So camlorn is apparently writing his own sound library because he found OpenAL was much too complex and full of bugs for anything that had more than 256 sounds as well as it being chock full of broken features and bad design blunders.I personally thought OpenAL looked really awesome with the x, y and z coordinate system. But 250 sounds is crazy! Also, I cant live with horrible error detection, so that instantly puts a redflag against OpenAL for me.Has anyone used audiere or FMOD? FMOD has come out with this new license for Indi developers that they get one of their libraries free, but Im not sure if it has an API. They are one of those peculiar companies who think GUIs are cool!Audiere was last updated in 2006, but despite that, it seems to have a very nice set of features. Im not sure if it has a python wrapper though.Is sox considered a sound library?

Hi.Im not sure on this, so here is a wild guess:You might be able to find software based keyboards, install them in the control panel in the language settings, and just switch to the other software keyboard by pressing the left alt and left shift keys.is the Russian keyboard differently than the english keyboard, i mean, does it have more or less keys on the keyboard? If not, you should be able to just install an other software kkeyboard and switch when you need to use it.The danish hardware based keyboard is like the english keyboard. There are the same amount of keys, but some of the keys are changed. But I can easily just install the english keyboard, switch, get used to the english software based keyboard on the danish hardware based keyboard.I hope it makes sense.

hi.ofcorce, the russian keyboard is different than the english keyboard, because it uses the cerilic alphabet.here they are:йцукенгшщзхъэждлорпавыфячсмитьбюif your screen reader isnt read that, note that i typed the russian letters.but i found on the internet something writen in old russian which was spoken in the russ of kiev, in the 10th century.there were letters and sines which are not in the modern russian.ive installed the english keyboard, hebrew, russian, arabic, ukrainien, german deutch, georgian and japanies.kamochek.kamochek.

Hello,Thanks for all the replies. Just a quick note, I do know python and other languages; it’s the audio gaming part I’m now looking into. I know that Road to rage has been able to do a sort of 3d affect (not completely), but is able to put sound behind the player as well as in front (at least I think so). I am probably going to develop the games in python, so if anyone has any suggestions for a good sound engine for that, then please let me know. The reason I want to use python instead of say, pure basic is because I know there is a good screen reader lib, plus many more. Also having used the language before is a plus.Thanks,Josh.

Well, i meant, i cant even know where my enemies are. I know it is playable - i nearly beat the boss of Marvel VS. Capcom but well...As for sighted players, my brother completely owned me with his warmachines proton cannon combos! And, i didnt know that fighting games have stereo channels cause all the playthroughs i saw on the internet has no panning and all the sounds come from the middle... I went into playtest mode and it worked fine the first time... But for any other times i tried playtesting, the steel data is no longer there. Or at least, i can get past the steel data without the bomb exploding and blasting it into bits. Whys that?Regards,Kenzon

Im pretty sure the signs you read were done either by a program specifically designed to write that language or something else. But the point is... windows by itself probably doesnt have any support for these languages.

I personally like online registration best, sinse it doesnt require you to muck about with activation codes but does deter piracy (dolphin have been using it for years for the Supernova screen reader). As for constant internet requirements to run and offline game, well while not intrinsically problematic since most people will likely have a net connection anyway, it might be good to run the game without for times when a net connection isnt possible, eg, if I were playing the game on a train with no wifi (or more likely, one where the wifi is stupidly expensive).If however it is an absolute requirement of the game to need the net, well it would be nice if the game could take advantage of this. Score posting and reqding of online scoreboards within the game at the least, but maybe some other things like statistics tracking or achievements too.Have fun at the camp and the fare.

Hello, the problem is that my computer is connected via a LAN cable. I want to connect my iPhone to the internet. I tried out a method writen down in a iPhone newsblogg on how to connect the phone to a LAN routher with a bit of cabling, but in the end it should have worked fine. But thats not the case for me. So I wanted to try, if I could recaive that LAN connection from the routher, and pass it on through my wlan adapter to enable mmy own network to share it other devicess too. Is this somehow possible?

