Re: Installing 32 bit Windows 7 Home Premium Well, it's done, I'm now running full time on the SSD! Gawd I hate reloading Windows! For fun I put the old hard drive back in and timed a few things like starting up, starting a fewprograms right after booting, and a few other tasks. Then put the SSD back in and timed the exact same set of tasks. On average, with theh SSD in the system, the various tasks took about half the time they did with the hard drive. In a word, I'll take it! Re: The Imhotep Labyrinth as a Game of Vision
Re: The Imhotep Labyrinth as a Game of Vision Well you can always not only adapt the game, but adapt some of the rules. You don't know the meaning of the word terror until you've played 8 player blindfold jenga .Just to explain if your not familiar, JEnga is a game where you build a tower out of little rectangular wooden blocks. You have a layer of three crosswise with the long sides across, then a layer of three lengthwise with their short sides across. When you've used all the bricks to make the tower, which I think when done comes to about 10 or so layers, each player takes a turn to remove one of the bricks from the tower and place it on the top to form new levels, obviously the one who causes the hole mess to collapse loses, but playing with 8 people, some sighted some blind as I once did on a combined skeeing holliday, but all waring blindfolds for fareness is the meaning of horror! < p>Yes, there were a lot of accidental collapsings but it was pretty hilarious for that reason . Of course, jenga isn't exactly a board game but it was good fun either way. Re: Having fun with Apple's Siri @Gene, Surprised you haven't heard of Terry Pratchett at least, though if your not a reader fare enough.@Ghost rider, the fox got a good response. In general it seems Siri has a lot of generic "I don't understand" type responses or "what do you mean by that" which aren't that good and only a few funny ones. Just in case you get the stock answer, the bit that amused me with siri's answer to "I love you" was that it gave the response "I bet you say that to all your apple products!" which is just wrong on so many levels! . survive the wild: input, moderating, and fixing. So I decided to post a seperate topic here about survive the wild, not for the main suggestions, but I think I have done a poor job moderating and was hoping the hole blind comunity could give me some answers. I can take critisism but don't explode at me here please. . Just things that are generally making people not want to play this game. I want to please as many people as I can. Theres some things i'm aware of and again input would be apreciated. First is the learning curve, I know the readme isn't complete but I am working on it, and if you guys have suggestions about that please post here. Common things are the coordinates and things, but in real life that's litterily how it is. Another thing I hear discussion about is my moderation and litterily I agree. I, am really, bad, at moderating. I'm glad I noticed it early, heres what my plan is, again i nput would be apreciated here. I was going to make this rules document and get it into as many languages as possible. This way, people would be able to read the rules and the admins would have that strict guideline, including number of warnings and bans. That way the admins arn't running the game and it's not just oh i'm in control, I don't like this person let's do something about it, I've learned personal things are seperate from the game it's self as having to moderate and administrate, but I still think me and all other admins get carried away, and things get immature. Do you think the rules document would be a good idea? That way in most cases, admins can't just randomly ban people, and we have no arguments of oh I got banned for no reason. Another thing I hear is that i'm only 13 and sh ouldn't be devving games, and maybe that's true, maybe it's not. I simply don't think I studied moderation enough and I th ink that is whare I made my mistake. I saw a swamp log recently about the hole thing and many other complants, and I know that sometimes that is what makes a game grow. So I made this topic so people could just post there dislikes and suggestions and so we could calmly talk it out and so I can make the game as enjoyable as possible to everyone. Thanks for reading. Re: What do people believe when it comes to religion and or spirituality?
