Re: An accessible, browser-based horse racing manager MMO?
Re: An accessible, browser-based horse racing manager MMO? Hi,Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but I just wanted to comment that I got curious and tried the boxing game you mentioned, and it's pretty freaking cool. I love the types of games where you have to design the best combination of stats and effects and throw them at someone else's build. It takes all the random number generation and pointless grinding out of games and focuses on pure strategy. The one fight per week thing is a tad annoying because once I get going on something I don't want to stop for a while, but I think the ability to design sparring partners exactly how I want and use my own fight plans with them for testing purposes gives me about as good a chance as I could hope for to improve my strategy. If any mods are reading this, I really think this game deserves a db entry. The simulation is really quite one of a kind, and the accessibility is top notch with minimal graphics and entertaining textual commentary. Re: my dream, your nightmare
Re: my dream, your nightmare One reason I'd like to see vacus, droidic etc ships hanging around when your doing your normal activities, provided of course combat could be made a little more possible to survive and a little more tactical. As a great example of this, look at smugglers 5. If you play a trader and head into a nsystem your faction has a war with, or if you run into a pirate, you will be in a turn based battle, and you will need to use your shields and flee pretty sharpish, indeed lots of the traders battle abilities are more about reducing random encounters and getting out of battles intact. Re: announcing the release of tts blade battle
Re: announcing the release of tts blade battle @braille0109, what I have done is create a folder on my hd called audiogames, and another called testing area and add them both as exceptions. i prefer to keep the downloads folder free since then I'm more likely to be notified if I download anything dodgy. Once I stuck tts blade battle in my testing area folder there were no problems at all.As to the game itself, great job on getting a finished project out the door and setup, I really like the sounds and the taunt creator is fairly amusing. The only problem I have with the game so far, is it is a little easy and lacking in variety. I run in, wail away with my sword, perhaps taking one or two hits in the process. After that the enemies are so slow I can effectively just keep out of their way until my health regenerates (especially once I have the teleport), heck most enemies don't do more than one or two hits thanks to my fast finger on the spacebar. I realize this is a first project which is fair enough, but you probably should consider what you could do to vary the gameplay somewhat. There are more than enough examples of very well put together audio side scrollers these days to give a good idea what works and what does not and how to create variety in enemies, attackss obstacles etc in order to create a game that is addictive to play.I'll look forward to seeing where this goes in the future, and congratulations again on getting a working game completed and out the door. Re: Mainstream Release Announcement: Way Of The Passive Fist Disclaimer - I'm not blindIt may be possible to beat the boss, but difficult, and lots of random chance involved. As you'll have gathered by that point, for most of the game you can just stand still and enemies will take it in turns to stand next to you to fight. The boss is designed to mix things up a bit by him continually moving, and occasionally throwing tires at you, which can't be blocked or dodged, you have to move/dash out of the way of them. There are a number of continually respawning minions on the screen. You need to use them to get your combo bar up, then one you have a combo of five hit the boss with your freshly charged super move.Fighting the minions is straightforward enough, there the basic type from the start of the game. Standing by the edge of the screen can help, to prevent being attacked from both sides.Dodging the tires may be possible, by dashing up or down with the A button. The really difficult bit is managing to hit the boss with your super punch. He is continually moving, so without stereo it is pure chance really whether you'll manage to hit him with it.So it may take a long time of many missed hits.In the plus side he isn't very strong, only takes I think three super moves to kill him. Re: You can now use your preferred screen reader (NVDA, JAWS) on Linux.
Re: You can now use your preferred screen reader (NVDA, JAWS) on Linux. I have to say, I am aalso on the Cygwin bandwagon. WSL is a nice addition to newer versions of Windows, but Cygwin has been around much longer to fill the desire of running Unix and Unix-style applications on a Microsoft environment. Even MSYS can do quite a lot, even though it's main purpose is to build WIN32 apps in a MinGW environment. Also, with either one of these (cygwin or mingw/msys), if you're a C/C++ programmer, you can distribute applications with ease, without having to worry about the complexities of the Visual Studio IDE. Well, maybe that last statement is just an opinion. lolBTW, you don't have to mess around with Cygwin's setup GUI installer. The setup also has command line parameters you can pass to it:Example:setup_x86.exe -P openssh -M-P for package, and -M for quiet mode. Re: Lambda Documentation
Re: Lambda Documentation I want to say implementing doors is a relatively simple process, but that depends on your level of MOO coding knowledge, and it'll all depend on what sort of setup you have for exits, if you've modified matching, etc. If you're keeping the exit object, adding an opened property to them and modifying verbs to check for it might be the way to go. You'd also want a verb somewhere to open and close doors, messages for them being opened and closed, etc. URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=354902#p354902 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: You can now use your preferred screen reader (NVDA, JAWS) on Linux.
