recommendations for audio games for IOS

Hi there!I was a prolific audio gamer back in the day (as you can see my account was created in 2006 and it was back then I was at my most prolific) but I've completely fallen behind on what's new, cool and/or hip in the world of audio games. So I was wondering if any of you guys have any good recs for cool, fun or interesting games for the Mac?Thanks in advance! PS: I'm pretty much open for everything as long as it has replay value.

Re: upload audio to youtube

HelloI use a site called tunestotube.com but you have to pay to remove the captchas, and it can generate images for you like if you put in a picture and an mp3, or an mp3 and a title text, it will generate images for you. It works very well and I have used it dozens of times over the years.I will try out this mac adapter app now, does it work for youtube? What picture does it put in the mp4 file if its an audio?Thx.

slash nad backslash in crazy party

Hi, I feel like complaining. So here's a pointless over dramatic rant. Warning this may make no sense. Why do both slash and back slash toggle the announcements? Why have both instead of just one? And back slash already has a function in the deck manager, so can't the back slash function for announcements be removed? I want it deleted! I want it gone! Stop wasting my keyboard's space!

That's unfortunately what we get when old white men scared of those "brown people" are dictating how society aught to work, and I haven't mentioned the fact that their worldview mostly are based on kneejerk reactions and outdated thinking to begin with.Anyways, sorry to hear about your situation man, that's bureaucracy at its worst right there! I knew it was worse, but some of it was textbook Engrish and it was really apparent that I was a kid and not an adult. Brought back some memories though!Other than that I've been on a reading binge lately and read Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting in English (I read it in Norwegian back in 2015) but wanted to read the real deal, so to say. It was challenging in a positive way to read it narrated in Scots for the most part since I had to concentrate to understand it. It turned out fine though since I generally have a knack for understanding accents and dialects, if I should say so myself :dOther than that I plowed through Hunter S. Don't know why I haven't checked him out earlier since it sure was right up my alley! As with musical ventures I've decided to start actually making music, probably hip hop with some influences from reggae/dancehall and possibly some drum and bass under a different pseudonym. I've studied music myself back in the day, but I had much more doubts about my musical talent to actually go into it full time but after 5 years of studying both sociology and political science I've decided that normal academia is not for me. I'm an artist at heart and want to exploit that to the fullest from now on! I've also been a music nerd my entire life and listen to a lot of stuff, I'm  a pretty good singer and got perfect pitch so the only thing I need now is equipment to bring out all of my ideas for people to hear and I'm really looking forward to that! I'm applying for a bachelors degree in journalism and are there by moving to Oslo this summer just to have something to fall back on but maybe my initial reluctance to actually make something have made me better music wise? I think so, since my voice has improved a lot as well as my ability to structure songs and such.Anyways, sorry for the stream of consciousness rambling, I got a bit carried away, haha!

I've used Adapter on macOS to do it, but I can't figure out how to click the start button in the Windows version. What I essentially do is press the browse button to import the file, and then choose MP4 as the destination file type. The program converts the file into an MP4 video file that YouTube accepts. If anyone can figure out how to do this on Windows, please let me know.

You can tell if you've gotten the perk both from the log if you have the story turned on and by clicking the "View Perks" option in the table where you can save/export/change settings etc. The unlocked perks are at the top of the list in the dropdown panel, and you can spend any helium you had left over on them, but only from previous runs. That's how I'm benefiting from Carpentry right now.

Re: discord

Hi.@Chris, it only supports mono audio. As for audio quality, I've heard reports that users get distorted voice qualities in voice calls. I haven't been on any voice calls as of yet so I can't confirm, but some Twitch/YouTubers that I'm friends with have Discord and the people in the call sometimes sound distorted. As for server participant limits, let me copy/paste what's on the Discord Wiki:◾ A user cannot be on more than 100 servers. Once this limit is hit, any server invite will display as "Invite Expired".◾ Servers have no theoretical member limit - there are servers with tens of thousands of users (75k+ in once instance).◾ Servers reaching 5,000 simultaneous online members will need to contact Support to be moved to hardware supporting larger servers - this is when members start getting "Server Unavailable" errors.◾ A server can have at most 500 channels - text, voice, and categories combined. Once 500 channels are reached, no more channels can be created.◾ A server can have at most 250 roles.◾ A server can have at most 50 regular and 50 animated emojis.◾ Servers reaching 1,000 members have the offline members list removed.◾ Message limit: 2,000 characters. (note: user/channel/role mentions and emojis contain more characters than are shown)◾ TTS message limit: 200 characters.◾ Pinned messages limit: 50 messages◾ Reactions per message: 20 reactions.◾ Maximum attachment size: 8 MB (or 8388608 bytes to be exact).◾ Maximum attachment size with Nitro: 50 MB (or 52428800 bytes to be exact).◾ Minimum time for idling: 10 minutes.◾ Username/nickname: 32 characters.◾ Channel topic size: 1,024 characters.

