Re: Stadia on smartphone

Agreed with dragons here.Since it’s initial launch in november, stadia has so many missing features, even basic ones like 4k support or exclussive games. Not just the players who are furious with stadia, some of the team who created it are also mad with it. To me it’s very unlikely that stadia will be saved from it’s demise.

Re: Some BK3 suggestions, and a rant.

I did start my new playthrough. I'm not going to go into exhaustive detail here, but here's what I did.1. As soon as you kill your first insect, it's an automatic level. I put all of that into attack.2. Then I killed insects and slimes for a little while till I got another level; all defense.3. I got the plate launcher and the other goodies, finished the first level. When I hit 1-2, I ignored the rope, because I realized that you can shoot down lamps if you jump and fire plates at the right time. I'll come back later.4. More grinding. Made sure to have 5 tech for the plate launcher. So far, the only things I'm raising are attack and defense, except for the aforementioned 5 tech.5. First boss is mean. Kite it. Stay away, hammer it with plates. It dies pretty fast, but two shots with rocks and you die.The game's difficulty curve at the start is fairly high. It gets ridiculously easy later on with more playthroughs, but some of the early bosses are just plain vicious if you don't know what you're doing.Seriously though. Get used to grinding. Not every level, obviously, and not all the time, but get used to doing it, particularly if you hit a level where you're taking too much damage. there is no level cap, so if you find you've messed up your stats a little, you can slowly but surely correct them.

@19 bd3 going payed would in fact not, as you say, not go down well with me personally. I'm still pretty amazed how all these games are free, and was glad I could support him when I bought the dictionary, even if it wasn't much. Frankly, I don't understand how this game and series is free, while you have to pay 35 bucks for the gate, considering bd is so much more feature ritch than that thing was.

Re: Blind Quest free demo and major update available now!

@hanif, As I said, you need to check all the consent boxes on the website, not just enter your details. This is actually a bit of a pain, because the site gives you no indication what is wrong if you hit submit and haven't checked the boxes, and also because there are I believe two separate consent boxes to check, as well as one to receive updates. Your best way is to use x or whatever other key your screen reader uses to go through check boxes, then fill in the fields. To be honest I am not entirely sure why demos of all of the audio.it/tikon blue games can't just be freely downloadable files considering the demos are completely separate programs to the full game, but hay. @Tbn, actually I like the fact that healing potions now mean something, even if I do wish they were a little more nuanced, and you can always get more as random battle awards. We might have to wait on expansion of the system with new equipment, different types of potion etc for the next blind quest game, however it is possible max_depa could add status checking onto the menu, along with use of healing potions outside of battle, though thinking about it as savepoints also seem to restore your health this might not be quite as necessary.

Using Pi-VPN to play multiplayer games that requirep ort forwarding

Using Pi-VPN to play multiplayer games that requirep ort forwarding

Hi all,I've been researching VPNs and have a question. I found PiVPN which looks like a simple yet secure way to set up a VPN. I was thinking about installing this onto my Linode VPS and using it to allow me to host and play multiplayer games that require port forwarding even if I'm on networks where port forwarding is not possible and/or permitted. Here are my questions in no particular order.1. Would this work in the first place? Here's my idea. I configure the VPN on my VPS and the Open VPN client on my computer. I then connect to the VPN so that it appears my computer is on the same network as the VPS. I would then open the necessary port on the firewall of my VPS. For example, TCP and UDP 25255 for Top Speed 3 or UDP 9995 for Palace Punch-up. If everything works correctly, I should be able to host any of these games on my computer and direct people to connect to the domain name or IP address associated with the VPS. Would this work or is there something obvious I'm missing? I'm still learning about computer networking.2. How secure is this? I would think it should be, since all traffic is going through the encrypted VPN tunnel. The game data itself might not be, but does that really matter?3. Will this be too slow? I know the encryption is going to slow down the connection, so I'd like to know if this is worth it in the first place. This is something I've been thinking about for a while. I liked the VPN Sebby set up, but it was too complicated for most users to configured, it required all involved parties to be connected, and it doesn't seem to work anymore. My idea was that I would be the only one required to do all the advanced networking, anyone else could connect using the public IP address for the VPS without having to install any software or have advanced knowledge of computer networking. What are your thoughts?

