Re: infini crawl, text dungeon crawling rpg similar to the wastes.

Just a few Suggestions, if not already planet:- you could get alies who help you in the game or can fight with you.- quests could be a nice Addition. Or mini stories within the game.- inhabitants of the different Areas you can meet wich could help you in some ways or you can talk to them and such.maybe some of this are usefull, just elements that came in mind from other RPG's. The planed clas System sounds awesome, BTW, as well as the Sound updates you currently make. Very cool.

Re: Bloodbath released!

In my oppinion I think devs should not release their games in stages.  Hell, not even talk about them to the masses until its way closer to release. I like how VG Storm did it.  Thats the way to do it.  I understand the excitement in creating something and sharing with the world, but How about waiting until the products are finished?  None of this 1.1 1.1.2 1.1.3 and so on micro releases.  It gives the community more room to nit pick and fucken bitch.  People don't forget devs also have a life. School, work, friends outside this swamp pool, a family, All of that takes time, and the devs just like us don't have all the time in the world.  And its not like they are making billions of dollars.  The little money they make goes for the upkeep of servers, sound libs, and who knows what else.  Lets just stop dragging one another through the crapper, it will make this sight a more pleasant place to visit.

Re: Steam problem

So when you open Steam, it logs you in correctly, and yet doesn't read anything? Odd. Once it finishes logging in, I usually just have to press tab, and I'll be moved to the game library window, which's structured like a web page.Perhaps it's showing you the SteamGuard window? Do you get a code sent to your email address? If so, try typing it into the steam window and pressing enter. If you're using NVDA and don't have it yet, you should grab the ObjPad add-on. Most of the time when something in Steam can't be accessed normally, you can get to it using scan mode. The add-on is already compatible with NVDA 2019.3.https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/objPad.en.htmlIf pressing enter on something to activate doesn't work, try to bring the mouse's pointer to that button (NVDA+NumpadDevide on laptop) and use right click, or NumpadMultiply.I hope one of these things can help. If not, well, I'm just a noob. No doubt, someone with more experience will be able to help you. Good luck!

Re: Blindness and Schizophrenia

2020-02-13 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : bashue via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Blindness and Schizophrenia

Greetings all.Although I wasn't born blind, I did lose my sight when I was a few hours old because I was born premature. As for being a schizophrenic, I do believe that I am the psychiatric definition of a schizophrenic. I heard voices as though they were external ever since I could remember and when I was a child, they kept me up most nights. Sometimes the voices say words repeatedly and other times bits of music and frightening noises kept playing in my mind. No I was never diagnosed and my performance in both primary and secondary school was heavily affected. I know how it feels to hear multiple voices in your mind telling you not only how useless and worthless you are but to also cause harm to others. These voices cannot and will not be silenced by conventional means and medication is only a temporary solution. I also know how it feels when the demons watch you so they can pounce on you when you eventually do fall asleep and enter their realms. You may therefor ask what solution did I find that works for me 100% of the time and I did find a solution with the help of Jehovah; the website on my profile is what has aided me from April 2017. If you look at my facebook page, I've written many posts attached to news articles regarding this and other topics. While I'd be foolish to deny science in the role of mental health, I won't restrict myself to it either because I definitely believe that schizophrenia is a spiritual affliction that can and does affect the brain chemically rather than it being only chemical in nature. Many of you would say that I hold to irrational beliefs but are they truly irrational when the end result of me having said beliefs is that I've been able to improve myself and to be at peace at long last? Finally, I definitely believe that being totally blind or otherwise does not protect you from any kind of mental/emotional/spiritual disorder. I must admit to not liking reading those articles mentioned in post 1 and besides, I've never heard of anyone who believes in spirituality entering the mental health profession/field, nor have I ever heard of a blind or otherwise disabled individual go into said field either. Maybe they should and for once we can have someone who will be loving, kind, compassionate, merciful and forgiving to fellow sufferers. The mental health carer's manual, the paper on mental disorders related to but are not schizophrenia, the paper on how to cope with all mental disorders and how to ensure that life doesn't get so bad that you'd contemplate suicide, the DSM diagnostic statistics manual and what happens when love and compassion is taken out of the profession/field; the above articles will help in this endeavour. To sum up, I don't believe that whether or not you're blind from birth truly matters when it comes to any mental disorder, nor do I believe that any other disability affects whether or not you suffer from aforesaid mental disorders for that matter. I do however believe that the articles you referenced were written in ignorance and there wasn't anyone who were spiritualists that contributed to any of those articles. If there were then we could have a productive discussion. I did say earlier that I've never heard of any blind/disabled individual going into the mental health profession but I do know of at least one individual, counsellor Trina not her real name but the name she used on vorail who went into the profession as a Christian counsellor. She was the one who told me that there are some in the profession that do actually care about their patients and who do treat them with respect and dignity. Speaking of which, never under estimate the power of prayer or of true counselling.Kind regards, Amin Abdullah.

