The curser keys are the arrow keys, ie, the up, down, left and right arrows on the bottom right of your keyboard near the right control key, its those you use in sound puzzle. As to games off the internet there are actually a huge amount, it depends upon what your interested in. When you use the search archive link on the front of sight you can specify what conditions your looking for, so can look for free or abandonware games specifically. If your into puzzle games there are lots, from blank block to some of the tyle puzzle games from spoonbill, there are various traditional card and word games like solitare, uno, battleships etc. There are some side scrollers and fps games like terraformers and superliam (which used to be commercial but isntt any longer), and there are stratogy games too like Soundrts, Tactical battle, Park boss an traders of known space. Also dont forget Jeremy Kaldobski aka Aprone, his stuff is always a lot of
  fun.If your a fan of rpgs, Id also highly suggest looking for the ability to buy entombed and paladin of the sky, they are slightly expensive, but will take you hours of playing.

Well if you want the demo versions you can use the wayback machine to look up the site as it was in about 2008 or so. Unfortunately though there isnt a legal way to get the games sinse justin effectively dropped them off the map in 2013 and didnt make them freeware, and we cant really distribute full versions on the forum without getting into legal trouble.

All of the music and sounds are stored in the data file exactly for this reason, so other people dont just take them and use them in their own productions without giving credit. A lot of time went into designing them, I helped with some of them like those massive explosions with the boss demon which required a lot of layering, the voice actors had to spend their free time recording and that also took a few hours, I think you get the idea.

Regarding the issue of the game, well copywrite law be buggered as far as this forum goes, I am more concerned with what is a fare solution in the best interests of audiogame promotion and development. I dont believe this problem has come up before, sinse usually even if there was a previous free version of a game, the paid version is so full featured there would be no point playing the free one. For example, none of the free versions of games like Entombed or judgement day were as full featured as the existing demo of t
 he game that people could play currently, let alone the full paid game, while in a case like Swamp it is the online capability that people pay for, thus meaning any version is pretty much equal, (and why not have the latest one). On the one hand, it is true if Mason has decided to make the game commercial people should not be playing the same game for free. On the other, mason did make the free version free in the first place with no restrictions. The important question seems to be, given that the free version is! free, what extra has mason added to the current paid version to make people want to buy the game? Perhaps an amicable solution would be for Mason to treat this free earlier version as a demo, and then add features to the full game to make people wish! to pay for it, indeed Id personally not buy a new game from a new dev without trying a demo or at least hearing a very complete audio demonstration (not for ten dollars), thus having a free demo would solv
 e that problem too. That was what Cae Jones did in the case of Dark legion escape and it worked fine.

Im asking because I own a harpsichord, which is one of the most humidity-sensitive instruments in existence I believe. I am using Dropbox for a long time now and I still have to say its awesome. Its the best cloud service Ive ever seen. Due to my less storage, I am using Google Drive, you have 15 GB at the beginning, thats very cool. I tried Drive in earlier times, when the accessibility was not very good, but they improved it at this point and now it is working well.

In version 1.01, at least, theres a weird bug where the game doesnt close after credits, and you just stay in this really small screen with nothing on it. You can use the control key anywhere, you can fly, you can use shield, but theres really nothing to do. I think someone referred to this. If you hit escape here, it will close. I think it was just there for beta testing or something, not sure.

Well, I do know that Aprone has some YouTube videos that demonstrate different coding techniques on his channel, but as well as the visual aspects he does thoroughly describe what he is doing and explains each line of code more or less. While i wouldnt suggest them for learning language syntax or anything like that, to the beginner I feel they could be useful. He doesnt use object-oriented-programming, however I still feel that they help introduce many programming concepts that beginners ask about.

The thing is that Aprone recorded videos, so a person who can read the text can still review the code on their own. Pause the video, read, then continue.I think, however, what Aprone is doing is more to explain some of his techniques and concepts, rather than the language hes coding in.