Re: Stadia on smartphone

I significantly doubt Stadia will get anywhere. What they propose (speeds similar to -- if not identical to -- local play, but streaming the game over the internet) is currently impossible with the architecture of computer networking we use today. You'd practically need to reinvent networking -- and even then you'd still have inevitable latency on shitty networks. You can get pretty close to local speeds over a network, but only if your on a LAN or you've got a really, really fast internet connection. If Google does (somehow and magically) manage to accomplish what people have been trying to do for decades -- make internet speeds pretty much instantaneous, something we still haven't achieved -- they'd revolutionize computer communications.

Off the top of my head lament and 7th plane both have that kind of system, Lament is the sister mud to cursed lands after all. 7th plane might not necessarily be to your taste if you like descriptions, though I will say the abilities, learning and classes are fun. Frandom sort of has an organic system for learning as well, and you will be rewarded for trying out new crafts too. Plus I like the fact in Frandom crafting has a really major point sinsce it's one of the best ways to get cash as you can't just get money by killing random monsters. then again, Frandom is sort of not like any other mud game anyway.there is also Geas, though I don't know much about that one.

Re: Some BK3 suggestions, and a rant.

Hi.I would like to address my stance for this as clear and detailed as possible here.My post will be so long. If you are willing to read my story and discuss, go ahead and continue. If you only need my thoughts, read one line below and hit h.I had my own plans for expanding the game to 2.0, include translation there and make the upgrade pay for everyone, while still maintaining v1 x with minimum support. But due to my life stage, it has become physically impossible. I am currently not trying to get a lot of money from selling games. I'm kinda undecided myself, but making the translation dictionary free is not a no-no choice, considering all of the circumstances. However, adding new features is not possible, no matter how you or I wished, unless something miraculous would happen.--When I first released bk3, I was 16. I had a really great time enjoying it with everyone and expanding it, while also having a lot of fun at school. That was truely a fantastic moment. The success of bk3 made me think about translation, but I wasn't confident that I'd been able to complete the task for my own. This was based on 2 facts: I could never translate the storyline with my English vocabulary (or, even if it were now, I wouldn't be able to do so), and I knew that I had to manually process 9000 lines in order to fully translate the game. Additionally, I had to insert translation macros in whole lots of places in the code and test so that I could ensure as much as possible that every single game text is properly processed by the translation system.Because of these, I first gave up doing it. However, some people like Assault Freak, Threeblacknoises and Patrick(I haven't seen him for a while and I totally forgot his username...) helped me with all those things and the project had been made possible. The translation project took over 2 years. Since I started it when I was in the first grade of high school, I was getting closer to entrance exams for Universities. The preparation was very hard since (I don't want to say like this TBH,but) the university I was applying and managed to enter was one of the most prestigious universities in Japan. After passing the exam, I quickly went back to the project and began preparing for the release. I decided to make it a kind of hybrid license (share + donationware). There were several reasons for this decision:1) I already had plans for v2 x, but didn't have money to make it possible since I had to pay a lot due to my movement and university stuff.2) The team members and I spent a lot of time and effort for the project. I payd for them right after the first launch, but I honestly think that I should have payd more since it got much sales than we first expected.3) Since I first released the game as a freeware, it was impossible to switch its license to shareware with a reason that isn't related to Japanese players at all or perhaps do not know completely. Also, completing v2 x and release it with translation was not a choice because the translation itself was already waited for a long time.As you can read from the lines above, I was planning for v2 x after entering the university. To be honest, I was thinking that I would spend most of my free time making games( You know, university students most likely have more time than high school students). However, that didn't happen. That was the beginning of the plan change or colaption. It can also be said that I decided to break the plan. That was a fact, but I respectfully don't want everyone to blame it.I got computer science degree. I gained special knowledge regarding web accessibility and its implementation / evaluation. I had interns. I got jobs. I became a member of research group. I'll start working full-time in 2 months. Everything enabled me to view various things in a much broader perspective, but I was slowly losing what I wanted to create, as well as division of my available times. Speaking of audio game development, it has been (and even now) the largest struggle for me.I tried prototyping several audio games and some of them were excivited at Tokyo Game Show 2018 / 2019 and other places in Japan, but none of them were epic for experienced audio gamer, and most of other prototypes are still lying on my hard drive. With all the things considered, bk3 translation dictionary might have already received enough compensation and support. I'm not trying to charge for making people uncomfortable. However, I admit that I consider "make everything free" trend as one of the major problems in the audio game market. Re: Warsim, text based randomly generated stratogy