Re: What do people believe when it comes to religion and or spirituality? Hi bashue, As a genetics student, I just felt the need to point out that there is in fact enough information on the genetic level. Our genomes are very similar to that of other apes; we are most closely related to chimps and bonobos, a bit more distantly related to gorillas, etc. You may say that god created us with a lot of the same genetics as other primates but my problem with that is that we have what are called "pseudogenes", which are genes that no longer work due to some mutation that has rendered them nonfunctional. An example is a gene that allows the production of vitamin C in the body of mammals, the genes is present in primates including humans but it doesn't work. Why would god create us with the same nonfunctional genes as other primates? Also, what about all the hominid fossils that seem to be intermediates between modern humans and other primates? There's australopithecus which is bipedal like us but still has a small brain, homo habilis with a bit bigger brain but still smaller than ours, and apparently the ability to use simple tools, etc. It just seems more likely that humans evolved slowly, step by step from the same primate ancestor that chimps and bonobos evolved from. Why are we so different from them then? If two species evolve separately they can become very different. Look at chimps and bonobos, they diverged much later from each other than we diverged from them, so are very closely related, but have very different behaviours. Or dogs, who are all descended from wolf ancestors, so are also closely related genetically, but yet can seem so different from each other. Hope that makes sense. Re: Survive the Wild!
Re: Survive the Wild! I've seen this game come up from time to time before, but I honestly never even looked at it. I figured it would be another Castaways clone. [[wow]], was I wrong. I have to say that this game already rivals Swamp, and I did not think that possible. Having to bass your direction on the sun is ingenious, and it's exactly how it would be done in the real world. If you guys can't handle it, I guess you just didn't pay close enough attention in O&M or get mobility training at all. If I were a mobility teacher, I would want to use this game to teach my students all about directional orientation. So here are my thoughts and requests. First, when you hit escape, it would be very nice if, when not in a battle, the game would confirm your choice to exit. If you are in a battle, it would simply ignore the escape key entirely.Second, I agree with many posters that mouse-controlled rotation would be perfect for this game. You could zone in on something much f aster that way.Third, as an alternative to a compass, though such a thing might be easy enough to make, what about using stellar navigation at night? Sighted people can simply look at the stars, decide which is the north star, and bass their navigation on that. So there could be even a whole cluster of tones, and only one of them, by being just a little different than the others, would be the right one and would point you north. As far as fishing goes, I don't even need a skillet. A skewer would do the job rather well. I could get four or five on one skewer. After you add animals, you should have to attach bird feathers to the shaft of your arrows, so a plain carved branch could be a skewer. Also, when animals are introduced to the game, we could have water skins, wine skins, and so on. these would hold a lot more than pots, but also be harder to make.Fishing poles need hooks eventually. You might simply make a hook by attaching a thorn to the lure. If we have to use hooks though, we should be able to make stronger line.I think it would also be cool to be able to catch different sizes of fish, and be told what kind or at least weight of fish we caught.Again, thank you for making this game. I could only hope that my kids would get as cojmmitted to something good like this, and it takes a lot of commitment, what with all the complaints and griping. Have a good one, and I hope to get to chat with you on your next event. Re: The Imhotep Labyrinth as a Game of Vision
Re: The Imhotep Labyrinth as a Game of Vision That's kind of a bummer, but I've found that almost any board game/card game can be made accessible with overlays/braille/using glue or tape to mark piece differientation like black pieces versus white pieces. You can even use glue to mark out squares on a regular game board...used to play Candyland when I was little and had more sight and those little cards can be brailled on for like 2R for 2 red or something like that. I merely wanted to point out that, as stated above in the first post about finally a accessible game for blind/sighted just wasn't the case as there have been many and actually continue to be some produced if you know where to look for them...usually on U.K. sites though. You have to open with Notepad the English version and translate each line after equal sign. Save it with Polish.lng and everything is done. You can try them without sending to me. Re: FTL (faster