Re: using Rea Samplomatic to "sing" with samples?

I once asked how to make a soundfont based on the old Windows 2000 ding sound in G5. But, if this plugin just does what I've been able to do manually with my DAW by making multiple copies of that file with differing notes, then cutting, copying, pasting, and mixing with proper fades, wouldn't it just be the same as making a sound font?

Re: Question from an OpenAL rookie

Don't have much experience with C#, but you can find a few examples [here]. You'll want the [OpenAL-Soft] version to work with. Feel free to check out the developer guide [here], and EFX guide for reverb and such [here]. If it helps any, I have a number of example scripts written in python for hrtf, efx, recording, and positional audio, which you can find [here]. It also includes a collection of hrtf tables with links and guides on where to get and compile them yourself.

I am blind and hard-of-hearing, and pardon if this comes off as sounding blunt, but if anything it's probably because of ignorance.. I have experienced some internalised ableism by some blind people, such as excessive yelling, sounding angry, or otherwise making me feel as if it were my fault that I couldn't hear them the first time.I also have an older brother who is profoundly deaf and blind since birth, but unlike I, he never developed oral language skills, so his behaviur is the only means of communication.Look at post 16 in the thread entitled Blind and Sighted Mindsets, or something like that.

Re: Installing Classic Troopanum (new version)

Hello. @TurtlePower, you can make it work by doing the following:Make sure vbrunSp6.exe and the windows audio media distributables are installed. Then download the Visual Basic 6 Run-time+ zip file from Source Forge, extract it, and install the necessary files. This, if done correctly, assuming you have installed .Net Framework with one of AProne's games, will enable the running of the original Troopanum's Pipe's shortcuts with administrator. I know I got the new Classic Troopanum to run under Windows 7. Usually anything that runs on 7 can run on 10, with some tweeks. I wonder what is unusual here. Let me know if you get any errors.

I disagree with that though. I don't like that they just decided for everybody not to allow it. I could certainly see their reasons, but it's for us to decide. So, the better course of action I think would have been to create an option under race settings, default it to off, which says something about allow custom vehicles in multiplayer. If you host, that setting gets applied. But, if me and a few people want to have fun and we know the things are imbalanced, that's our choice.

Re: World building

Totally agree Dark.To the genre thing: yeah, there are a bunch of unclassifiable games out there. I only meant to give examples. If you read "Save the Cat" by Blake Snider, he has a whole chapter on non-traditional genre writing. As far as that question goes, it doesn't matter what you define your project as as long as it makes sense to you.Though I think your example of Final Fantasy would fall under steampunk if I'm not mistaken. But, like I said, it only has to make sense to the project developer. It's only to keep them in a frame of mind--not to provide publishing material. If someone wants to call their project a "farmer goes dragon slaying adventure," I don't see anything wrong with that. Also, I never meant for all the questions to be answered. Obviously there a bunch of questions dealing with the rest of a world that would have no baring on a project that only exists in one city. Many questions are context dependent. That should be obvious.I tried to put the questions in a certain order so that if one was answered one way than other questions below it would be clearly not applicable. It should be pretty clear how much a project needs to be developed. If you need things to think about for how much you want to define your world then these questions are collected here. People who don't need detail aren't obligated to some or any of these questions. I'm just trying to give people things to think about. And if you're developing an RPG, or other deep story type projects, then world building is often critical to a good story--not always but often. Not all these things will even come up in the game. I think Lucas did more world building than you realize behind the scenes. It's not always about what's said directly in a story or glimpsed in the background, but world building helps any storyteller ground their story in a believable world rather the end user gets to see all the dials, switches, and sticky notes that went into the project or not.Brandon Sanderson has boxes of notes and notbooks filled with esoteric details on his Cosmeer that the reader will never even know about through his stories--same with George Martin, Tolkien, Herbert, and a ton of others.PS. Martin already knows who will sit the Iron Throne, and has since he began writing Game of Thrones because of world building.

It's not always about what's said directly in a story or glimpsed in the background, but world building helps any storyteller ground their story in a believable world rather the end user gets to see all the dials, switches, and sticky notes that went into the project or not.Brandon Sanderson has boxes of notes and notbooks filled with esoteric details on his Cosmeer that the reader will never even know about through his stories--same with George Martin, Tolkien, Herbert, and a ton of others.