Re: You can now use your preferred screen reader (NVDA, JAWS) on Linux. Cygwin is a pile. WSL is probably a pile. Both are still 25 times better than trying to run a Windows port of whatever Linux application locally. Ask anyone who's ever tried to set up a MUD/MOO server. If you can't afford a license for VMware, or don't have the resources to run it, it's still the better option. Me personally, I prefer a $20 VPS. but I'm not above installing something like this for a local dev environment, because let's be real here. Windows to Linux compatibility is a bitch. Re: 6 Swords - Fantasy Adventure game for Amazon Echo thanks for the info, also had an encounter I thought would be easy but turned out not to be. Was walking off the paths and came across 20 giant wasps. All my guys were level 6 at the time but they all ganged up on one of my characters and on top of that those little nasties are surpisingly hard to hit and surprisingly durable. They actually did knock her out. I don't know how monsters choose to tattack people, I think she's got slightly worse equipment than the others so that might be involved in why she seems to be a frequent target. Also, in the past few weeks, haven't seen any castle deeds or door permits dropping from monsters. Is that over? I have a ton of those things but I don't think I ever got an entryway thing. So since they weigh nothing, was wondering if I should still be holding onto them or whether they have been removed from the game and I should just sell them. Re: Mainstream Release Announcement: Way Of The Passive Fist
Re: Mainstream Release Announcement: Way Of The Passive Fist Hi,I am very happy to show support to this dev though, because unlike, say, Thumper, this game is early in it's lifespan so I think there's hope that we can see this thing made even more playable, and that is what makes it so exciting. Add to that, the devs really, really want to listen to feedback, to the point where at some point during development of the initial version, they hired someone as an accessibility consultant, they came up with the idea of a dynamic difficulty system to help with accessibility, and they now wish they'd known about blind gamers much earlier in the development cycle. Another accessibility-related thing is the control settings, even though I won't be changing them myself, I love the concept of this: in this game, literally anything can be mapped to any button. Now, in a game like, say, Mortal Kombat or Injustice, you can't map movement, only the attack buttons. IN this game, for people that need it, they could map the left analog stick to movement, d-pad to player attacks, and left trigger as a super, and boom, someone who is left handed can play the whole game.I see potential for this to become one of the most accessible games, ever, and that's not jsut blindness here, that's everything. Re: UFC3 Guide In Progress - Need Design Feedback @Orin - basically the main menu layout is a grid, where some things might vertically take up more than one grid space. The numbered list is the number of horizontal slices, the | was to denote vertical slices inside a horizontal slice. Does that make sense? I'm totally open to suggestions. Re: Monthly chat March 2018
Re: Monthly chat March 2018 Earlier this morning, I gave up and headed into the emergency room. Considering how bad this flu season has been and how many people have died from it and suspecting that I had it, I wasn't willing to take any more chances. Well, the good news is I don't have the flu, the bad news is that I have acute bronchitis, which, though not lethal, can be just as bad as the flu with all the symptoms you suffer. They prescribed an antibiotic which should be able to knock it out in three to five days. After what this has been like the past four days, that'll feel like a slice of heaven! A Hero's Call, a request? Hi,Before I get started I wanted to start by saying that I in no way intend for this request to come off as inappropriate. I fully understand if this is not something you guy's want to talk about, but if at all possible I would be greatly appreciative of your time in answering three questions.1. What was your choice of ECMA Script engine?2. Are the scripts compiled into byte code before being encrypted, or are they just encrypted minified source or something?3. Are the save files just JSON.stringify()'d JS objects which are then encrypted and stored as is?To be clear, I'm in no way interested in decryption information, sound files, source code or anything else that would compromise your work. I'm just cureous about the script engine because I want to develop a similar game engine myself, but found that a lot of the ECMA script engines out there either don't compile to byte code or have a fair amount of license restrictions. If you'd be willing to answer any of this, I would much appreciate it, but once again I do understand if this makes you uncomfortable.Thanks. Re: New EA Accessibility Forums and Bug Reporting There may be a chance if you file bugs on exactly what you are asking for :-) Ditto on any other title. Don't worry if something is possible or not, although if you do have suggested solutions there is a place for that in the bug report.Basically, if you wish for something, please file. If you want something for multiple games, please file on each. If you want totally different things for one title, try to break it down into separate filed requests on each - i.e football passing issues in madden are different than a request for better menu navigation. If you've emailed or tweeted me requests in the past, it doesn't hurt to file anyway, so there's a permanent record that follows the team around. I'm sure some feedback has been lost over time, as people move between teams - the forum prevents that from happening.I've been working on getting this forum up for ages - email & twitter were never intended to be long-term feedback mechanisms, it just took way longer than expected to get a more permanent solution up and running.- Karen Stevens URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=354871#p354871 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: You can now use your preferred screen reader (NVDA, JAWS) on Linux. WSL means you can use SSH and SFTP without need of another client. It also means you can interact with the windows filesystem and use git to clone things, and then use the windows side to build / whatever. It's all that in one environment rather than needing to get PUtty, gitbash and shit like that. It also lets you manage files in a way you can't easily do on windows. If you have a bunch of wave files and you want them in ogg or something, you can use SOX to do it, then when you're done rm *.wav to get rid of the wave files in one go and save space. Have fun going through and picking out all the wav files with windows explorer. Re: You can now use your preferred screen reader (NVDA, JAWS) on Linux.