than light) I've played it abit, since I know someone who has a copy. It does seem to have a number of accessibility features built into it, including a number of keyboard shortcuts, but those are largely unassigned by default. Menu's like the Title Screen, New Game, and In Game menu's seem to be purely mouse driven with no audio cues for the buttons or selections themselves either. There also doesn't seem to be any keyboard shortcuts for targeting sections of enemies (or your) ships either, and the resulting use of more specialized beam weapons where you target their path. When selecting ships you can use the left and right arrow keys to pick a type of ship, and up and down to pick any different ship layouts you've unlocked, again no audio cues for anything, and other functions like setting difficult, advanced mode (in advanced edition) and starting the game seem to all be mouse driven.Handling some things like menu's and such could be made more ac cessible, but the targetting system could be abit more problematic for them. Not to derail this thread, but, is Sonar a distribution of Linux or just a program that makes Linux accessible, such as a screen reader?I ask because several years ago I used Scientific Linux at work and noticed it had a whole set of accessibility option. At the time I could still see so I didn't need them so I didn't look too close at them. Re: Trying choiceofgames
Re: Trying choiceofgames Well threadcromancy here is due to me trying another choiceofgames title. I was having a train journey and great as adventure to fate is, it's possible to have an overload of rpg turn based battles sans much description so I fancied something at the other end of the spectrum and thus dove into another choiceofgames title. Because of my still! ongoing reluctance to try something longer, and because I wanted to now try one of the choiceofgames titles as I did one of the hosted games last time I went for "to the city of the clouds", which I particularly fancied sinse back when I first discovered choiceofgames I kept seeing it advertised. In general it was a bit of fluff, and some fun, though not perhaps as fluffy or fun as Yetti's patrol officer, indeed with all the descriptions of drinks and of rather casual flings I sort of got the idea the author was trying to be partly commic but didn't quite nake it there given they also wanted to tell a sto ry with nasty columbian gangsters and death traps. I had fun though playing a clever and rugged character with a fondness for boose and a tendency to be taken in by pretty men, I called her Frances Waterfield which probably should give people who get the reference an idea of where I got the concept from .On the one hand, the writing was very colourful, and I certainly got the idea of being in south america from jungles to incan ruins to busses full of locals and chickens and a lack of cleanliness. On the other hand, firstly the choices were pretty sign posted, the game kept asking "how do you feel" which might as well have translated as "what stats do you want" this made the hole game feel far more literally like a "choose your own adventure" than the usual care required in one of the cog titles, sinse you pretty much chose how th e story went with little to no ambiguity, or at least not very muuch, indeed I only made one major mistake in the hole thing by losing my camera. Perhaps this was because the game didn't have percentage bars but scales that went up and down by increments, though some of your stat titles were nicely descriptive for your character. What really! irritated me about this one though was it's length and comparative lack of progress or really major interest, it was more like "stick your head around the door of city to the clouds" than "journey to the city of the clouds", indeed I was shocked when the game ended really quite abruptly, and while (as usual with many cog games), first play through I didn't get the best ending but the middle to good one (primarily because of losing my camera), things seemed so short and lacking in consequence or tention I don't really want to play for the more major one at all. This is probab ly the worst of the main cog range I've played thus far, though admitedly that might be because my desire for a shorter game bit me in the proverbial, and I got one that was so short it was positively a sketch, although there is still no reason for why most of the choices were so sign posted.Heck, choice of the dragon is equally short, rather funnier, but is far less blatant with it's choices, (I've replayed through dragon three times and finished with wildly different stats, even though the events were broadly the same). Actually, while I'm not going to be demanding my money back or anything like that, given broadsides and dragon are both free, I do wonder why this one was paid, sinse really I felt it was probably lower over all quality wise than either of those.Still, at least that has learnt me, next time I try one of these I'll not care about length and just go for what sounds fun at the time. Re: What do people believe when it comes to religion and or spirituality?