@7Could you please be a bit more specific about your issue with VBA? Here are the step by step instructions on loading the game file and the lua.1. Run vba.exe.2. Press control+o to open the open game file dialogue.3. Select the "Pokemon - Crystal Version (USA, Europe).gbc" file from the file list [if this is the first time you have launched the .exe file and have not modified the folder, that .gbc file should be your only option].4. Select and prress enter on that file [from now on, you can quickly launch the game file in VBA by pressing control+f1, assuming this is the only game you play with VBA].The game will now make strange 8-bit sounds. Now to get the .lua file up and running.1. Press alt+t to jump to the tools menu.2. Press l to jump to the "LUA Scripting" submenu.3. Click the first option "New Lua Script Window..." or press n.4. Navigate to the browse button or type the full directory the .lua file is located.5. Select and press enter on the "pokemon.lua" file in the list if you have clicked the browse button.6. NVDA focus will return to the main new LUA Script window. Navigate to the run button and press enter.7. Wait until your screen reader announces "ready" and press escape to close the windows. The game should now be running with the LUA script.

@26, apologies, I had not taken into account you meant the origin of [0, 0]. I understand now. And I think you misunderstood my thing about orientation. Orientation is not needed to know the distance of something. However, in most sound libraries, they either place hard restrictions on orientation vectors (i.e. both must be perpendicular to each other) and error if that isn't the case, or they put those restrictions but cause "undefined behavior" when you fail to give them the right orientation. (I've never seen a sound library that does the second, but FMOD definitely does the first, and I think OpenAL does too.)I do apologize  for the no/know thing, the phrasing was confusing.@redfox, as I said in 25, start small: try creating mazes. That particular activity is energising because you can toy with the algorithms and create new, interesting things. Then once you've got a maze generator you like written in your game (and yes, write it yourself), add onto it. And build up from there. But start small. Here's a list of algorithms you might want to try:Aldous Broder: Starting at an arbitrary location in the grid, move randomly from cell to cell. If moving to a previously unvisited cell, carve a passage to it. End when all cells have been visited. (This one is highly inefficient but is one of the more easier ones.)Backtracking generator: Starting at an arbitrary location, perform a random walk, avoiding previously visited cells. When no more moves are possible, backtrack to the most recently visited cell and resume the random walk from there. The algorithm ends when it tries to backtrack from the cell where it started.Binary tree: For each cell in the grid, randomly carve either north or east. (I would highly recommend you try this one first; it is by far the simplest and fastest algorithm.)Recursive division: Begin with an open grid, with no internal walls. Add a wall that divides the grid in half, with a passage through it linking the two halves. Repeat on each side of the grid, recursively, until no open areas remain.Ellers: Consider the grid one row at a time, sequentially. Assign the unvisited cells in the current row to different sets. Randomly link adjacent cells that belong to different sets, merging the sets together as you go. For each remaining set, choose at least one cell and carve south, adding that southern cell to the set as well. Repeat for every row in the grid. On the final row, link all adjacent cells that belong to different sets.Growing tree: This algorithm is a generalization of the Prim's algorithms. Start by creating a set and adding an arbitrary cell to it. Then, choose a cell from the set. If the cell has no unvisited neighbors, remove it from the set; otherwise choose one of the unvisited neighbors and link the two together. Add the neighbor to the set. Repeat until the set is empty.Hunt-and-kill: Starting at an arbitrary location, perform a random walk, avoiding previously visited cells. When no more moves are possible, scan the grid, looking for an unvisited cell next to a visited cell. If found, connect the two, and resume the random walk. The algorithm terminates when it cannot find any unvisited cells.Kruskal: Begin by assigning each cell to a different set. Randomly link two adjacent cells, but only if they belong to different sets. Merge the sets of the two cells. Repeat until only a single set remains.Prims (simplified): Initialize a set with an arbitrary cell. Randomly choose a cell from the set. If it has no unvisited neighbors, remove it from the set. Otherwise, choose one of the cell’s unvisited neighbors, link the two together, and add the neighbor to the set. Repeat until the set is empty.Prims (true): First, assign every cell a random weight, and initialize a set with an arbitrary cell. Choose the cell with the greatest weight from the set. If it has no unvisited neighbors, remove it from the set. Otherwise, choose one of the cell’s unvisited neighbors, link the two together, and add the neighbor to the set. Repeat until the set is empty.Sidewinder: Consider the grid one row at a time. For each row, link random runs of adjacent cells, and then carve north from a random cell in each run. Treat the northern row specially, linking all cells into a single corridor. (Another easy one.)Wilsons: Choose an arbitrary cell and add it to the maze. Starting from any other cell, perform a loop-erased random walk until you encounter a cell belonging to the maze, and then add the resulting walk. Repeat until all cells have been added. You can also make your own, if you are so inclined. Don't be bothered if its slow, though -- that happens to everyone! I won't tell you how to create a grid; I'll leave that up to your creative and intelligent mind. And if your chosen one ends up to be too complicated for you, try another one.