I have recently discovered that, with a bit of glue code to get it working with Pygame/etc, it makes a better event scheduler than anything we can homebrew. You seem to be at the point where it wouldnt fry your brain, so you might want to look at some basic tutorials. Twisted was originally for a game, even if everyone focuses on network programming. Games wouldnt be using the deferred nearly as much, but it does provide everything you need and the concepts you learn also apply to database and network access, among other things.That said, the game Im doing using it is not yet released, etc, etc, etc. But Ive been getting huge mileage out of Twisted and something called the entity component system patte
 rn. Among other things, this has coincidentally provided an easy way to automatically serialize the world, separated my code out into different files like you wouldnt believe, provided a method whereby i can effectively ship the entire game state across the internet while it is running, and can do really crazy stuff without it crashing (youre a player. Youre also a door). Most of this was just an accident of the design, which is why Im so impressed. Also, a lot of the complexity for this type of thing-at least for a first person shooter-goes away if you actually make projectile objects when the gun fires and let the physics engine simulate them. This provides a degree of separation between the gun is firing and x is damaged, and lets the x is damaged code also apply to other stuff like environmental obstacles.If you do go down this road, the magical piece youre looking for is called @inli
 neCallbacks. I cant explain this without explaining Twisted, but when you get to the point wherein youre thinking about how youre going to need 20 functions to do everything its time to Google this instead of giving up. #inlineCallbacks was the piece I was missing when I first looked at twisted and, consequently, was directly responsible for me not learning it sooner.

Ive noticed a weird phenomenon while wielding the machete in warehouse missions. When I am near, but not that near, a wall and am attacked, I get the hitting wall sound when I swing at a target, no matter which way Im facing. Changing weapons clears the problem. This has killed me three or more times, almost including a time on map 1 when I was out in the open. Is there something odd about the machete?

I think he wants a way to shoot a machinegun.This is... hmm... complicated. It can be more or less complicated, depending on the degree of realism. Tracking individual bullets would probably be a bit much, but doing it all at once might be a bit too simple.This brings me back to my friend the Finite State Machine, or at least my (possibly broken) implementation. In your previous thread, It was extremely tempting to redo your whole enemy class as a Finite State Machine.Im not sure doing it that way would be good for teaching, though. :-/

In BGt, yeah. In Python, well, Im writing the velocity loop no matter what, and Ode is right there ready to handle my collision, and if I do it the way youre suggesting then I end up actually writing more code by far. All I need is a countdown to when the next bullet can fire (usually a time in seconds) and a countdown on the bullet object to when it destroys itself (velocities are fixed, so the calculation is straightforward; any system with an accurate timer can handle the death for me). The code to actually do everything collides with everything has zero special cases in it.

Danny, I think youve touched on my problem. There are some of the games like Aprones software that I cannot play on this Windows8.1 64bit system. I now do suspect that it is as a result of not having the older forms of directx which is required for mostly vb6 and vb.net programs to run. The only way I know of to get this libraries is to download aprones stuff again and to register the dx8.1vb library, and another thats in most of his packs. I thought those libraries cannot be registered on Win8.1, because of them being that old, but I think I should try registering them anyway. If indeed that fixes my problem, then Ill be grateful, if not...there is not much else I can do in order to try and play this game!Folks now onto something else. Dan has given the link to DMNB multiple times, and it has always been the same since the first post. So: Wouldnt it be easier to just select the link, copy it to a notepad text document, or ms-word, if you
  have to. Then just paste the link from the saved text file on your desktop. Then itll make a bit less work for Danny, and a bit more time to actually fix the issues. Programming isnt a sport. Concentration is required in heavy loads, and to have to post the Dropbox linkage each time an update is posted, takes time. Time that could have been better used. Remember, Im not a boss, its just a suggestion I make in order to save up a bit of time for the programmers of DMNB. Copy/paste the link from the first post into a notepad text file, then save it. Next time Dan updates the game, you know where you saved the link, and so you can select and copy it from the text file back in to your browser. A countdown to when the next bullet can fire is pretty much the major thing I was going for.In this case, I think he wants to shoot off a burst of ~10 bullets, either all at once or rapidly.Hence, state changes: start shooting plays the sound, fires the first bullet, possibly sets how many bullets remain. Call the update method continuously anyway, and the update method will fire the next bullet as needed, or set us to the cooldown state if done (and the ready to shoot again state after cooldown). It can be simplified so one doesnt need special states for everything, but thats pretty much where I was going with that.

Im just incredibly against state machines. They have their purposes, but for games they seem to just be really prone to combinatorial explosion. There are better things, just new programmers arent ready for them.
