I remember the rope staying useful even into 10-2 (and even afterward on the bees).Have you tried the iron balls? The bigger ones from stage 4, not the small ones from 1-1. You can throw them while jumping, and can aim them at different heights if you've been putting points into technology.

What specifically are you looking for? If you only want to make music, then something like Quick Windows Sequencer and appropriate sound fonts should work. (You'd need another program to record it as wav/ogg/mp3/etc instead of midi, but the likes of audacity / goldwave / wavepad / soundtap (on 32bit systems) can manage that.) I use noteworthy Composer, but apparently I had super figuring-out-inaccessible-software skills in late 2002 or something, since I seem to be the only blind person who can use it. (Would be nice if I still had said out-figuring abilities.)If you're more interested in the various things one can do on the waveform level, there's probably a faster implementation of something like what BGT uses with more freedom to add various filters and noise generators and so on. I seem to remember there being something for Python, but I couldn't get much more specific than that.

@post 4 completely agreed, thumbs up. I've hopefully got a start on some of that with my switch to python. As for the hole depression ishue, and don't take it the rong way, key is correct. My advice would be to confront the root of your depression first before you take on any game related activities. Game developing can intraduce stress depending on the project. You can turn that stress into fun, but believe me, from someone who's learned it the hard way, depression makes game development 20 times less fun. I'd never classify game development as a releaver of depression, and if your working with a team it can make things all the more stressful. My advice. Before you even consider developing a game, get the depression sorted out. Believe me it'll be much less hard than you having to deal with it while developing.

Ah the Eureka A4, I remember playing space invaders on that thing, although they called it aliens.It was quite creative how they implemented the ships, using musical notes.you'd have to match the correct notes before firing, for example you're at the far left, which use to be represented with the musical note C, and the ship happened to be at F sharp, so you'd have to find F sharp and shoot.There was no panning back then so you had to be creative with your games.Another game that was similar was missile.The music composer was pretty cool as well, although my musical knowledge wasn't good enough to use it.Cursoring to the note, then telling it what type of note, ETC.I was told composing would take up to a few hours.So yeah, things were certainly different back then.I'd love to see if someone could make an emulator for the Eureka A4, or any of these old machines, so the games could be revived.Even re-writing some of those games, the way it was intended to be played would be cool.I'd definitely play Aliens again.Yeah I know there are space invader type games out there, but they're not like Aliens.Aliens didn't have an ending, you'd play until you got killed.Of course, the game would just keep getting faster.

@stirlock, I'm running Windows 7.I go to the system tray and right click on speakers, then choose recording devices.Then select Microphone and tab to the properties button and press it.Then I tab to the tab control, and change it to the listen tab.Then I check the Listen to this device check box and hit OK.In Audacity I set my input device to be:Input Device Stereo Mix (Realtek High DefiniThen I record.I've heard that some computers don't have the option to listen to the microphone, depending on your sound card.But my sound card is not exactly fancy or anything.Hope this helps.

The non unicode text in the menus is what I get when I don't start the game with AppLocale.Are you definitely starting it with AppLocale?And definintely choosing the very bottom language in the list when starting it with AppLocale?

Try it with these turned off:3. say tools.4. clip reader.Or try it with the JGT auto translate clipboard mode turned off.I think the problem is that multiple tools are watching the clipboard and making NVDA speak when new text appears.

I'm really liking the cultist so far. I am in the front area, and I really like the confundus skill. Especially since I have the gast as a pet…  can't wait to get to level 21 and unlock the next skill. However, I like the confuse skill, however I hate it when others do it to me and I am confused. Lol.  However, this skill is pretty useful when you are fighting foes that have the crush skill. If you managed to get one confused, and it attacks itself with crush, you're  much closer to  defeating  him.

You may want to read some books on the subject of game design, and if you are up to it, read some on game programming also. Designing a game isn't just about writing the user manual; you have to implement the core mechanics so that they are balanced and offer a fun play experience. Audio games lack a lot of the performance and efficiency trim that mainstream games have just because the developers are lazy. I mean there are a lot of things like double buffers, frame clocks, better i/o handling and other things that can make the game seem to run smoother but are a bit more difficult to code. In fact I have
 n't coded a frame clock into my own game, out of sheer laziness, and I've been called out on it and probably should do so.Also you mention that you have a fair amount of depression. In my opinion, and please take this with a grain of salt, depression makes it hard to work on games effectively because you lose the meaning of fun. I have experienced some minor depression myself, and it never occurred to me to try to develop games to get over it, but I know it was difficult to have fun. If games are about having fun, then developing games is about making fun, and if one can't have fun, it seems inconceivable that one can make fun, at least without the right stimuli. I don't think making games is a good way to stifle the depression because eventually you'll submerge yourself so much into it and burn out; you have to confront it at its rots and figure it out.

