So you say that this game is playable? When we get L3 (the left stick) we can know where to go? It is very interesting.I know there are a playable demo, I will test that.

Re: Trimps

What a freaking awesome gem of a dev!Not only did he download a screen reader and test the game for him self, but he also took the time to read the documentation and get good with it (faster than allot of blind people might I add) to the point that he understood exactly what could help accessibility wise in the context of all those commands most intermediate level screen reader users know. That is, extremely rare. Yes, we've had a few devs take the time to try a screen reader, and it's always awesome, and plenty have put in the hard work to help make their game's better for this small community, which is always appreciated, but I don't know of any other sighted developer who picked up the more complex parts so quickly, or at all for that matter.I also very much appreciate how your giving progress updates, and have an ongoing commitment and milestones for accessibility greensatellite, you have good project management skills and I can tell how much you care. You stand out as a shining example of what all audio game devs, sighted or blind, should strive to be sir, and I say that with no exaggeration what so ever.I would also just like to mention how much I appreciate Dark, Origine, and Dragonlee for giving such consistent and great feedback, I've been reading through this thread and giving thumbs up left and right.

2019-03-09 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Site and forum feedback : Origine via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Why is new releases filled with huge game discussion topics?

The problem I see is with posts in new releases with technical issues. I've seen topics with no download link in post 1, then link gets broken, then people cannot find or raccess the download link on the page and so on. It would be kind of awkward to go ask in general discussion to come back and see the answer in new releases and even if the message is copied, the poster would have to go look at the other topic automatically generated when he created a topic in new releases to come back and answer in new releases, still kind of awkward. The problem here if I'm not mistaken is that people want to have a fast way to check for new releases. There could be a sticky post in new releases that nobody could write to and only a bot/script/extension could post the pos 1 of every new topic in new releases. This would kind of be a digest of all new releases and if you see a new post in there, means there was a new topic and if you want to quickly look at what games you could play, just look at the last page of that sticky and browse different latest games which are all a copy of post 1 of their topic and with a link to go to the topic for more information. The only problem would be with game updates, however, people could just modify their post 1 and it would get updated in the sticky. This would also be great, because it's painful to hunt down a topic to find the latest version where they can just update their post 1.The most important aspect of this to me is that it needs to be really simple for developers to post new releases. We measure a user experience with the metric of wtf/minute. It means it must be intuitive, no special rules or things you wouldn't expect, don't forget we have external developers just coming here and dropping a new game they made. They must not have to get through a learning curve of I create a topic there, then monitor a different topic and come back to that one to answer, or know that ok, I post this new release, then my topic will get moved to general game discussion and so on.I like the way New Releases is now, because I discovered the "New" link up top in the forums page and it lists all topics with new posts. I do understand though that some topics in new releases went way beyond new releases and became general game discussions, perhaps because the topic didn't exist in general game discussions to begin with.

I'm still banned for suggesting that the code might be sold to Charlie or Ivan on a bad day for Mason. Not sending eloq crashes, not speed hacking, not persistent harassment of one or more players, not spamming chat, not engaging in any other disruptive behavior... not intentionally doing things to lag the server... just saying something that pissed Mason off after I said something that pissed him off on Twitter. I mean unless... dying 10 times on the maze of hell or whatever that shit is called is an offense, because I did do that. The problem is not always NS. People often say you can run your game how you want - and yeah, that is true. However, setting in place certain moral standards only that they might be circumvented by the top dogs is just that, a dictatorship. If it's not, you will not ban players for offending you, because someone like say Braille0109 couldn't ban me if I decided to go on and tell him his map was crap, horribly designed, and that he should leave the damn basement and go do something more productive. Of course I'd never do that, that was just an example, since of course he couldn't ban me for that because he's just a player.

I do navigate with H, but it's not that it bounces while I do that, actually it goes pretty well, it's just that the "end of log" title doesn't seem to exist for jaws. I can only see that heading with NVDA. What seems to bounce my focus is the log updating itself, though I admit it's kind of weird.