Re: You can now use your preferred screen reader (NVDA, JAWS) on Linux. Hmmm.Since I started university I got interested in linux and after a while I doodled round with a distro, I think it was eventually arch. However the unit I was working on well its old and its battery went flat, it was an old xp unit and when I returned to it to continue after a few weeks it just didn't work anymore so I reformatted and put xp back on it.At the time I was fiddling round I was really sick and unable to do much of anything bar type, I don't really have that sort of time as such to really handle it.I did fiddle with wsl a bit but yeah the package manager if you update it enough does well screw it up totally and eventually I was able to get the commands to completely clear its packages.Cygwin, I tried ages ago, but I really didn't care about its setup, if there was a way to install all its modules or bits in some sort of downloadable innosetup script or something maybe but to be honest I never got the interface to work right at all.My next plan was to retire this old 5 year old toshiba and once I get a newer hp load sonnar, yeah I know its the cheap way out but unlike other distros based on arch it can be updated for ever in a day without an image on the other people have been going on about ubuntu mate which uses above all things the old gnome 2 environment though it may be on its last legs which I was happy using back in my old university days.On the other hand I am unsure still on this reguard my other idea was to vm it and eventually buy a box where I could happily set it up log in etc and it would just work.Ofcause my main put off is that linux readers, ie orca are not as accessible as windows screen readers like nvda.In your opinion is it worth if at all possible trying native linux again if I have a system spair, actually I have no doubt its the best, but is it worth running vmware or something on say a laptop or system with hardware vertualisation I know without it its complete rubbish or is cygwin fine for what I want and is it worth using it. Interesting thing about sound in a movie
Interesting thing about sound in a movie Hi,This is a very interesting thing, that I’ve noticed about sound on dvd and bluray movies. The sound on a dvd is about a half tune higher, and a bit faster than the sound on a blu-ray. And it’s not just on a single movie. It’s almost all the movies I’ve hear trough the years. The funny thing is, that dvd’s came first, but blu-ray sound is the original sound. If you for example buy a soundtrack, on cd, from a movie, the music will sound the same way as on the blu-ray.Here is an example: two youtube-videos with the same song from a movie. The first one from a dvd, and the second one from a blu-ray.DVD:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR2qfTWrX3wBlu-ray:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIYL-PQa010What do you others think about all that, and does someone know, why it is like that?Best regards:Aksel Christoffersen URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=354854#p354854 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: using spss with screen readers?
Re: using spss with screen readers? Enes, the problem with that is that NVAccess is correct in this matter. It's not always the developers of NVDA who are at fault. That's like saying that it's NVAccess' fault for me not being able to use GTK applications, when it's clearly neither NVAccess' or Gnomes' fault, since GTK isn't designed to run on Windows anyway. I wish it was possible but it's not. If the developers are unwilling to provide a fix, or are unable to provide a fix, then theirs nothing you can do. Making a program accessible is usually not a one-sited issue where the developer(s) of the screen reader just make it happen; it's usually a two-sited issue where the developer(s) of the screen reader and the developer(s) of the app work together to expose, and take advantage of, the accessibility APIs provided by the operating system and by 3rd parties. There are, of course, those rare circumstances where the developer(s) of the app (or of the apps' GUI toolkit) expose accessibility aPIs, but the screen reader does not recognize those APIs, or does recognize them but is unable to interact with them; in those circumstances, it then becomes an issue between NVAccess and NVDA, or whatever screen reader your using. However, since SPSS is a Java package, it's not NVAccess' fault for not making the app accessible, nor is it IBM's fault; rather, its either your fault, for not following the appropriate procedures for enabling both the 32- and 64-bit JABs, or it's Oracles fault for breaking the JAB. I suspect, however, that the fault lies with you, and neither NVAccess, IBM, or Oracle, for failing to follow appropriate instructions and procedures for enabling the Java Access Bridge. I have written them below for a quick reference; try these, and I hope they work for you.Download the 32-and 64-bit JREs at either http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/ … 48532.html (version 9) or http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/ … 33155.html (version 8). Alternatively, install the full 32-and 64-bit JDKs at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/ … 48520.html (version 9) or http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/ … 33151.html (version 8).If installing the JREs, simply install them as normal. If installing the JDKs, ensure that a public JRE for both are installed. After the installation of both versions, open command prompt and navigate to the directories for both, and type 'jabswitch /enable', without the apostrophes. Once done, restart your screen reader and all should work fine. If not, continue to the next steps. If SPSS is not immediately accessible, copy all the files listed for both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of either or both the JREs and JDKs at https://docs.oracle.com/javase/accessbr … /setup.htm to their appropriate directories.HTH.Edit: I just realized that the JDK version 9 is only provided in 64-bit. If SPSS is not immediately accessible, copy all the files listed for both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of either or both the JREs and JDKs at https://docs.oracle.com/javase/accessbr … /setup.htm to their appropriate directories.HTH. Re: dectalk getting the mame treatment?