@Aaron, not that I know of, however I believe I've worked out what the problem is at least with that specific folder (though some help with window eyes might be useful), her sister tried to import it into itunes with her windows 10 machine,and didn't really know what she was doing, so I believe either the process was not complete, or itunes grabbed the folder and now made it so that itunes alone can access it. Luckily the stuff is still on her desktop so she can copy it off onto another folder, though as I said some assistance with window eyes would be good if you know (see the other folder).

My mistake, it does work when started with AppLocale.I just wasn't holding the enter key long enough.I've heard I can change the time you have to hold it for in gameÝ’è.ini.I'll have to look into that and write up instructions.

Well, as far as sounds, there's the ns studios sound library which, yes, is still on the major discount, get it for $10 instead of the usual $50. Plus, Soni's 1001 sound effects is $10 as well, so you can also give that a go. I'd be happy to offer to be your sound guy, because I already have ns studios sound library, and I had already planned on buying 1001 sfx and adding that to my collection, so with me being your sound guy I could buy it for use in this game.

the only problem with most mml compilers, is that they are made by japanese people. That poses a problem for us americans who don't know japanese and still want to use the program. While japanese were using mml, westerns such as europe and the US were using trackers.

BGT's soundtrack was using a varient of mml. MML is a very popular music coding language, known as music macro anguage, originally appearing on computers such as the sharp x68000 and the NECPC98, in a basic statement called play. It has been expanded greatly, now mainly used for making video game music such as for the NES, the Genesis, the MSX, and more. There is also one program that will allow you to use mml to code midi! It really depends on what you want to do. If you want things that sound something like bgt, but can do way more, such as the NES, then you would want to go with ppmck. If you wanted things like the genesis and the gameboy and things like that, you would want XPMCK. If you want to drop video game consoles entirely, your only option would be mml2mid, which means you have to have a good midi instrument to play the midi with. MML is currently the only way for you to program music. YOu could make most of these formats and things such as mod files with trackers,
  but since when do blindies get to use trackers, huh? I am heavily versed in mml myself. MML consists of some basic things. Track headers, macros, and notation. BGT pretty much stripped it down to notation, but you can do so much more with mml compilers such as ppmck and xpmck.

So I've been thinking, and with some motivation from SLJ, I decided to ask.I want to develop a game, something that could be good. Only problem is, I have absolutely no resources. I have no creativity, and I have no sound effects. I don't just want to make another beat'em'up side scroller, because even I'm getting tired of those. But I can't write any good story, and I absolutely hate fantasy. I am calling out for help. I need some sort of idea. I don't just want somebody to say, make an rpg. I want the type of game, as well as help to help me make it. I am very low within myself, and so I need outside help to get this done. ote that currently this would be in bgt. Now don't snap at me just because this is in bgt, because paladin was in bgt, psycho strike was in bgt, heck, somebody could code bk3 in bgt if they really wanted to.I just want help to develop a decent game. I want to be respected in this hard cold community, I want t
 o have some sort of level other than that guy who helped develop the worst and most drama filled game ever. I also don't want to be hated because of my heavily invasive depression. I will have trouble developing this. I'll need motivation. I would love a link to some JAWS scripts or some suggestions for this.They're having us use TN3270+ at work. It's another one of these Putty-like clients. We're logging into a mainframe. But there's also some tabbing around to move the curser to different points to input text in order to change screens.I don't know if that command line client interface would even work. Can you still access this mainframe with a different client? No idea.I'm running Jaws 16 on Windows 7. As it stands, I can mostly read the output buffer with the Jaws PC cursor. But I'm getting no input at all.

I've just released a new version of JGT.It adds an auto translate clipboard feature and support for Brave of Cloudia, Cave of Marvels, and Morokuma's text games, as well as others.The new games it supports still require the Japanese keyboard and AppLocale (or possibly Locale Emulator for Windows 10).I've added step by step instructions to the user manual for getting setup with the Japanese keyboard and AppLocale.The user manual also contains tips for getting the best experience when playing the text games.I recommend downloading the new version of the addon and rereading the user manual since it has had heavy updates.Here is the link to the manual.It took a lot of work to get this new version ready.I hope everyone enjoys it.