Hello Roro,How should i sync the folder?Also everyone, what exactly should you do to throw bombs into corrupt sectors? The readme says to press alt while still running, and assuming im on a corrupt sector edge, ill die. If i press alt+the direction i want to throw the bomb to, it didnt work as well - assuming a corrupt sector is at my right, itll say you put the bomb that youre holding down then ill fall into the sector. So now what? (I asked this not because i have trouble in the my music folder, its just i really dont know how to throw it into a corrupt sector, and always fall inside the sector instead).Also, will invincibility prevent us from being killed by the fire? Hi.Lol! This is a very wrong article. Its only Aprone who have made Swamp up from the ground. From the very beginning, Swamp was just a small test game for haloween, where the goal of the game simply was to test if blind people could use the mouse to play a first person shooter. Just read the first 5 pages or so and youll see what I mean.Poor kit who trys to take credit for having made Swamp together with Aprone! Lol. Such fake articles shouldnt be allowed.Or maybe I misunderstand the article? Does it only say that the 16 year old guy have translated the game? Or is there any wrong translation in the article? Im just rather confused.

Hi.Yes this is possible for sure if your laptop have wifi.Go into the preferences for your wifi on your laptop, and choose to share the network and there you can set it up as a hotspot. This has been available even from the early days of Windows xp. You can also use your iPhone as a hotspot if you needs to. I do that pretty often when Im having issues with my internet.

Due to the restricted internet, I was not able to finish the huge work of Latin stuff for the others to practise for the exam; So, I activated the hotspot of my iPhone, hoping the bad cellular connection would be stable, only this time. Well, it eventually did and the work for which I spent half of my well-deserved Sunday could be successfully delivered to my Magister, so YAY! However, it was a doc-file, and small enough. If I would have been unlucky, the file was too big and the connection would break at half way.

Frastlin, this may not help you with learning Trig but it will help you apply what you learn to gaming. Try a book called Programming Math and Physics by Wendy Staller. The example code is in C/C++, but it is an invaluable resource on applied math and physics in games. It basically gives you many common formulas and how to apply them to various game programming situations.

Probably, if you have the adaptor and drivers, yes. Though probably easier and simpler to just transfer the SIM from your dongle to your phone, and use that.Itd be nice if you could automatically fail over from wired to wireless, but getting that to work automatically is really hard. The best solution seems to be a router with a USB port, for accepting a 3G dongle; it can then detect if your main link goes down, and fail you over to 3G, so all your devices seemlessly pick up connectivity without you having to do anything.

Capcom games have used stereo for a while now.MK took a while to get there (I dont remember any MK game using stereo well before MK Vs DCU), but even without stereo, MK4 is pretty accessible (Drat, just realized I dont have the disk with me, otherwise Id go beat it right now just to be sure I still can).War Machine is weirdly popular in Marvel Vs Capcom, from what I can tell. But just block, highjump and punish, if theyre the type who spams his stand in one place and use lengthy beam attacks abilities.Spider-mans the one that gives me trouble in the hands of a human player. Cant really block his jumping attacks without knowing theyre coming, and hes especially good at those. Pretty much have to try and predict your opponent in a meta sense.Actually, a couple years ago I wanted to try and do something that would have let me port the fighting system in DB:GU and Jeqo Prime to a less chaotic format.
  I got the fighting engine working, but didnt go much further. I tried writing a basic AI for it, but said AI is quite ridiculous. I suppose I could theoretically make it open source and let people make their own characters. Hmm.(It supports combos, but not explicitly. Ill explain it if I ever upload it.)

The first time ive playtested my stage, the steel data was there, but if i went into builder mode and then playtest again, the steel data seems to be gone. Theyre in a .sync format because theyre not fully downloaded. You should wait. Theyre about 600 or more MB. It first creates the folder and than puts the files in it.

Probably, if you have the adaptor and drivers, yes. Though probably easier and simpler to just transfer the SIM from your dongle to your phone, and use that.Itd be nice if you could automatically fail over from wired to wireless, but getting that to work automatically is really hard. The best solution seems to be a router with a USB port, for accepting a 3G dongle; it can then detect if your main link goes down, and fail you over to 3G, so all your devices seamlessly pick up connectivity without you having to do anything.

Which Game Audio Software?

Hello Everyone,I was just wondering which game audio software is the most widely used in the industry?FMOD Studio OR Wwise?In other words, if I get a game audio job from a game company and if I generally use FMOD Studio for example, would the game company want me to use Wwise instead of FMOD Studio?Do I have to learn both softwares in order to get jobs in the game industry?Thanks upfront for your thoughts about this!!!