@Aaron77, Thanks for jumping into the game again, you raise a good point about the arena and it's something I need to look into further, one solution I have is injury... if a fighters health goes low in a fight they should risk injury which would be a permanent reduction in total health/strength. Enough of this and your champion is dead meat. The game should allow you to spawn infinitely larger and more powerful RNG nations, this happens if at least one independent kingdom is dead and the other 4,3,2 or 1 are vassals or allies, or if all of them are dead. You then get an explore new lands option on the main screen unless you're playing a custom game and have disabled the feature. The demons are the end game boss faction though so you should definitely look at dealing with them!Definitely a good tip about factions, I need to work on diplomacy more in the future! Thanks for your kind words and I hope you continue to enjoy the game!@Omer, Lands are irrelevant, it's all Battlescore, so if you have 100 soldiers with 100 battlescore each, that's 1 battlescore, now if your enemies total troops are only worth 2000 battlescore combined, you can attempt to vassalise them. The minimum requirement is having 5x the battlescore of your attempted vassal. If you have 10x or 15x and beyond you get bonuses in odds of successfully vassalising them too

Re: Getting rid of the V Virus

Yep. It's a virus that made the rounds through some shared folders, it travelled pretty far in the blind community though I'm not sure where it originated. It replicated by searching for exe files on the computer. Then for every executable it found, it renamed it to have a v in-front of the name and copied itself in place with the original name that would first run the virus and then the file it was supposed to. So if it infected notepad for example, you'd have 2 files, notepad.exe which was the virus, and vNotepad.exe which was the actual notepad.

Re: Strategical text based card game, worldsmith game of worlds tournament

Okay, just created my first civilisation and got them to the galactic accordd hurrah! unfortunately, I think you need to create several to win the game mode. I've not even experimented with story yet since I have so much fun building worlds.Btw, anyone have any idea how I can get NVDA to speak incoming text on chrome? It works fine for a while, but after the buffer gets too large, it starts reading from the top, rather than reading the incoming text. I had a similar problem when trying the web version of flexible survival. Of course, it's easy just to go to the edit area and read up a few lines, but I've been a bit spoiled by auto reading of text with standard if interpreters.I also really wish there was a way to get all of the text of the incunable in a handy file without constantly having to hit different hotspots. There is an incunable.html file in the worldsmith data folder, but this just gives you an html file with the same hotspots as when using the bottom of the screen. Fortunately, game of worlds plays fine as a blorb file in win glulks.Edit: okay I'm now getting into the worldsmith story. I can see why the game mode exists, and actually whilst there is a lot to get systems wise, it's okay once you get the knack of things, five civilisations up, and five completed, it would've been six but, that would be telling! . I'm now going to start in on the story proper and see what happens.

Re: Battle Field audiogame

what is really important to add to the discussion about python and performance is it depends on the library you use. Python is probably the most popular language for data science and it can be very performant. but why is it good at such a resource hungry computation task if python is referred to be slow compared to compiled languages like Java and C# and lower level languages like C/C++ and Rust? It is because data processing libraries in python like numpy, torchpy, panda3D, etc. have their implementation written in a low level but performant language like C/C++ and provide a high level pyton interface.so, yes you could absolutely create great 3d real time games in python, but keep in mind you have to use one of these libraries that have been implemented in another language for performance. If you try to use the python primitive data structures like lists, tuples, and dicts, you will get nowhere near the performance. One problem I would have with choosing python for a multiplayer real tie game is that in my opinion it isn't the best for concurrent programming, which is critical for such a game running smoothly. has it been done? sure. but, it must have been pretty painful.but, don't let me discourage anyone from using python if it is their preffered language. it has some great benefits, namely a huge community. I would personally go with something that makes concurrent programming easier, like a language that has better support for programming in the functional style, like F# if you like the .NET ecosystem or Scala if you like the JVM ecosystem.one thing I would like to say directly to #1 is have you actually developed any decently sized game yet? because if not, then this as a first big project is more than you can handle. Particularly dealing with the concurrency and networking for a multiplayer real time game is not trivial even for  a seasoned developer. Sorry for assuming, but your account doesn't link to a website that would show any projects you have released yet.

