3splt-gtk-0.7.1-9.fc14.src.rpm

If you build mp3splt-gtk for F14 (gtk3 is broken on F14), you should use:

 --without gtk3

Unfortunately, it does not build for rhel6 any more (needs gtk2 = 2.20).

A last remark. For being able to communicate with audacious, it is
 necessary to compile mp3splt-gtk
using gtk3 and audacious 3 or gtk2 and audacious 2.

Since the soname of audacious libs 2.5 and 3 are the same, according to my
 tests, it does not matter
which version one uses at runtime. Therefore, you can choose building for
 F15 and F16 using gtk3 or gtk2 (and
the appropriate audacious version should be picked up during the
 compilation).

 Thanks.

I patched the configure.ac file and mp3splt-gtk also builds for rhel6 now.

Just use --without gtk3

Same .src.rpm