Re: dectalk getting the mame treatment? From reading the driver documentation on GitHub, which you can find at https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/ma … ectalk.cpp if one is interested, it seems that this driver was around for a long time. From what I could tell, I'm guessing the machine wasn't well emulated, and it was probably within MESS before it merged with MAME a few years later (don't know when as I haven't been keeping up with MAME as of recently).I have tested it, and from what I could gather, the sample rate of the sound emulation is a bit too high, no doubt because MAME is running at either 44100 or 48000 kHz.Also worth noting is that the machine takes over your entire keyboard, meaning that the Escape key won't work either. The only way I've found to exit it is to end MAME through Task Manager. Another thing worth noting is that you can't copy full songs into it. As far as I am aware, the machine will only accept a limited amount of entered characters at a time. Of course, you can't copy paste stuff into it, obviously. Re: You can now use your preferred screen reader (NVDA, JAWS) on Linux.
Re: You can now use your preferred screen reader (NVDA, JAWS) on Linux. @5, not really. Cygwin is a port of most Linux applications (really, nearly all of the super major ones) to windows. For example, with Cygwin you can run an X Windows Environment, compile programs, and use other apps like PHP and Ruby (as well as some other apps that aren't natively compiled for windows normally). WSL is a totally different environment to Cygwin. It's more of a compatibility/emulation layer on top of Windows that tries to emulate Linux as best it can, like Wine tries to emulate Windows as best it can.t WSL, unlike Cygwin, cannot run GUI applications, full DEs, etc., and its extremely easy to break (just update it with the package manager and it goes to shit). I really don't see the advantage to WSL, other than Microsoft, once again, reinventing the wheel and trying to make something that was already made; in other words, they're trying to make a clone of Cygwin. While I like the idea, Linux is simply not designed to run in or on windows, just like Windows is not designed to run in or on Linux. The two systems are as incomparable as apples and oranges, really. They use totally different executable formats, have completely different applications and kernels, one is open source and the other is not, one is more popular than the other... you get my point. I'll go for cygwin any day over WSL; while Cygwin uses shared memory and can run into problems when it runs into stack/heap allocation issues, that problem is easy to fix (just reboot). On the other hand, WSL breaking is... not so easy to fix. Could Someone Sell Me a Battery For an Old Victor Reader Stream
Could Someone Sell Me a Battery For an Old Victor Reader Stream Hello...So, I recently had a birthday, and my Mom decided to buy me a VR Stream. She thought she was getting a good deal since it was up on EBay for $100, but it turns out the stream had a couple problems. One, it's the original model. Two, the battery is out of cycles and can't hold a charge. If someone could sell me a battery, I'd be willing to pay whatever you had in mind. I don't mean to come across to people begging, but I'd like to avoid getting a new stream altogether because we already spent $100 on it. It also came with the Victor Reader Classic which can't hold a charge either, and a portable CD player which doesn't work at all. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out. Re: You can now use your preferred screen reader (NVDA, JAWS) on Linux. Isn't Cygwin Linux-flavored Windows? Re: Christianity or Islam hi,Came here to discuss the terrorists daesh, which absolutely have nothing to do with islam. Paul, you claim they are muslim because they claim to be so. That is utterly false, you don't become something by claiming to be one. You become something by embodying it's ideals. Daesh are are a band of murderers, and kafirs in islam, is it is stated in the Quran that,[4:93] And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his punishment is hell; he shall abide in it, and Allah will send His wrath on him and curse him and prepare for him a painful chastisement.[5:32] For this reason did We prescribe to the children of Israel that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men; and whoever keeps it alive, it is as though he kept alive all men; and certainly Our messengers came to them with clear arguments, but even after that many of them certainly act extravagantly in the land.