Re: Steam problem

@1, some areas on the steam client, like the store or the library, uses a web like interface so you can access it easier. However, to access settings or to go to a different parts of the steam client, you have to use screen review mode then search the menu that you want to open, then root the mouse cursor by pressing NVDA and numpad multiply then do a left click by pressing numpad multiply without holding the NVDA button.

Re: Thoughts about the thirteenth doctor

Whilst I'm a little late in terms of broadcast due to me being very tired in the evenings after going to hospital with MRS Dark, I was less tired last night, so I treated myself to a fine glass of port, a box of coco covered chocolate truffles and the first two episodes of season 12. This also means that this morning my thoughts are back, and since I will be discussing spoilers, if you don't want the plot spoiled, stop here.01: Spyfall part 1 Okay, I admit I didn't care for this one at first. We seemed to run into an issue where action sequences got randomly dropped into the plot at inappropriate times, and where the doctor's companions ceased to feel like real people, albeit the geeking out over  gadgits was fun!So we can suddenly infiltrate an evil millionaire's base and get access to him for no reason, and oh, look the two poor australian secret agents volunteer to keep watch outside the house, and are killed just in time for Agent O, who appeared to be the world's biggest none entity to remember the secret force field, oh that was convenient (pun intended), shame about the poor extras. Yet, with the revelation of the Master, so much of this makes sense. Why have the Doctor picked up by MI6 and then an attempted assassination? because Master is a psychopath who likes to play with people, he was probably laughing up his sleeve at the agents' tragic deaths. Also probably the best master reveal ever and a nice way to get rid of the lingering bad taste of that flirt machine Missy, indeed Sacha Dhawan's master is one of the best I've seen, a completely random psycho with a wonderfully soft and menacing voice and tonnes of charisma, plus the spy aliens were just down right creepy and their dimension such a wonderfully alien environment. That being said, hanging the cliff by teleporting the doctor to the rather easily escapable place Yasmin got out of earlier is not the best way to end an episode, and whilst a lot of the spy antics, bike chases, gadgets and card games were fun spy trappings, I never really got much of a sense of menace, accept when the Master appeared. So all in all not a bad start, and one that improves with hindsight, but still a little over fluffy in places. 02: Spyfall part 2 As I said, starting with the Doctor in the really easily es capable dimension really wasn't such a good thing, though I did like the time hopping to different periods with the Master in pursuit, indeed seeing the dark skinned master mascarading as a nazi officer by use of a perception filter was so wonderfully wrong! as were his antics at the 1854 exhibition (I love the way he appologised to the woman before tissue compressing her, since of course we had to bring the master's tissue compression gun back). Also my god, so good to see Doctor who remembering it's continuity for the most part, everything from mentions of the fourth doctor's death, to the sound of drums timelord heartbeat, to even remembering that the previous doctor was actually male (something we've barely acknowledged previously). it's nice to see the thirteenth doctor take her place in the continuity rather than trying to do something different. Unfortunately, the plot back on earth was a little too muddled. The aliens' identity was never adequately explained and whilst the evil plan was pretty evil, it was no sooner stated than reverse. Indeed, I find it odd that this episode both featured the best example of a "I went back in time and fixed it), plot, with the wonderfully tense sequence of Ryan and co landing the plane with the Doctor's rather garbled instructions, and the absolute worst example of a "go back in time and fix it" plot, with the doctor casually revealing that she'd already instituted a virus to stop the aliens coming through the machine only after the fact, a reveal so deus ex machina it's worthy of Adam West's batman. I also didn't really like the stuff with the team on earth, indeed the iea of a tech company declaring people persona none grata and getting them pulled in by the police and monitored is wonderfully scary, as is the idea of a tech company destroying all privacy to gain power, (a theme wich really should have been explored further). However, this again was where the Doctor's companions really disappointed, since again they were just super compitant at everythign! from avoiding the police to taking out a bunch of armed guards! I can't help comparing this to the similar situation in the sound of Drumbs when the Master was prime minister and went after Martha Jones' family, and you saw  down right desperate and nasty things got, with innocent people being dragged into police cars and Martha finding bombs everywhere. Finallyy, oh look, gallifrey has been destroyed, again! this revelation I really hate, since yee gods, haven't we had about 8 series of trying to get the damn thing back? And "all your history is a lie!" Really, can we leave the Doctor's past and the pas