REquesting Window eyes assistance

Hi everyone As most people wil know, I've just movd in with my lady. She's bought with her a new desktop she got in England recently running windows 7, which has window eyes installed. The problem is that this is proving a bit of a pest to use, both because my lady is used to using window eyes in German, and because she's not certain of a few speak keys, eg, when using alt enter to look at the properties of a file or folder, how to read the hole property sheet (including size information), rather than just tab through the boxes. I found the window eyes basic manual, but either her computer is slightly wonky or window eyes doesn't work properly as the manual said, sinse I tried keys such as ctrl shift s and insert s and they didn't workas described to read status bar, while ctrl shift r didn't seem to be a continuous document read (I found that numberpad minus said w e curser or mouse curser, but I couldn't move this around or 
 do anything with it like the dolphin curser). If anyone could give a few basic tips to using window eyes on windows 7, I'd appreciate knowing, eg, what the keys are for readin different screen elements, and how the w e curser works, and what the heck this  browse mode thing is. My lady has used the internet and done some file transfer type of stuff, but I think knowing a little about reading the actual screen contents that isn't directly announced might be handy. @Aprone, as it happens she isn't, indeed she has no sight at all, though that's pretty low down in terms of list of mutual interests. Actually at the moment we've just setup her computer, first learnt it doesn't have a wireless networking capability (so need some more cables), and right now are running into problems sinse unfortunate shely she has windows 7, and for some reason can't access several of her own folders and is being given messages such as "access is denied run through security tab" which I don't really know about, and can't read fully sinse she uses window eyes but isn't sure where the Window eyes screen review curser is to read windows. Btw, if anyone knows how to get the security crap off windows 7 and access folders just to copy onto external devices (and one folder which her sister seems to have right protected), I'd very much appreciate knowing. moral of the story xp is best, but it'
 s a shame that my fiance can't access her stuff.

HiCan anyone assist with this?I'm quite a nube when it coms to configuring router/firewalls to play games and need help with soundrts.Whenever I try to play the game with someone who is not in the same location as me, I gettt he error message saying the server is probably behind a router or firewall.How exactly do I allow the port 2500 through the firewall and what do I need to do on the router so that Ican host games?I am in South Africa and my IP is created by my ISP, think my problem is more the router than the firewall.If anyone can help with this I would be eternally grateful.

Ah, thanks for letting me know.  If that is the case,  the blind man's dungeon must be the puzzle game I found, quite ironic that a game called "blind man's" anything is both inaccessible and not nice i9in premise  given that in the one I looked at  the player needed to graphically move walls around for a blind character who couldn't otherwise walk streight .I'll see if there is a podcast on  karateka.

Hi Aaron. I don't know about the dispensor thing, but as I said consider a smaller kettle if you want to start doing your own hot drinks. With butter what I generally do is stick some onto the end of my knife then wipe the underside of my knife on the side of the box, then stick in the middle of the bread or toast and turn. Then again I don't use butter all that much, even when I do sandwiches I tend to just stick on the filling (especially if I'm toasting them), indeed my lady has something to butter.I do always use a spoon for honey. Toasted sandwiches are actually a nice thing and a good meal, if you've got a toaster with a wide grill you can get these small toasted sandwich maker bags where you make the sandwich, stuff it in the bag, put the bag in the toaster and then just pull it out when done, very nice with stuff like your favourite sauce etc. [[wow]] this conversation is making me hungry .

Karateka isn't the same as blind man's dungeon. Karateka's more like a mainstream game where you swipe to move, and you then use musical queues to hit the opponent and know when to block. It's good but I don't think it's database worthy because I'm unsure if there's a menu with achievements and such or not. I also don't know if it works on later versions of iOS as I deleted it quite some time ago. I did, however, enjoy playing through the game a few times because it was really cinematic in nature, but you'd be better off getting the pc version as it's got stereo sound and stuff.

Hi. Is karateka the same as blind man's dungeon? I saw this topic and wondered what it was about sinse I do recall seeing a game on the ios ap store called blind man's dungeon or similar, but it was a graphical puzzle game where your main character only walked in streight lines and you needed to move blocks of walls to get them to go in the right direction,  both inaccessible and also a little patronizing.

All right then. I guess it's time to find some optical disks. I can't help but think this is a big giant waste of time. How do I get the Bootcamp drivers? It says to insert my OS X installation disk. I just want to have these around whenever I find disks. Can I extract the drivers from my Snow Leopard dmg? It's got 10.6 initial on it.

hi,The start menu is similar to the start menu found in win7. The tiles are  still there but  they are in a place where they can be easily ignored. Like in windows 7 you can press up arrow from the search box to get to all programs.

We've got some sort of hot water filter/dispensor thing, I forgot the name of it though.I also learned an awesome tip for doing butter on a Sandwich for those who might struggle a bit with getting the butter onto a knife.Use a spoon and knife combo and scoop the butter onto the spoon, then drop it onto the bread and then put the spoon down, get the knife and start spreadding. This tip has literally done wonders for me and without it I don't think I'd be able to currently do a sandwich.