Re: What do people believe when it comes to religion and or spirituality? Greetings tward. For the first time ever, I've had a full explanation of why someone may not believe in a higher power. If only others explained it as well as you, there would be no real arguments, at least not with those willing to rely on their intellects. Yes I know that may sound insulting but I've heard both creationists and evolutionists say 'this is the way, this is what we believe and do not question'. If you don't mind, I'd like to delve into that reason a little more and propose a different way of looking at it.Firstly for this to work, let's strip out religion all together and simply consider God or the gods as entities. As a being or beings you cannot see, are you open if not to believing in them, then open to the possibility that they could exist? If so or more importantly if not, why not? Is it that there is no higher power at all? I myself believe that Lord Abah Jehovah God is the creator and teacher but I don't b elieve that any one religion holds all the answers. I firmly believe that if you want rules and the like, ask Mother/Father God herself.Secondly, creation or evolution? I always ask why not both? I'm going to research this after posting this but wasn't it a Christian who came up with the big bang theory? Yes in this case I mean theory in the scientific sense, not the layman's sense. Why can't we say God created the universe via the big bang? It surprises me to find that the creation account and the big bang theory are rather similar in nature. 'And God said, let there be light and God saw that the light was good'. That isn't a direct quote by the way. Now in the big bang theory, everything exploded from a single point. We don't know what exploded or why but there was a great deal of light from the central point. Accordingly, I don't think the visible light started to be visible until 40 years after the big bang. We cannot see p rior to that point because the universe at that point was too energetic and there wasn't enough light to see by. Also, the stuff in the cosmic microwave background wasn't as smooth or as uniformly distributed as it is now. Also, why can we not say that God created all and each life form according to its kind evolved to what we know today? I cannot believe that we evolved from fish, plants , apes or any other animal due to the fact that there is missing information on the genetic level but I can believe that a prehistoric frog could evolve to the kind of frog we know today. Having said that, I really should class myself as an evolutionary creationist! Just an idea but I see no problem with science and spirituality working together. If the religious powers that be worked with scientists or who're scientists themselves then I think the world would definitely be a better and more exciting place.Thirdly, the existence of God and the gods. I believe in a singular cen tral deity but I see no reason why the other 'gods' cannot exist as well. They could be anything from angels, demons, other spirits, aliens or humanoid societies with advanced technology and meta human abilities. After all, we've advanced so much that some day we're going to surpass our own limitations so why can we not join their ranks? As for the one God verses multiple god theories go and in this case, I'm referring to theory in the layman's sense of the word, human positions change all the time; a queen cannot rule forever. However, if a ruler treats everyone fairly and justly, I don't see too many wishing to overthrow that ruler. If for the sake of argument, the ruler is immortal and the same rules apply, the ruler would rule indefinitely and only those wishing to commit crimes would attempt an overthrow. In the bible we see instances of incerection and others trying to overthrow God. Today, I don't see God doing anything harmful to us, e ven if people are trying to overthrow him/her and briefly bringing back religion, all the religious books out there are different interpretations of what we believe God handed down to us. I actually see more separation between the various religions and the existence of God than I do between science and spirituality. Spirituality explains who and what while science explains the what and how. Finally, other realms, other dimensions and not just heaven and hell, aren't they as plausible as having other planets with sentient life? If the universe is flat then why cannot it be layered to? After all, the visible light can only give us limited information. We cannot see into the gamma or radio wavelengths of light but our radios can pick up radio light as we hear the sound. Also, current theory goes that black holes eats up information and we have no way of prying apart a black hole to find out whether the matter it sucked in is the same on a particle level. Also, on a side note , if energy can neither be created nor destroyed, then could it be possible that we may exist independen

Re: news about King of Dragon Pass on Android!
Re: news about King of Dragon Pass on Android! I hope this works out, it's a shame for android users to miss out on such an awesome game as Kodp. My only worry is The Kodp interface is pretty complex and I know Asharp had to employ a lot of Vo's specific functions such as adding not just text lables but hints to elements to do things like show the stats of your ring and having some text, such as your clan ring's advice output directly to Vo, it wasn't just a question of labelling all the nasty images and letting Vo have at it. I don't know what interface changes are being made to the Android port, if any, or whether Talkback has the same interaction with programs to allow these sorts of elements to be specified, or if not if there is an alternative way to convey the information. I imagine it'll be a tricky business, though the comments from the devs of the port are encouraging, so hopefully they'll follow through and also be willing to work with Android users to get all the info rmation across and make the game playable, because as I said, it's awesome! Re: Survive the Wild!