In practical terms this means a technician takes a hockey stick and harrasses the poor thing as it tries to open the door, pushing the door closed on it, and pulling it back forcefully causing it to stagger. Re: Lightweight OpenAL Python Wrapper

You could do it that way yes, though storing the positional data in the sounds may be less efficient than storing it in the relevant class your trying to represent, like an NPC, player, or map class, since they would be the ones updating positional data for the game state. So you could have a sound handler with an active and idle list of players, and a queue of objects that want to play a sound. When an object wants to play a sound it registers itself in the queue, so if a player is released into the idle list, it takes the next object class in the queue and assigns a player to it, when you update those classes it loads the sound into the player and plays it, then releases it when done nack into the idle list for the next object in the queue.I sort of did something similar in AudioRTS, where there was a set number of idle and active players that would dynamically allocate a player for a unit on the screen, then deallocate it back to the idle pool when off the screen or out of range.

2019-03-09 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Chris via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Getting started with streaming, what's the best way to go about it?

Here's how My setup works. I have a Behringer XENYX302 which connects to my computer via USB. I've got the Shure SM-48 microphone connected via XLR. The mixer has a couple of line in ports for connecting external devices, and two audio out jacks. The RCA out is for connecting it to a speaker or other device, and there's a 3.5mm headphone out jack. There's also a 3.5mm audio in jack, but that's in mono so only use that with a microphone. I learned that the hard way. There's also a button that specifies whether you want the audio from your computer to go through the mixer or not. The mixer appears as both an input and output device, so you can mixalmost anything you want. I think it's better than using VB Cable or Virtual Audio Cable. It's not quite as powerful as LoopBack, but that's sadly a macOS exclusive application. Both the mixer and microphone only cost $50. I also had to purchase an XLR cable for $6 or so and a stand for the Shure for about $14, so the total price for equipment is around $120 which isn't bad at all. If you want the ability to record external devices, throw in the price of one or two RCA to 3.5mm cables. Still, that's a decent setup for well under $200. I think that's pretty cool! It means there's no excuse for all these YouTubers who make horrible sounding videos using crappy laptop or cell phone microphones that echo and pick up everything. As for servers, that depends on what you want to use. I pay $5 a month for a Linux VPS from Linode. This VPS runs all my game servers, an Icecast server for streaming, a Team Talk server, and anything else I think of in the future. I like Icecast because it uses far less bandwidth than a YouTube stream. I have major problems with streams dropping when I tried YouTube. I could use Ethernet, but running a Cat6 cable to my bedroom from the living room seems like a major pain in the ass.If you want people to join your streams using a chat app, I'd personally recommend using Team Talk or something else that doesn't require you to give out your personal contact info. Of course, you're free to give out your info, but if there are certain people you'd rather not have such info, using Team Talk, Twitter, Ding, etc would work well. The only problem I've run into is that there's no way to share the audio from your computer without the other people being forced to listen to both your computer and themselves. That's just how the mixer I have works, and I haven't found a way around that yet.Whether you want to do this is completely up to you. I personally thought the stream I ran last night was a lot of fun. I'm not sure if you were listening to it, but it was still a lot of fun regardless of how many people were tuned into it. If you can convince sighted people to listen, even better. I always like to tell people to pretend you're listening to an audio drama or old time radio show. People who have an open mind might actually enjoy the experience. None of my videos on YouTube have meaningful graphics, and I don't care.I hope that helps. If you need any more help or want me to go through the specific processes I use, feel free to post here or send me a forum email.

Oh, I think I see the problem. The headings aren't actually activatable. They just list the categories you have on that screen. So when it says hero heading, all of the things to do with characters are under that category. So if you actually want to see just your inventory of equipment, you can either tap the upper right hand corner or go to something like the upgrade equipment icon under the equipment heading.