It's been long established that the only reason the site hasn't fallen apart already is the very moderation team your previous thread threw a passive aggressive fit about. I mean, the forum software itself--and presumedly the version of PHP it's running on is about 10 years out of date, if that tells you anything.

Re: Creating a code free RPG using Sable (video 13), by Ebon Sky Studios

Hi Everyone,I’m really pleased everyone’s enjoyed the latest video, thanks to everyone for the positive comments and the interest everyone’s shown in wanting to QA test Sable. I’ve been busy as ever working away this week on Sable, but I’m hoping to get a chance to record part two of the video this weekend or at some point next week, as soon as its recorded and uploaded to YouTube I’ll be sure to post the link here. as ever I’ll answer questions which have come in below:@number 360, thanks for the post.  regarding multilingual support, this isn’t something Sable currently supports. Obviously for anything you create in sable you can write in which ever language you choose, so things like NPC’s speech lines, names and descriptions of equipment , abilities , items or objects etc you can write them in whatever language you wish and that’s how they will be read by the users TTS program. The limitation with this is that  there are currently certain elements which are hard coded  in English such as menu options etc, which there is currently no way of  changing. I would like to offer more flexibility to this in the future, but True multilingual  support would be difficult in a project like Sable, since unlike a game where there are a finite amount of textual lines/dialogs in game, which could all be manually translated and added to a game, with Sable each developer will add their own unique items and text to their game so there would be no way for sable to predict what text each developer would add to their game. There is also the issue that developers may use pre-recorded voice lines in places, which would cause issues if they wanted multilingual  support in their game. Sable’s current system for handling speech output does currently take any text due to be spoken through a single function I’ve built into sable, it takes the text and then turns it into Sappier TTS or sends it to the screen reader to speak. As far as I am aware there are no free programs I could use inside the speech function that would convert it into a different language before  it converts it to speech. . if you are aware of any programs that offer free textual translation though I would be interested to find out more about them since if there was a way to add automatic multilingual  support into sable that would be fantastic as its an area I’d like  to investigate further   in the future so sable could be enjoyed by more people, regardless of which language they speak. As ever thanks for all the positive comments, keep an eye out for part two of the latest video which  as mentioned above should be out some stage next week.Paul LemmEbon Sky Studiosemail: i...@ebonskystudios.comFacebook: https://m.facebook.com/ebonskystudios/Twitter: @ebonskystudios

Hey Paul.First: As always, I'm loving the videos about the engine. Thanks for giving us these sneak peaks into a future product that should give creative souls an avenue of _expression_ in a medium they might not otherwise be able to due to skill limitations.Secondly: I notice that you were demonstrating the locks and such in your recent video. You're using objects and such, but do you think you could make a skill as a key? In this way, you could have doors and/or containers which could either be unlocked by a key, or unlocked by the presence of a skill / skill level. So maybe the secret door to the vault of Aladin could only be opened by someone who managed to retrieve the artifact key of ways, or a thief could try to open it assuming his skill level was very high.I understand if this goes beyond the scope of your intentions for locks, but you'd be able to use this mechanic for a lot of class specific secrets, so I hope it can be worked in. An arcane library where only a mage with the right skill / spell could open it. The magically preserved heart of of an ancient king which holds demonic and wicked secrets that only could be discovered by a necromancer who knew the correct lore skill. The holy chambers of a long forgotten deity, accessible only to clerics who have achieved level xx in the divine communion skill. ETC.Keep up the great work.Kai