Re: Survive the Wild! As far as the way the walking system is, I do agree that having to tap the up arrow or down arrow is a bit unintuitive. Also, having to walk around and having to keep pressing n untill it says litely to the left or rite and then having to keep chaing the angle as you walk is really bad and I don't mean this in a harsh or rude.I'll give you an example, if I am trying to run away for an attacking animal or another player and I want to try and run up a tree to try and by me some time, by the time I can work out where the tree is and climb up the tree, I'm aready dead. The reasons are 2 fold. One, the navigating to the tree like I stated above and also the way the trees are represented. The list never gives you the cloest tree in relation to you, it just gives you a whole list of trees so if you have 5 trees near you and the tree you want is the third one, you would have to keep pressing n over and over until you find the tree that you wa nt.If you can find a way to populate the list of objects baste on how close they are to you, that would really help a lot. Re: Having fun with Apple's Siri @Gene, well at least good omens by Terry pratchett and Niel gayman proves those answering machines actually are! the creation of Satan .@Exodus, yep asking siri to sing a song is amusing, though I've been playing around with some random questions and got some fun answers. "what do you think of the iphone" got a good answer, although I've noticed that siri has a set of stock answers to some questions, one of the "What do you think of x" answers was particularly goo d. Re: Which OS should I choose when I use Sonar with vmware player? Sonar GNU/Linux is the OS, but there are several editions of Sonar. If you have ever used ArchLinux and know the basics, go with the net edition. If you want a graphical interface, go with the Gnome edition. Always choose the version according to your architecture (32 or 64 bit). Re: mud clients help/question Hey, thanks to all for the info. I actually did have VIPmud on my XP desktop, but really didn't have tht time to spend playing around with it to figure out just how it worked as that was when I was just to the net in general and didn't realize that lots of games need this port thing and a client to play them.. I still have that computer, but am now running laptop with windows 7 so am going to give it a try again. I do agree that $30 seems rather expensive just to plop in port numbers to play games that are basically free, but I guess its for the coding involved as I own a couple other games from the same developer, but never spent that much on those. Now that thing on sound packs with the Z client sounds good, so will check that out as well and see if I can get some games going. As for scripting, I'm not quite there yet as I'm still working on web coding and haven't messed with JAWS scripting or anything like that, but hope to in future and maybe even deve lop a game of some kind. Re: Survive the Wild!
Re: Survive the Wild! I'd like to add some input. The game was most enjoyable for me when there was more of a grid pattern. But the tile away system is very confusing. I can never find what I'm looking for and it is a huge ordeal for me to find just one item. The game is by no means horrible its just not my type of game. And one other thing, making the game as realistic as possible may make it dull. This is not a jab at you, it's just something I've noticed. A game usually runs off the unreality of the game, and it takes you away from the reality of life. To much realism could turn people off to your game. Re: Having fun with Apple's Siri British English all the way. Eloquence UK English really sucks I hate it very much. It is not british though. He sounds like having put 5 or 10 teeth out of his mouth at a time. Daniel is better if you use it from vocalizer expressive voices on freedom scientific, but from what I've seen while using my friend's iPhone Daniel high quality on iOS is better. Ivona voices in the latest version has also done a pretty good job on improving the british accent and problems on reading British because some words were pronounced like the American one. Still Daniel is better at some points.I myself do not use Siri since I do not own an apple device. I use a similar service on Samsung which is called S voice and when it listens correctly, you can have a lot of fun. I remember having asked her, "What do you think about me?" and she said "I think you are a really good, bright person.""Do you love me?" and she answered "Well, if I had feelings, I certainly would."I also asked her, "What do you think about Samsung phones?" and she said "Samsung is one of the best companies in the world. Many people say so."I have asked her any vulgarl questions like Would you have sex with me, and she said, No thanks. It can be a male or a female, that certainly depends on the TTS currently being used. Now I use Daniel on my phone from the vocalizer TTS that some guys created some times ago. Re: Survive the Wild!