It means there's no excuse for all these awful YouTUbers who make horrible sounding videos using crappy laptop or cell phone microphones that echo and pick up everything. That's just how the mixer I have works.Whether you want to do this is completely up to you.

Re: An announcement about world of the dead

Hello folks. So reviving this topic because I didn't want to start another one when this one already exists.Updates.So the other developers haven't been working with me lately due to my dropbox breaking in an interesting way. So they are not able to contribute code. Don't think that WOTD has died though because it hasn't. I've said this before and I'll say it here. I have dorm school for the time being, so coding is limmited. But I'm still working on more levels and features. So the actual reason I revived this topic was to wonder if anyone has any requests before I release another version. This could be features, or just any thing that you may want to see in the next version.Thanks.

Re: Scrolling Battles, You're World, online platforming exploration game

OK. Deep breath.I totally get how it looks like a dictatorship. And thinking back on some of the crazy shit that's gone on on that game, hell I'd think the same thing as an outsider. What the hell is wrong with this crazy game and it's crazy, stupid, insane, unstable flakey developer?I'd never meant for the game, or anything for that matter, to get this far. What Alokin does on the game, I honestly don't know, because I'm honestly not around on the week days to figure that out. I have training at the center Iowa Department of the Blind here, so that takes up most of my time. I can only just hear it from others. So ... Do I run my game like a dictatorship? i honestly try not to. Do I have anger issues? Yes. Do I let things get to me? Yes. Do I always take criticism well? No.Should I moderate my own game? Maybe not.See, here's the thing. I really, honestly do enjoy developing and coding and watching my ideas come out. And I love the environment that SBYW provides when it's at it's best. A calm, cool place to just build. Maybe if I just create an alias account for a while and play as a player and not a developer, and develop behind the scenes, it'll help. I think what really sets me off is coming online to my game and immediately getting blown up with Mason can you do this, Mason can you do that, etc, when most of the time I just want to come online and hang out.Maybe I need to make some kind of report system of some kind, where people who want things checked on can send it to and the admins can look into it. Maybe I can then put myself in the position where I'm not always constantly under pressure or stress and then maybe I can really start to work on myself and getting my temper and issues under control.I welcome any thoughts.

Re: My First real game, The blank game 2 Pine Attack!

If you're talking about The Blank Game 1, it's finished, but not completely translated. If you don't have a way to translate Japanese or don't know it, it's still playable. Almost all the items that should work correctly are in English. All the items that look like skills were supposed to be skills, but they don't work so don't bother with them. You can equip them, but they'll act like hammers because that's how they were in Alternative Magic, wich is a Japanese game. Also, when you enter the sleep places, you might get a private action which is a conversation between the characters. I'm only letting you know of this because only some of them are in english. The following are in english: Milltown, Pamboo, Small Village, Exponents, Math Place. All the others are in Japanese so just skip them, and they don't relate to the game. Also, another thing you'll want to know is about the orbes. Their are orbes in the game that you can attack once and they'll be gone. In Alternative Magic, the orbes were supposed to stop you from progressing until you got the propper spell to destroy them. So, when I make the orbes so you could just attack them, only now did I realize that players could miss a whole bunch of the story. So, here is the list of events ware orbes shouldn't be destroyed until other times. Between Exponents and Math Place: first, you will need to go to the side road between Pamboo and the Small Village, and do math to get light type magic.Math Place: first, go to the ruins, beat the boss, then go to the main street after beating it. You can then destroy the orbe at the entrance of the Math Upgrade Cave. Entrance of Math Upgrade: do not! Destroy it until you've completed the ghost ship! The moonlight tower is in the place with the town houses. I think that's all of them. Just pay attention to the story. It tells you ware you're going next, so search around the towns before leaving! Some of what the people say is also in Japanese, but no one gives you any skills or items, or advances the story, so you don't need to talk to them. Well, accept Trump in Exponents. Go ahead and talk to Trump and see what happens!