I think, too, that you also need a fair understanding of cryptocurrencies.  They too fluctuate on a regular basis.  If your friend had started mining bitcoin years and years ago they could, I suppose, be a bit more well off than most people you know.  As it stands, while one bitcoin might equall roughly $1 at present, your friend needs to be lucky to meet two very specific requirements.1.  A miner must varify that they have secured 1 megabyte of transactable data.  This is known as a block.  That part is easy enough and makes it sound simple but for the fact that,2.  You need to be the first to solve a numeric puzzle.  Yes, the computer does it for you.  Yes, the computer will sit there until the problem has been solved, atempting to solve it.  The problem is that there are many, many others trying to solve a problem in the order of trillions, some of them with computers at the very least a bit more powerful than yours.  No, you cannot use your average home computer.  This may have been the case years ago when this all started, which is why I said your friend might have been better off then, but unless your friend is ready to make an investment in some serious equipment that can figure out a 64-digit hexadecimal number that takes terahashes per second to figure out, and that just to complete one block which may be of great value or little value, and that value is determined by the network based on who or whom the network assumes has done the most work, your friend is better off making youtube videos and hoping they will be rewarded in bitcoins. In short?  You need tens of thousands of dollars to seriously get started in any kind of bitcoin investment, because that is precisely what it is, an investment.  Once upon a time, BC mining was so simple that many were doing it and many were successfull.  The difficutly mining bitcoins however has increased with the passage of time and will continue to get that much harder every two weeks and with every new mining rig added to the cryptocurrency.  No, your friend will not be any better off than you unless they have that much money to start off with.

Re: A better way of handling gift requests?

Righto, and eventually that mindset will become a bannable offense based on the fact that people may or may not be abusing it.  Any Jo-shmo could come along and post and say they n3ed 2hav AHC n mumz just won't buy it, but not every post along those lines is truly credible.  This is the kind of thing I wanted to evaluate with my contest back in 2017... I can honestly say that I got noewhere.  by the end of the day, all the stories sounded too similar. And yes, the contest ended fairly; no one was picked out based on anything else other than who guessed numbers as close to or as correctly as possible.  I asked people to post a little bit about themselves, however if they were in fact submiting for a chance to win to try and figure out a similar system I could then propose to the mods at a later time, given I was part of the mod panel back then.  I came up with close to nothing because every system I came up with was one that could be easily manipulated.  You can limit it to one topic per person, per game, but that basically means that a person could then go about posting 100 topics if there are 100 games they wish to buy.  You can tell them to only post 1 topic and include all the games they want on that topic, but once you make that announcement you still have more or less the same issue that currently exists, that of having to keep up with which games have already been bought on that particular topic and for that particular user, out of possibly hundreds of requests. And on and on I could go, but I don't see the point.  The fact is that there is no real solution to this problem, and so I voted yes for the topic that has apparently started this one.  I honestly believed it to be the best solution because it at least is one topic you can either skip or read, where, if you want to be the one to try and figure out who is going to be honorable and honest enough to admit to you that they have in fact already received a copy of any particular game and isn't just going around sharing copies you're buying for them, well, that's on you.

But I'm nowhere near that part of the game right now, lol.The short answer of it though is, if you can get the farfetch'd to that place where you're blocked off from the east and west and can only seem to talk to it from the south? Move I think west a little bit to try and find a way to loop around to its north or east side. I can't remember which... but that's the biggest thing. Get it out of that little narrow part, and it should be clear which way to make it fly from there to get it back to its trainer.I hope this helped. If not, drop me your save and I can either write better instructions or record myself doing it.

I knew it! The guy can't even afford to get a new phone, far less a computer, plus loads of equipment. You said those can be in the tens of thousands, here in Trinidad, that would be in the hundred thousands, and I really don't think the bank would give him all that money to mine bitcoin, when he could get a car, or house or something. As I said, he's a pretty uneducated fella, who just takes whatever is handed to him and runs off. I mean, if it were so easy, 10 bitcoins would afford me a three bedroom house, 2.5 bath, laundry room, 3 car garage, a 6k yard etc.