Re: Survive the Wild! hiI understand your mind, sam.But I can't understand the sun system. how to know my direction? The sun system is, only for facing, my facing. Not much location, I can't find water or trees in the unlimited, deadly wilderness, and, again, what is the whole purpose of the survive the wild? If you survived the wild, then? What will you do, and what can you do, seriously? And this game is real, half.Half of realistic.Again, this game has no date, no seasons, no weather effects, no animals, number based health system, number based energe tystem, number based thirst, hunger system, number based tree's health system, tree regeneration system, auto health regeneration system, health of fire, easy fishing system, etc, etc etc.I'm sorry to say this, and I'm sorry for this harsh post, but you should fix all of these number based systems, If you wouldn't fix it, this game can't be realistic. never. If you are in a real wild, how to know your health by number? and fire has health? number based health? And how to know your energe by number? thirst? hunger? and why all trees regenerates immediately, then fire goes out? and the wild has no seasons? no temperatures? If you want realistic, just make this game realistic, if you want unrealistic, just add the corrdinates system again. But, not half realistic.Yes, this isn't my game, so I will never cry about corrdinates system. Re: Tool for viewing sound files (Thumbnail Wav) Hello everyone (especially Aprone). I was wondering if there was any way this program could be expanded upon? I've had this program for years but I actually never got around to trying it out. If the support of other file extensions could be added, I would be forever grateful. I suppose also being able to choose which directory the program looks in instead of having to copy it everywhere could be useful as well, but I am most definitely not complaining. Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone
Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone There are multiple methods of voice chat that could be used during Swamp gameplay. Rather than overtax Aprone's bandwidth and computer, as well as add more things for him to add to Swamp, I think people can just coordinate themselves via Teamtalk or some other medium. Voice chat would be a very large change to Swamp, and I think I'd rather see that effort expended in other games, such as Castaways 2.Kai URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=223462#p223462 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: Survive the Wild!
Re: Survive the Wild! I've been holding off on commenting on this game for a while, waiting to see what aspects of it would be scrapped, and which would be expanded upon. It is a very interesting project that I hope to see grow into a great game. One of the key features that I expected to be phased out is the way walking is handled. Walking is an automatic response. When you decide to move, you typically don't consciously think about the individual steps associated with movement. if you did, it would be much more difficult to split your attention. For example, it is very possible for the average blind person to simultaneously walk, use a cane, and hold a conversation with someone. The amount of attention being placed on individual steps in this game is a little absurd. The next feature that comes to mind is rotation. This is a very good idea. I am of the opinion that the first person perspective should become the new standard for audio games, seeing as it makes it so much ea sier to immerse yourself in the virtual world. However, you have hit a very obvious snag.At the moment your panning is not quite good enough to support the first person perspective. I think this is why you get so many complaints about the setup. I am a fairly skilled gamer, and even I get very easily disoriented while navigating around the island. The problem is, half the time the son isn't up, so you can't use it as a reference. On top of that, your background wilderness is loud and does not pan. You can orient off of the river and the ocean, but that's about it. If you want to use the son you have to pull out the watch, which is a clunky affair of its own.And the final important issue that should be mentioned is the keyboard layout. The controls for this game are a bit scattered and clunky. You have your various status and scan commands split on either side of the home row, the various arrow key and their mods are a bit unintuitive, and th e inventory system is too clunky for any sort of snap actionHere's my advice. You have a project here with a lot of potential. It could wind up being awesome. But, it isn't there yet. Maybe take a short break on new content, and release a couple updates to polish what you have. Make navigation a little slicker, consolidate your keyboard commands. Maybe take a look at the size of player objects as compared to the size of the map, how fluid combat is, and rescale everything to smooth out some wrinkles. I get the feeling once people have AI chasing them that can move directly to their square and attack from any angle, you'll see a lot of complaints and need to look at these issues. Re: What do people believe when it comes to religion and or spirituality?
Re: What do people believe when it comes to religion and or spirituality? @twardInterestingly enough, science disagrees with you on this very subject. The idea that collectively we agree on matters of morality can be disproven by the very nature of humankind. Observe the human child. He does not need to be taught to lye, to cheat, to misbehave, to do anything that is anything which society considers unfavorable. This is so deeply rooted in our nature that from the very beginning, science has observed twins fighting in the womb, sometimes digesting each other so as to come out on top, and in some of those cases the digested twin may turn into a parasite so as to try and survive, eating the would be survivor from the inside out.Once, I believed that the very existence of religions was necessary for the weak to survive; it was a requirement to maintain order in an otherwise chaotic world. That idea has wholes in it, I know, but that was my belief and I worked with it regularly. Anarchy was the default state o f man and needed to be dealt with, thus the founding of institutions such as Christianity which taught retribution and consequence for certain actions. The problem is that when you believe in nothing and have nothing to believe in you become fully aware of something, your life has no purpose and making one up is as good as living a lye. Something has to be true, or else, your life and mine are worthless. Re: Survive the Wild!