What you need is actually not thousands of dollars as far as mixers are concerned. Behringer has several boards that are under 60 bucks. just don't make the mistake I did and look for the zenix502, instead buy the zenix q502 if you want one of those. Zenix q502 is a bit more expensive but it's usb direct, zenix502 is completely annalog and its input is only rca-ports, which will ultimately result in you having to spend $30 on the Behringer UControl 202 which is the only usb soundcard that I know of that does rca-in. If using a mixer, you either need an xlr mic, or the listen option on if you're using a usb mic. So, the Blue Yeti is possible, but it doesn't directly work with the mixer.

2019-03-09 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : turtlepower17 via Audiogames-reflector

Getting started with streaming, what's the best way to go about it?

Hi all,While this is gaming related, I figured I'd put it in the off topic room just to be safe, although it can be moved if the mods think it should.I've noticed an influx of new gaming streams lately in the blind community. I was thinking of trying my hand at it, but I have a lot of concerns. If, after reading this, your answers are that if you don't know these things then you have no business even thinking about starting a stream, that's a completely understandable reaction, and all feedback is welcome. My first problem is that I don't have thousands of dollars to drop on a mixer and related equipment. I know that there are problems with the accessibility of many modern mixers as well, so if anyone has any recommendations for those that are accessible, and hopefully won't break the bank, I would appreciate it. Of course, there's the fact that I have no experience working with such equipment, either, so if there are any beginner tutorials that got you guys up and running, that would also be very helpful. When I've done podcasts in the past, I've used VAC, but that won't do for a live stream, especially since I prefer a lot of fast-paced games where timing is everything. I don't think it worked well on my podcast, either, but at least that format is a bit more forgiving.Next, there's the fact that I'll need a server and a website. I do not want to go the Youtube route if I can help it, but if that's people's preferred medium, I'll consider it. The reason I don't want to use Youtube is because I don't want to spend the majority of my streams fending off angry sightlings who want to know why the screen is black, spammers, and trolls. While I could purchase a webcam, I just don't want to, particularly since I'm going to have to purchase enough expensive stuff as it is. Even if I do decide that Youtube is the best way to get the most viewers/listeners, I'll still want an audio stream, since I always tune into audio streams myself so that I can remain anonymous if I want to, since my full name is displayed on my Google profile and I can't be the only person who does that. What chat services do everyone prefer? Of course, if I do decide to go the Youtube route, there's that, which I've already stated seems like a nightmare to moderate. I was thinking of a Skype group, and most likely a Twitter handle, but there again, especially with the Skype group, that seems like a ton of work to maintain. I've had experience moderating mailing lists in the past, and I tend to take a laid-back yet firm approach. If you screw up, you're out, otherwise everything is fine. I don't know, the more I think about this, the more difficult it seems, running a website, a group of some kind, a server to host the content, plus trying to pump out content on a consistent basis, which is the least of my worries, I have quite a few ideas on what I want to do content wise. But I can see why BSG has a team, so that all of that doesn't fall on one person. The last thing I'm wondering about is if there's actually a need for yet another audio gaming stream. Since there are a bunch of them popping up all over the place, is the market already too saturated? When I think of what I want to accomplish, I immediately think of Liam and BSG. They have vastly different styles, but they're clearly the two most popular in the community right now. I realize that everybody has to start somewhere, but do people actually want another of these streams hanging around, or would it be best to leave well enough alone?