Re: Listing an index of files on a page

I'm going to point out that with respect to difficulty, we're talking about enabling one line in your web server's configuration vs getting the PHP config right, then writing a PHP script to enumerate the directory.  Perhaps you don't have access to the web server's configuration, in which case the coding might be worth it, but otherwise one of these is clearly easier. Then I'm going to leave the discussion because this stands alone and anything else I might say on this topic would be redundant.

Comparing any of the BK titles, to Psycho Strike, or even Manamon is impossible. Manamon comees close, but its still behind. I always told my friend nyanchans was to me the best developer. And personally, all of us, even myself take you for granted. Why? Because you took the time and effort, the labour, the everything to make these bad ass games, that helped many of us through our hard times, and you took nothing back in return. Thank you for all that, and I hope you enjoy you're new job.

Hi.So, after playing through the storie and completing the bad ending (guess I need to play the hole thing again to get the other ending) I did play with some characters that I quite like, mainly Batman Wonderwoman, blue beatle and supergirl.I now actually get how the equipment screen looks and how to equip stuff, sometimes it still doesn't tell me what values change, but most of the time OCR does.the inventory screen is the one still giving me headaches abit, I suppose you mark and unmark items with the x button. Thing is, when I do that and and hit start to sell, i get a little overview with the stuff I want to sell, but it always has items selected that i didn't select or has more items selected than it should have.I need to figure this out again I guess.Greetings Moritz.

I do honestly think were it not for this game and it's little universe helping me deal with my real life problems and getting me into the wider audiogaming seen I might not be here today. Life had pretty much driven me to the brink by the time a good friend of mine introduced me to the series, and it's really thanks to you and your games I was able to find reasons to keep on living and moving forward. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I still hope one day you can find the time to complete BK3 2.0, but until then it's a lot more important you focus on your future, your job, etc.Good luck.

Re: Battle Field audiogame

@20 is (sort of) wrong.  Every point they make is correct in isolation, but we're talking about audiogames.  No one needs anything faster than Python for an audiogame unless it's the world's biggest audiogame MMO.I would like to take this moment to remind everyone that SoundRTS is in Python and isn't using any of these C libraries that people keep trying to bring into the discussion.  After it was optimized it was handling upwards of 5000 units in realtime, and could probably have handled a lot more than that, except that getting more than that into your map in any reasonable length of time using normal gameplay is hard enough that I've never seen it happen--indeed, someone's usually won well before the 5000 unit point and I only ever really saw it because there was a group of 3 or 4 of us who all played together obsessively for a couple months.  Python's data structures are fine. Our games, even the biggest games we have, are as sophisticated as the sighted equivalent of 1995, minus the graphics, which even back then was most of the computing power.  Computers have increased in performance by hundreds of times.  People can run games from 1995 inside a Windows emulator inside their browsers on a high-end phone.  Python is maybe 10 to 20 times slower than C, and we are also not  doing graphics.  If you're reaching for the Python science stack to make your game fast enough, then either you're overcomplicating your life tremendously or you have the single most complex audiogame ever produced by a mile.Better algorithms, i.e. spatial hashing for collision, will probably solve any performance problem you face.  Better storage methods, i.e. interval trees instead of lists of lists, or even just storing your tilemap in one flat list and doing some very basic math, will solve your ram issues.I don't think people understand the difference between machine learning and everything else.  Those nice Python science libraries aren't meant to run on anyone's machine inside Py2exe and in fact need a GPU, usually specifically an NVIDIA GPU, to really get all the performance out of them.  They're designed to handle datasets in the terabytes on supercomputing clusters, and some of them even expect that you're going to have the Cuda compiler installed.  They're actually very pleasant to use, but if that's not the problem you face today, it's probably not worth worrying about using them.If you go take F# or Scala and go to town on the functional features, you will end up with something slower than Python because of the copying and the fact that really those features aren't so great when the problem is mutate every game entity.  You can eventually end up with something faster, but it will take a lot of effort.  Functional programming has places where it shines but is first and foremost about expressive power and generally assumes you're always making copies of things, so if V1 of your game copies every game object on every tick go for it.  Otherwise you'll be optimizing your code a lot to equal Python.  But again, since this is audiogames, the performance hit really doesn't matter--you can be 10 times slower than Python and still have a playable game.  If you want a native language Rust isn't a bad choice except that learning their lifetime system isn't exactly new programmer friendly (and I say this as someone who contributed a big patch to their compiler).Game networking is the normal game loop, plus before you tick you read all incoming messages and after you tick you write all outgoing messages.  Python isn't necessarily the best at state of the art networking, but again, this isn't something you need state of the art networking for, and in general Python is good enough at networking that there are very large companies relying on it as their business (for example Zapier). If you're new to programming and you're considering threads to solve a problem, chances are you're not going to solve the problem and will just be adding the new problem of threads.BGT doesn't have threads.  BGT doesn't have concurrency.  BGT doesn't have functional programming.  Python has threads, concurrency, and some functional programming.  I'm not sure why people keep trying to reach for harder, more foreign things to write their games in.I would love to live in a world where audiogames had 20 years of innovation that we don't have, where people solved all the problems with things like true 3d environments that we probably can't solve ever, and where all of these concerns people keep bringing up are actual problems that we need to solve.  Instead, the world we actually live in is one where our games are, as I said, the equivalent of 1995, and most people on this forum own a computer with the computing power equivalent to a 1995 supercomputer.  I mean seriously, in addition to my point about running games in the browser, doom runs on pocket calculators from 5 years ago.