Yes you can. And its not 600 MB, its 2 or more GB. Hahaha, I now noticed that. Yes I know the Musics boss very well: He throws bombs at you. I think it cant be effected by the laser, am I right? He/it can throw more than a bomb. But you can kill that boss before the bombs expload, or like you said, throw them in the sector.

hi,thanks for the advice although it seems nearly impossible.as of inserting the dongle sim in phone, thats not doable, because the dongle sim is quite large compared to the one in phone, and the phone sim has 3g already. what i wanted is to having the phone use the pcs internet without disconnecting the dongle from pcregardssid

Agreed with dark. if an internet connection is required for anti piracy, then its much more acceptable if its used for things like scoreboards, or perhaps multiplayer modes in the future. That said though, Ive had bad experiences with things like ILM for jaws, as it really does inconvenience legitimate users way more than software pirates. If the will to crack antipiracy protection for anything is there, someone will find a way to do it.

Hi,The trouble for many of us is were very familiar with games like top speed 3, but not familiar with how mainstream racing games or physics work, so were not sure how to take curves. Do we just turn in the direction, or is there more at play here? Im still finding it quite hard to play, and more often than not I end up crashing. I try straightening up but it still doesnt really help.I thought I was doing an OK job but now its like Im back to square one.This game doesnt really need changing, as I love the complexity, but a little more explanation is required. How much do you turn, is it infinite or is there a limit to how much the arrow keys turn you, etc.

They wouldnt shut down the psn... because the ps4 is also going to be using that service. Theyve shut down support for some older ps3 games and their online servers... but the psn itself is still open and will stay that way unless something drastic happens like it did last year when the psn was hacked.

I can post the ten lines needed to apply a lowpass filter to a sound, which is a cheep and efficient way to make things sound at least a bit different when theyre behind you. Unfortunately, this is C++ and wont help unless you have a way to write custom DSP callbacks-you have to get the filter in the pipeline. Recording an in-front and behind sound is also feasible; you can apply the filters with audacity and encode as ogg, which is small and avoids the legal issues of MP3, so having lots of sounds wont kill you. Ive not played Road to Rage, but doubt it implements a full HRTF. Lowpass filters are simple enough, however, and provided by most libraries. If someone wants to go down the road of how to design and implement simple filters, we can talk offline-Ive got some things that might help-but be warned, for here there be post-calculus mathematics (that said, using a lowpass filter someone else designed is just cut-and-pa
 ste).Pygame is where its at for simple and quick audio in Python. I wrote Audiogame_engine, which provides a simple SDL window, keyboard, and mouse handling interface, including handling tick timing and allowing control and menu overlays. This still requires audio, unfortunately, so falling back to Pygame is probably what most are doing. Camlorn_audio crashes a lot in Python, mostly due to error propagation issues and people never actually being able to provide test cases that would crash it reliably; nevertheless, Audiogame_engine works well and allows a lot of stuff. Disclaimer: Ive not tried to combine it with Pygame, and Pygame probably offers something similar in functionality if you look hard enough.As for being on topic with the what kind of games, CAE really hit it on the head: weve got simple side-scrollers out our ears, space invaders out our ears, and card games
  galore. More things like BK3, but in English, could be cool: if you havent played it, BK3 manages to transcend the side-scrollers are one-dimensional lines, providing an experience at least close to what sighted side-scrollers are like. I personally want something similar to Zelda or the newer Metroids, but thats hard to do well (the older Metroids are also fun and doing something similar in audio is probably quite doable-theyre only side-scrollers, and BK3 managed to overturn a lot of my assumptions about such). But seriously, basically anything goes-a better question is what kind of game do you want, because youll probably have players no matter what it is and youre the one who has to be motivated to finish it.

Hello Kamochek.Well you could get goldwave which is not free but you can use the demo version for a long time. Also, audacity is very good and that is free and I think wavepad is also free. Any of these programs can convert audio files into wave or ogg format.Hth.

Weather that is rewinding, panning, playing different audio formats, adding echo, recording, generating audio, dealing with midi, or doing anything that has to do with controlling the sounds you wish to have in your game.Most libraries will have a way to play a sound, pause a sound, stop a sound and change the
  volume of a sound. Past that, it really depends on what library you choose.

If you think you are up to it, anything with multiplayer support would be awesome!I would recommend reading some game development books, they talk about how to create your game so it looks quality and professional. Frankly, that is what separates the good games from the not-so-good games.