I haven't thoroughly read all the posts here, so maybe what I am suggesting has already been proposed, but I thought of a system that might work. Of course, I don't know if it's possible, but here goes.Let's take an example to explain my idea. I release a game called "Your Totally Awesome Adventure." I go to the new releases room and write my post as normal, then hit submit. The thread is posted in new releases room. However, another thread is automatically made in general game discussion. Now, why would you want two threads? For one very simple reason: Anyone can reply to the thread in general game discussion, and so discussions can flourish. But only I can reply to the thread in new releases, since I'm the one who initially posted. When I do, that reply is also sent to the general game discussion thread, so whether you are just looking through new releases, or idly reading the discussion, you will see my 1.1 update fixing many horrendous bugs. In effect, the new releases room will become a place where *only* new releases can be found. But like I say, the general game discussion thread will stay in sync with it, so that you don't have to visit two separate threads to know what's going on. As a bonus, there could be links at the bottom of post 1 of both threads, so you could quickly jump between the discussion thread and the release thread if you impulsively change your mind about whether you care about the discussion or not.Tl,dr, post in new releases only when you have something to release and it will go to general game discussion automatically where it can be discussed.I have a feeleing something like this couldn't be implemented in the immediate future, but it sounds like it could be a win win situation to solve weaknesses in the current system.

Re: Final Fantasy Record Keeper Accessibility

Yep, that's one of the odd ones. So what I do is navigate to what I want to activate and then swipe up with 3 fingers using VO. Then you can navigate back to it and double tap. Usually, everything from growth eggs to reforge equipment works, and you only need to do this for abilities and below. You can also activate your actual inventory for selling items, as well as the vault, by tapping near the upper right hand corner of the upgrades and inventory screen. If you want to see more detailed info on a relic, ability, character, soul break or materia, you can also hold your finger over that item with VO turned off until you hear the selection sound. Then you will have a pop-up heading that you can navigate to with VO and read. The only thing is this takes a bit of guess work as to where the item is on the screen" They're always in rows, but depending on the screen there may be more columns per row and some scrolling necessary. One thing I forgot to mention in the last post about dungeons. If you're in realm and want to go to elite dungeons, or if there's more to an event, you can tap in the upper right hand corner of the dungeon list screen to toggle. This also works on the event dungeon list screen to go to conquest battles.

I feel now the problem will just go away. As in, this will all be forgotten in a short time and everyone will be back there again and he will have learned nothing, nothing will change. I can't see why people get into this feedback loop. The only thing I can say is that whoever goes back there has no right to bitch about anything that goes on there. Whoever goes back has tacitly chosen to accept the goings on, so it doesn't matter if he's literally banning people left and right because he doesn't like if they say the word 'hi' when they come on. If you go back, you are saying that you're OK with whatever goes on over on that game.

That's not a bad idea, but the question came  up in 2013 with respect to the articles room, what with people perhaps wanting to write walkthroughs in multiple parts etc.At that point it wasn't possible to restrict topic replies to just the topic's creator, which is why it recommends in the articles room faq that people post multi part articles in separate topics or edit their  existing articles. Whether that has changed since I don't know though I suspect your more likely to find an extension that auto closes topics after a  period of time without replies than one which restricts topic replying  to just the topic's original author.

Re: bbpythonnet issue with python3. please help

The issue could be a naming conflict with pythonnet clr, resulting in it loading a different library or file that may also be called clr. This could be because of another installed package that has the same clr import alias, or there could be files named clr in your working directory, which you'll either need to rename or remove. You can also check out the library your importing by adding this code after you import it:import clr
print(dir(clr))