Hi everyone. So I recently got interested in DC stuff again and basically consumed all the stuff I had, a bunch of Batman audio dramas produced in Germany from 2013 to around 2018.So, I wonder, is there a good way on how we can possibly read the DC comics or are there other English audio dramas available? Graphic audio strangely apparently has the DC and marvel stuff in store only until feb 26, don't know why that is. Problem there I won't get some spare money that quick, so that chance is gone as well.I don't get why they remove the stuff from their site when some of the productions are from 2018 or so.So, are there accessible comics or other media, next to movies?Greetings Moritz.

Unlike other forums, my forum is intended to be a place where you can feel free to share your creations, from skitts, to text stories, to audiogames. Those forums haven't been created, yet, but after my bath, they will be done. The forum is also extremely community driven, as we are currently in the process of making the rules. I do have a draft up there, but we need a perminent sollution. Even the process of banning a user is community driven,=. We are also looking for staff members, so if you're into that stuff you can toss your hat in the ring. Its PUNBB, however, I tried to install PHPBB, but I had extreme  difficulty. Maybe in future, we will have a phpbb forum, but for now, lets go with what we have.

There's more to it than that; to my understanding, you can't just cash out.  You've got to be in it for the longrun and worth ic calculated every couple of years, meaning that what you see now might have changed for the better or for the worse.  As I said above, you could get lucky if you have that much money and set up a rig with it and mine a block in about ten minutes.  Maybe.  And that may be the only block you mine, meaning you have just enough to make up for the equipment you purchased. So, if you want to one up your friend, tell him that either, A, they need to look for an easier cryptocurrency to mine, or, B, start working on content that'll earn them bitcoins.  Yeah, I know, work.  We all love it.