Simple NVDA questions from a novice user

2019-04-13 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Mitch via Audiogames-reflector

Simple NVDA questions from a novice user

Hello. So I'm relatively new to NVDA, and I'm trying to check my davice specifications, as well as update my software. I had used the disk cleanup tool because I only had a 32 gb eMMC drive, and Windows was taking up 25 GB of it. When NVDA gets to groupings so as the device specifications, is there a way to actchally read those? I primarily use tab and the arrow keys, and the only thing that comes up is to rename the PC.Regarding updating Windows 10,  I had, when cleaning up the disk, checked the windows update button. Was I not supposed to do this? When I go to Settings > Windows Updates, and I set four updates, a feature update, another Microsoft update, and two Intel updates. It doesn't seem to do anything when I press enter or space on those updates, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.OK, I'm almost done with my incessant questions. I've been looking around for a Windows keyboard shortcut guide ghn NVDA, I can look at the user guide for that), but I can't seem to find a complete one. Does anyone know of one that I can google to find it?Thanks, and I hope that I'm not asking too much.

A couple of questions in python

I'll keep this short and sweet, mostly because I don't have a lot of time to write a paragraph per question like I usually do.1: What is the point of properties in a class?2: Why do people sometimes inherit from an object class? I mean something like this:class stuff(object):Typing dir(object) revealed it's documentation, which wasn't helpful.3: Sometimes, I see something like this:def func(*args, **kwargs):Or something of that similar nature. What are the args and the kwargs?

Re: This forum's copyright and cracks discussion problem

2019-04-13 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Site and forum feedback : Jayde via Audiogames-reflector

Re: This forum's copyright and cracks discussion problem

Ignorance, arguably, is an excuse in certain situations. If you lack certain info and are called to task for it, maybe you had no idea that there was a problem at all. Example for the sake of thoroughness, even if it's silly: you routinely hang around on the south side of a huge, fenced building with no signage. There's a gate on this side, and at some point, the ball you and your friends are kicking around zips over the fence. Well, you go and stroll in the gate and grab your ball. Next thing you know, you're being jumped for trespassing even though the gate was open and there was no "no trespassing sign". That sign was on the north side of the building where you had never been before.Again, silly example, but the point is that sometimes you can be reasonably believed not to have known something was wrong. A greater-picture perspective is necessary before saying "ignorance is not an excuse".That said, it doesn't apply here. Not at all. Even if you want to use the language barrier argument - which I don't buy in this instance, by the way - the user has had almost a dozen brushes with this problem, and past a certain point, the exact wording he used really isn't the point. The point is that he has shown a cavalier attitude toward cracking, and is trying to encourage others to do the same thing. This isn't okay, and this is why he got banned. If this had been the first ever brush with the whole cracking issue for a given user, then okay, yeah, totally different story. I might have issued a caution for it, or at least stepped in to say "Hey, actually, no, that's kinda not how that works". But this was another good-faith thing. It's pretty clear what Tmstuff was up to.

Re: An opurtunity for work, for only some small code!

warning warning! response coming from a none-programmer!1) no VS know. Carefully analysing the grammar, everyone would know you must no, as in n o, is not a correct English term. So, even without me looking at that, it was totally obvious to be k n o w. but then, maybe it's just me.2) However, getting a co-dev, telling the co-dev what to do, in other words, a form of a do what I tell you... Well good luck finding someone who basically jumps around according to your commands, in something where they're supposedly co-devs. That would worry me in terms of team work and communication.3) Religiously studying the code, sure, that works, but you'd probably ask for clarification, and at that point, as others have said, the co-dev is then doing most of it. And to then get a one time payment, and do what they're told... Again, I wish I could hope for success, but things just aren't there at the moment. Also, you're looking for, as you've put it, an advanced, or at least a more advanced dev. That's fine, nothing wrong with it. But if you struggle with certain aspects of coding, don't you guys think someone could submit something real advanced, claiming they've written it, and find an explanation online? surely you'd want to understand what has been submited?