Re: Survive the Wild! Hmm, I think I'd better bring back some point of the game. It's going a little out of the main concept now, as players make it so.First question : What do you expect to have in the wild. If you are in the wild for real, you don't, and won't even have a map. But as the story of this game go, I'm not really sure what's the cause of you surviving the wild.I totally agree with Sam about the coordinate systen. It's not real. Imagine in real life and you're in the wild, how can you check, and how do you know what coordinate that is. Not just the wild, even now too. Think of where you are now and ask yourself for the coordinate. The sun system is what it is suppose to be in the wilderness. You adjust and do stuff by looking and the sun. That's actually how sighted people do it in the wilderness too.Question 2: What's the balance between practical and realistic?I'd say, it's in between, especially whe n we mention something like games. What I don't really like about stw, is that rotation thingy, which always make me confuse of too much rotate, too many keys, and what direction that really is. I know the basics of mapping and stuff, but whenever it comes to rotation, I'm always confused.@post...whatever post before Sam's post, I asume you ment go out the beach. Leogravion: Requesting builders
Leogravion: Requesting builders Hello all,Leogravion, the MUD I'm running, is requesting builders! We only have two at the time, me being the coder - so building is quite lame at the moment. If anyone wishes to help, connect using the following connection information:IP address: 45.55.221.16Port: 5000Don't worry; I'm working on getting a DNS address for it.To get builder status, I'll need to interview you. Connect and create your character and we'll see about your builder status being granted. If I get too many requests, I will advance you to the appropriate builder level when you create, but I'll monitor you for a little while. If you want this system changed, just ask me! You can post your character name and a little info about you here on the forum so I can get to know you if you want. If you want to answer the interview here, send me a PM and answer the following questions:1. Have you been a builder on a MUD/MOO before? If so, what MUD/MOO was it.2. How long were you a builder on that MUD/MOO?3. Please write a sample description of the following:An item (any kind, from the following list: armor, boat, cauldron, clothing, component, container, drinkcontainer (drink container), flask, food, fountain, furniture, gem, herb, instrument, jewelry, key, & nbsp; light, map, money, mortar, npccorpse (NPC Corpse), ore, parchment, pill, portal, potion, poultice, roomkey (room key), scroll, sheath, staff, token, trash, treasure, &nb sp; wand, warpstone, or weapon)A roomA MOB4. If the object adds any modifiers to the user, describe those modifiers. For example: Adds 20 strength. The available modifiers are as follows: strength, quickness, presence, intuition, empathy, constitution, agility, &nb sp; selfdiscipline, memory, reasoning, sex (not recommended), mana, hp, move, ac, &nbs p; hitroll, damroll, and saves. Note that any modifier cannot go above 32,767.5. Have you had any experience with the different editors such as redit (room edit), aedit (area edit), oedit (object edit), or medit (mob edit)? If so, describe these experiences.Thanks. Hope to see you soon! Note that the game is really lame at the moment; I'm not good at writing descriptions, and I'm not good at creating names and such. This is why I'm asking for more builders. I also have set of rules for both builders and immortals. for the list, type 'help builder-rules' and 'help immortal-rules'. Re: Pokémon Crystal Access
Re: Pokémon Crystal Access Lol sounds like your trying to do the directions once you step foot in the cave, but the directions are for the icy paths part so the areas where when you move you go flying to the next wall. I usually counted my first direction as the direction I was traveling once I hit the icy path, so when you first step foot in the cave start walking right until you hit the first icy path then down right down right and your out of the first one. Re: Survive the Wild!