Re: Battle Field audiogame

And, just to bring some numbers into the discussion:Doom was released in 1993.in 1995, the top supercomputer in the world had around 200 gigaflops of computing power according to this.  It looks like we hit 1 teraflop in 1997: source.A modern top of the line NVIDIA GPU, just one of them, has 100 teraflops of performance: sourceA typical home computer in 1995 looked something like this.  In the early 2000s people were still under a gigabyte of ram.  Nowadays it's hard to get a laptop with less than 4 gigabytes. It is hard to find numbers for home PCs, but if you want a good-seeming table, there's this one.  Looks like a home PC in the 90s would top out around 200 megaflops at best.  The issue is that home pc performance depends on temperature among a lot of other things.  A modern microprocessor can get up to 16 floating point operations per clock cycle, but usually 8 in practice; you have 4 cores nowadays; frequencies are 2 GHZ.  This gives around 127 gigaflops through simple multiplication, or 1200 times faster than our 1990s systems and over half as powerful as our 1995 top-of-the-line supercomputer (and I know someone is going to say but technically this isn't a supercomputer; go down that list a ways).  Also, you can get up to at least 8 cores in a home system, 16+ if you're willing to spend rather a lot of money. If I went back in time with my laptop, I would be laughed out of the room when I tried to explain how powerful it was.  If someone believed me I could probably sell it for on the order of anywhere from $10 million to $100 million. And finally, the system requirements for the original Doom (which shades of doom is, minus the graphics) were 4 megabytes of ram and an Intel 486 source. So, seriously.  I have watched threads like this one for 5 years where people decide that performance matters before writing anything, or based off stories of other people that had problems without bothering to use more basic algorithms than can be found in the game equivalent of hello world for collision, or etc.  What will it take to get the community to stop caring about performance?  These discussions are pointless.  Pick a programming language that you like and write a game.  It will be fast enough, and if it's not then that probably just means you need to learn a better algorithm for your physics or something.

The math will be portable, which is part of why I chose Clang.  Not the only reason; Clang generally tends to be ahead of everyone else for the latest C++ features.  In theory the audio backend is also portable.  Some of the I/O stuff may not be.It isn't that porting this to Linux or Mac is particularly hard, it's that I don't have those systems or the motivation and also hate Voiceover with the burning intensity of a thousand suns.  But actually doing at least Mac should be pretty easy, though Linux with Alsa was a really big challenge for Libaudioverse because it's barely documented and buggy,.  Hopefully miniaudio just handles Alsa, however.

Re: Battle Field audiogame

hi,talking about data science, (you are somehow write about computation on the gpu).libraries like pytorch, mxnet, tensorflow etc support nvidia graphic cards, but for a simple linear model (things like decision trees, linear regression etc) really don't need that much gpu (scikit-learn uses numpy which doesn't support computation on the gpu at all).also, for some kinds of neural networks (things like Dense layours, simple convolution networks etc), you don't need gpu computation (though I use gpu for it as well).for loading the data and batchify it, you also don't need gpu (but for the computation you might).don't think I'm against gpu, I'm saying that all of the ml algorithms don't need gpu, but for deep learning you probably need it.and execution with a natively compiled language like C++ can't help you as well in the computation because it is computation expensive (consider that the computer want's to learn many kinds of sequence features, and do a backprop out of it and optimize the neural network's weights).also, many of the deep learning algorithms require gpu, otherwise you should be alive maybe for a thousand years for it to complete the training process.also for prediction, you don't need gpu because prediction is way way faster than training loop.now for audio games, you are write. although python is more capable than development of audio games (even in it's direct form without using any natively compiled module like panda3d or pygame, but i advise you to use them)thats write as well that python is slower to natively compiled languages, but I have to say that python is an interpreter not a compiler

Re: The burning of candles, a Suzuki adventure game from China

Hi.I downloaded lokal emulator for windows 10, when I run the game, I get errors about Dlls. When I run it without the emulator and change the game name to game.exe, I get a pain thing and when I press enter the game exe file disappears.I have macafee because that's what installed with this computer and it's crap, so I wonder if that's deleting the file? Or it could be windows 10s virus protection thing.I also have the NVDA translate addon, the one where you press control shift NVDA t to turn translation on but it desn't read the readme or any kind of chinese text, I don't have the chinese keyboard installed, would that help?Any help would be apreciated.

Re: Getting rid of the V Virus

If it spreads by infecting Windows-critical files you can easily solve this by running under a local account only. The amount of people that turn off UAC and run admin accounts on Windows astounds me (I've even known IT guys to say "I always turn off UAC.")

@camlorn, That is a very good idea. If I had a dll that could bring 3d sound to bgt, I could make almost any game I want.

Re: Bloodbath released!

Moderation:Anica, consider this an official caution. That many posts essentially saying the same thing is borderline spam.A caution is not a punishment. It's just a heads-up saying that you ought to consider what you're doing. Hopefully even though you appear to have realized this in your last post, it did take someone else telling you. Essentially this is just a friendly reminder that a staff member has taken note of this. If you keep doing it, it may eventually necessitate a warning.