Re: Final Fantasy Record Keeper Accessibility

Ok, I'm going to explain the home screen first, then the battle screen. You need to have VO off to select icons on the home screen. Here is the layout:Along the bottom edge are tabs. The first is the home screen tab, which just refreshes the screen you're on. A little to the right is party. To the right of that is upgrades and inventory, then relic draws.Slightly above that are the dungeons. You will need to scroll from right to left to access some of these. Far left is realm, then record, then event. Scrolling gets you to power up first, then nightmare, then mote and finally torment. Most of these will be locked at first.A couple inches above realm dungeon is your item chest. This is where mission rewards and login bonuses are sent. The screen can be navigated with VO.Slightly above that is the announcements icon. These can be read with VO.On the far right of the screen at the same place as the item chest is the icon that takes you to the hall of acolytes where you can browse the various missions available in the books. VO lets you read the books, but you have to find them on the screen with it off.Slightly above that is the anex. This brings up a small menu across the top middle of the screen. To the far left, slightly to the right of item chest, is the chocobo exchange. To the right of that is the hall of rites, then the library. The library contains the help database as well as some other useful things. Finally, in the upper right hand corner is the menu, where you can manage your friend list and profile, change settings, email support and so on. The menu reads with VO. Slightly to the left of that is the shop, which also reads with VO.Most of the other screens can be managed with VO, though in some cases it takes a little fiddling. Let me know if you have trouble accessing any of them and I will tel; you what I do to get around it.Now for the battle screen. VO reads nothing during battle, not even the pause menu.On the bottom edge is your actions menu. When you have a character ready to act, signified by a little ding sound, you can access any of these options. Bottom left is attack. Then from left to right are defend, ability 1, ability 2, and finally soul break. If you have more than one SB equipped, the bottom menu changes to let you pick one of them.Above attack is auto battle. For now, this just instructs all of your characters to perform a basic attack. From left to right after auto battle are roaming warrior, magicite and skip turn. Magicite you won't need to worry about for some time, and skip turn is mostly useful if you want to use abilities or soul breaks in a certain order.Above these two menues are the targetable enemies and allies. Enemies are left, your party is on the right. 90 percent of the time you won't need to use these. The game has an auto targeting system that does things like heal the ally with the lowest HP, target an enemy with a debuff that doesn't have it, etc.In the top right hand corner is the pause button. The game will also be paused if you lock the screen. To resume play, just touch near the middle of the screen and the battle sounds will come back.If you lose, the game over screen has 2 options; continue and quit. Continue brings up a menu where you can spend mythril or jems to restart the battle with a stackable bonus. Mythril is the top option. As for healing in the camssite, mostly you won't need to do this. HP is restored between dunjeons. But if you do want to, once you activate heal a heading will apear that you can get to with VO.Just because it will be useful for battling, I'll also tell you a little about party management.Early on, you can mostly use the remove all and optomize buttons. Optomize is in the uper right corner of the party management screen. Remove all is slightly to the left of it. When you select remove all, you can turn VO back on and navigate to the heading that appears. By default, all options are checked. If you want to manually manage equipment, you can mostly do it with VO. This especially applies to abilities, soul breaks and materia. For equipping relics though, you need to briefly turn VO off and touch near the right middle edge of the screen. Weapon is the top icon, then armor and finally accessory. They are kind of close together so it can take some trial and error. To change party members, you can tap the cached images under the heading that says party members. These are in the same order as displayed above the heading. You can then use the sort button, right before the characters list, to filter the characters. If you want to sort by series, you select that option and turn off VO. The series are arranged from left to right near the bottom of the screen. Be careful, if you tap too low you will hit the close icon. In order to get to any series after FFXII, you need to swipe from bottom to top to scroll up.Of note is that optomize will fill all 5 of your party slots, but it will not ch

Re: Light Battles 1: Clash of Lightsabers

I’ve noticed that some of the Sabres switch between types. For example, for the humming noise, I heard Kylo re’ss lightsaber I think. Is this correct? I’m really confused about the different types of lightsabers in this game at least.

Re: Streaming Tonight at 9:30 central

I have a question about the chat system you were using. When I connected to it, I could see one or two messages that people sent, but nothing after that. I could hear that you were receiving a lot more messages than that, though, so I switched browsers from Chrome to Firefox, where I still had the same problem. Is it supposed to do that? It seems to me like I should have been able to view the entire conversation.

Re: Scrolling battles pro

if you mean a thing where the user just presses left or right to walk and they can do it as slow or fast as they want like in stw, sorry but na. Think about it, someone who's good with there fingers could just button mash all day and move at lightning speed where as someone less able would end up walking pretty slow. Besides, that'd just introduce more button mashing which is really the last thing this game needs.