Hi all,Well... it's happened.I just tried to run the good ol game from Oriol known as Danger on The Wheel, and AVG popped up. Right, I thought, no big deal. Add to exceptions. It even said, exception created. I clicked close, and I get: operation can not complete because the file contains a virus. Then, I went one step further, and scanned the game file with AVG. Guess what? No threats found.I mean, how ridiculous can this get! The fact that is, specifically, told me that an exception was successfully created but then blocks the file anyway?

Re: Creating a code free RPG using Sable (video 13), by Ebon Sky Studios

Hi,@number 362, pleased you enjoyed the latest video. Thanks for the words of support towards the project, your post comments are exactly why we built Sable as we know there are a wealth of talented individuals  within the audio games community, not everyone can code  and hopefully Sable gives those people the tools to turn their own ideas and stories into games we can all play and enjoy. So again, thanks for the comments from yourself and others who have posted similar comments or messages of support as  these are all really appreciated from the whole team and can be really motivating to see people so excited about the project. As for your suggestion, that’s a really good idea, I don’t think it would be difficult to code in either but I think would be a powerful sable tool, I was thinking of something similar for abilities to disarm traps that the party members encounter in game. As ever I can’t promise it will make it into this version of Sable, but it’s definitely a good idea and something I’ll have a play around with. I think the biggest issue would  be that of keeping track of which abilities/skills open which doors in case a creator decides to delete an ability which is linked with unlocking a specific door and therefore leaving that door inaccessible  as its related ability/skill was deleted by the creator, but I don’t think this would be a huge issue just something I’d need to consider  the best way of implementing to prevent users deleting an ability/skill in their game which affects doors that ability unlocks  which have already been placed in gameThanks for the ideaPaul

After briefly summarizing evidence that schizophrenia is fundamentally a cognitive disorder, we review areas of perceptual and cognitive function that are both impaired in the illness and augmented in C/E blindness, as compared to healthy sighted individuals. We next discuss: (1) the role of neuroplasticity in driving these cognitive changes in C/E blindness; (2) evidence that C/E blindness does not confer protective effects against other mental disorders; and (3) evidence that other forms of C/E sensory loss (e.g., deafness) do not reduce the risk of schizophrenia. We conclude by discussing implications of these data for designing cognitive training interventions to reduce schizophrenia-related cognitive impairment, and perhaps to reduce the likelihood of the development of the disorder itself.IntroductionOver the past 60 years, several authors (Chevigny and Braverman, 1950; Abely and Carton, 1967; Horrobin, 1979; Riscalla, 1980; Feierman, 1982; Sanders et al., 2003) have postulated that congenital or early (C/E) blindness may serve as a protective factor against the development of schizophrenia. Supporting data derive from several sources, including literature reviews, examination of cohorts of blind patients in psychiatric hospitals, and surveys of agencies that treat large numbers of blind people. The most recent of these Sanders et al. (2003) noted that across all past papers, there has not been even one reported case of a congenitally blind person who developed schizophrenia. While we identified one reported case of a blind “schizophrenic” child (Stewart and Sardo, 1965), the 6-year-old described in that paper had many symptoms of autism and no symptoms of psychosis, and would almost certainly be diagnosed with an autism-spectrum disorder using DSM-III (American Psychiatric Association, 1980) or later criteria. In contrast to the lack of cases of people with C/E blindness who meet modern criteria for schizophrenia, reports do exist of people who develop both blindness and schizophrenia later in life (Checkley and Slade, 1979). We therefore hypothesize that it is the brain changes that occur secondary to C/E blindness – rather than blindness per se – that protect against schizophrenia. However, the mechanisms that confer this apparent protection have not yet been identified. In this paper, we advance the hypothesis that protection occurs by (1) strengthening the perceptual and cognitive functions whose impairment forms the essential nature of schizophrenia; and (2) constraining cognitive processes that are excessively neuroplastic in the illness. In the discussion below, after briefly summarizing the position that schizophrenia is fundamentally a cognitive (i.e., information-processing) disorder, we review evidence that a cluster of perceptual and cognitive functions is at once markedly impaired in schizophrenia and significantly augmented in C/E blindness, compared to healthy sighted individuals (see Table 1). In subsequent sections, we explicate the role of neuroplasticity in driving these perceptual and cognitive differences, we provide evidence that C/E blindness does not confer protection against other mental disorders (e.g., depression, anorexia nervosa) and finally we argue that other forms of C/E sensory loss (e.g., deafness) do not reduce the risk of schizophrenia. We conclude by noting the implications of these data for designing cognitive training interventions for patients and people at high risk for the disorder, and for devel