Re: Survive the Wild! I'm not going to start an argument about this because theres no reason. But I will say no no no, coordinates can't come back in this game. you said you agreed with danny and them, then flat out said the fishing system wasn't real and stuff, I agree. It isn't. You could catch a fish that way. But I don't understand what's so hard about the sun system and that. Level's and stores? This is a role playing game, of course it doesn't have level's and stores. I have had something like that planned, for a long time, with levels. Called faim, but havn't done that. Stores? Really? In the wild? I don't think so. This game is called survive, the wild. And it is called that for a reason. If you were in a real wilderness siguation, you'd be surprised. Really surprised. I feel that I havn't made this game near as real as I could have. For example, the tree regen system. Only reason those trees don't come back is because otherw ise the hole forrest would be cut down in no time. They have, to come back. I'll say it again, in the real wilderness, you'd be amazingly surprised how directions can help. At least I wrote a section on the read me about it. But to be honest momo, if you don't like how i'm trying to make this game realistic, there are plenty of other games out there that arn't realistic and that have coordinates, whitch are not possible in this game because there really not realistic and I feel bad for even putting them in in the start. I know this hole thing could have sounded slightly harsh but you just randomly came up and yelled at me randomly. I just wanted to tell you my side of it. People to desire coordinates and stores and levels and complete game things with barily any reality in it, this just isn't your game. I will Never! Add coordinates back. Again, it's my fault for introducing them in this game at the start. This game does have a learning curve and I am trying to improve the readme, and also @momo, you may find the last section of the readme very helpful. it explains the system quite well. Sorry if I sounded a bit harsh in this post but this has come up before so many times it's starting to get frusterating. I will never bring coordinates back. That's what I mainly want you to know. Some of your points are ok, abilities? Well possibly, probs not, that's too unrealistic. Trust me, once I get of my lazy ... lol, there will be animals. I've started on the AI but am still trying to get sounds for them. Re: Survive the Wild!
Re: Survive the Wild! hi sam and everyoneI totally aggree with Danny, Sam, You like real game, but, this game is unplayable. Please, add corrdinates system again, I can't go out the bitch, and what is the whole purpose of survive the wild? This game has money system? level system? No, this game has, only sun system. Then, if you made *verything, what will you do? killing? That is not survive the wild. and this game don't have any missions, abilities, stores, and... seasons. This game has no seasons, like spring, summer, autumn, or winter.and this game has no date, too.The sun system is hard, The tree restore system isn't real, and the regular fishing system isn't real, too.The tree restore system means, if you fire a tree, and that fire goes out, this tree will regenerated. This isn't real. And regular fishing means, when you fishing, you put your fishing poll in to the water, and bring ruler in your other hand, and press t 30 or 35 times. This isn't real, too.And the sun system is really, really bad. Please add an option that allows you to find your location from corrdinates. This game is very hard.Or please add an ability, called consontration. It will allows you to see your corrdinates. Thanks URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=223453#p223453 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Having fun with Apple's Siri
Re: Having fun with Apple's Siri I just checked, and yes, Siri's gender is possible to change here too, I could also set the language to Us English if I desired. However, even aside from my usual liking for male synths, Siri's female voice is the same one used for all those bloody irritating telephone answer machine systems, so whenever I hear it I associate it with a lot of circular "press 1 if you want to speak to someone else" type of choices, which is even more! of a reason for me to prefer Siri as a dude . I will say some synths get English accents very wrong, i can't bare eloquence on Uk English for example, though i like the Siri voice and realspeak daniel who sounds a bit bbc, and of course I've used Orphius natural sounding voice alan for years sinse it is the best contrast between speed of reading and not sounding like a cyberman .It's all pretty much preference though. As I said I like an English synth because reading back what I have written sounds just wrong to me in an American accent, sinse obviously my grammar, diction and choice of words are pretty English, indeed even for England I'm said to have a rather precise manner of speaking.Still, none of it really matters, though I like the fact that there are now choices available about how your gismos speak, sinse there was a time when everything used the American eloquence.