Though they both are sorted under the currency category, one is bought while the other is obtained. If you see any of the admins online, feel free to contact them with date of purchase, email address that purchased, as well as the character. This way, we can verify if it went, and in case it didn't give out the credits. And, it's not the store that was unstable, but that was when the inventory system was slightly unstable, wich has long been fixed.

Re: Getting rid of the V Virus

Admin accounts make sense to a degree; turning UAC off nowadays really doesn't.  Still, what @Munawar, post 11 says is true.  Honestly, unless you have need to run an admin account on a regular basis you probably shouldn't be, and for your average computer usage, you probably don't need to.I regularly run an admin account and always have, but when I know that others will be using a PC I also use or will need to run maintenance on, everyone else on that PC will be running local or guest accounts.

Re: A better way of handling gift requests?

2020-02-23 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Site and forum feedback : Trajectory via Audiogames-reflector

Re: A better way of handling gift requests?

When I did my fundraiser/ giveaway in November, I took a number of factors into account, including post count, length of membership, and most importantly conduct. A lot of the people I selected expressed surprise at having been selected. Why? Because they politely posted one request in one place and then just buggered off and let the chips fall where they may.I'd like to believe that I did right by those who supported me in that endeavour and that I did the best job I possibly could have given the situation. Obviously I can't guarantee a zero probability of having gifted a game to someone who did not really need it, but I believe I can safely say that I reduced that probability as much as it could possibly have been reduced considering the pool of candidates are coming from an anonymous forum. What I'm proposing is not trying to be a silver bullet for bad actors. It is rather a system of organizing the request/ response flow to make it more like a formal application process. Can someone post 50 topics asking for 50 different games? Of corse they can. But since they are all in one place, someone looking to choose someone can clearly identify that behaviour within a matter of seconds.

Re: legality reguarding eloquence.

It's also legal if you have an application with a *non-proprietary* Eloquence distribution. Right now, the only actively maintained commercial package that has a sapi4-usable Eloquence is Kurzweil1000. I can confirm the Eloquence in my copy of K1000 works in NVDA's IBM driver.Didn't know IBM Viavoice was still up for grabs, though it is still not an actively sold item. As such, being a clearance item there probably aren't much units left at all. It being discontinued, though, it has been released to the internet archive, which operates within legal boundaries.https://archive.org/details/IBMViaVoice … k/mode/2up

Re: An accessible way to read DC comics?

Hi,So, an accessible way to read DC is to not, and simply read the superior publisher of Marvel.Ahem, I mean...All joking aside, though I'm not joking about the superiority, I'll stop now, there are the old GraphicAudio stuff. I'm going to bet they'll do another Humble Bundle thing in a few years, but, if not, I'm not sure what to say short of piracy which, I'm not sure where that stands when they're discontinuing the stuff on their website. I'm not a lawyer so I have 0 idea.Try Comicstorian on Youtube. He does complete stories where he reads the comics back to you. Does Marvel, DC, and Image/Dynamite/Boom! Entertainment from time to time so, see what you can find there. If you haven't, though, expand into Marvel. I started out liking DC more, but I found the more 3d characters and deeper plots of Marvel to be a lot more riveting than "Oh, I'm the 300th most powerful being in the universe, but somehow I'm gonna beat everyone up without getting off my ass because this is DC and everyone is a god."I recognize the goodness DC has, like Roy Harper and Kyle Rayner, but why, tell me, WHY, for no reason, can Black Canary just shatter solid steel with her elbow? My point boils down to: Marvel: Not as powerful, way more character. DC: Overpowered, very little character.Excelsior!

Re: Return to the world of Manamon in Manamon 2: The Eternal Requiem

As of a couple weeks ago, Manamon 2 is flagged as a virus by Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender.I can use Microsoft Security Essentials with Manamon 2 if I tell it to ignore everything in the VGStorm program files directory. In Essentials settings, under excluded files and locations enter the following line and click add.C:\Program Files (x86)\VGStorm.comIt should work in Windows Defender as well. If you installed Manamon 2 in a different place copy the address from the address bar in the place where you installed Manamon 2.I haven't checked to see if Manamon 2 was unblocked yet, because I don't wanna have to reinstall it.