Re: Injustice 2, equipping gear and armor?

Hi.at Dan_C hmm yeah i  actually did, I set the screen size to the maximum what works for my screen so 1920 x 1080, so this is up to max values. I deactivated some graphical features like vSync and stuff like that to increase performance, this may have interfeared with it, I'll see if activating certain options brings any improovement. Thanks for uploading the file, i really don't  know how to navigate google dox, it's sorta strange.Do you also know by accident where I can get a list of combos and special moves? I checked on gamefaqs, but next to the quite awesome story script, the only movelist is not even complete and mostly consists of phrame data, which is an interesting read on it's own, but doesn't really tell me anything new.I see that some of the characters like Batman play mostly like their versions in Injustice, gods among us, but I suppose everyone has some new comnbos and getting up to speed would be a good idea, if not for the stories, then for the multiverse missions and increasing difficulty.Greetigns Moritz.

well for moves, I'd recommend a combination of eventhubs, as they have all of them listed, apart from extra abilities, plus a site called mk komplete.search mk komplete moves or similar and it should come up.  they are missing a few combo strings for a couple characters, but most is there.

Re: Warning about the newest NVDA update

That's why people are saying to use the IBM add-on with your existing ETI.dll for NVDA 2019.3 instead of the updated Eloquence driver itself. I did this before I downgraded to 2019.2 due to no Notepad++ support and it worked fine. No crashes. The IBM add-on is easy to setup and get working. if you want the latest add-on IBM package, don't download the release on Git tagged Latest Release. That version doesn't have a .nvda-addin asset. Go a couple releases back I believe though I don't remember now which one I grabbed.

The same was true when they bundled Dectalk, the dapi was still open so you could have easily used Dectalk with screen readers that had an Access32 drivers, and there was also documentation on making Dectalk sing. Plus PCS dos Game demos of course that used to come on the disk way back when.

Hello @Ianreed. With NVDA 2019.3.1, most users will not be able to use JGT, I will try to fix it on my own right now. But you still need to set this for general NVDA users

Re: Switching from IOS to android, any tips?

Again, if you can actually give a recording of this in action I'd love to hear it. Right now I honestly don't believe a word of it because if this were possible, people would be all over it. Also just an FYI, there is no eloquence for mac, at least not natively, and even if there were it wouldn't work in nearly the same way so just recompiling for IOS wouldn't be enough, hell It'd most likely be in a different language all together. We're talking about two totally different operating systems here. So I, to, call bullshit on your statements.

Re: Thoughts about the new immersive Audio RPG - The Cursed Painting

I can´t seem to run the game on my phone. I have the app installed and set up, and I have enabled the skill for Cursed Painting. When I try to open the skill, I get the reply that Alexa has no answer.

Re: Introducing RagePillow - Unleash your Rage in a Virtual Environment

Hey guys,I've become sick with a cold, so I'll have to hold off on releasing new versions of RP. However if you have questions or suggestions, please let me know. Here's what I have so far from people: Ammo for weapons. Possible hazard launcher. What else should I add to the list?

He wouldn't need a decompiler to do that. Do you even have any idea how BGT pack encryption works?

Re: Switching from IOS to android, any tips?

I'd like to see video evidence of you performing some every day actions on your phone, perhaps reading a news story or something or changing a few settings. It'd be even better if you could flip between eloquence and another built-in iOS voice on video.I do think though that just like the rest of your grandiose statements, this one is also bullshit but I'm happy to be proved wrong.
