@Dino - speaking as the guy that added cooking to Alter Aeon, it is not precisely what you're looking for. Food serves to restore health and stamina, and some flavors have minor curative powers, such as reducing the amount you are poisoned. There is some skill involved in getting things cooked ans seasoned right, but you are not filling orders.Though I suppose one could, theoretically, rent a shop and stock it with nothing but food you cook...

Morpheus and I have plans to unify the quest lines around Ralnoth this year, with a longer-term goal of having quests reaching out across Khal'Uktar and linking up with Don Milano's quest hub in Nueva Grenada. Don Milano quests send people out to diverse areas on the mainland, and will lead people towards Daigaku-Tatami, Avalon, the Naginag Combine and the outskirts of the Dunn Hurr.The biggest obstacle is Ralnoth itself. It is old: one of the oldest areas in the game. It has received multiple expansions and updates over the years, with layers of polish from various people, with not much coordination until the past few years. It is also gigantic, yet at the same time fairly empty, at least as far as mobs wandering the streets. Nevertheless, we are confident we can more strongly link my Blue Mound/Black Rot quest lines with the greater story of the Rubicon Principality's fall to Chaos and the threats now facing Ralnoth and nearby Wallachia.We recently re-leveled areas around Ralnoth in preparation for setting up the quests in a coherent chain. Expect a bridge quest of some sort leading from Dragon Tooth to Ralnoth in the near future.

For the record, Alter Aeon never had rent where you had to pay gold or lose your equipment. However, you used to log in buck naked! You had to get dressed each time, which is why there is "The dressing room" directly west of The Unholy Temple of Dentin waypoint.

Necromancer and Mage both use intelligence and wisdom as their primary stats, so they have excellent stat synergy.  Clerics need charisma for their spellcasting, so a Necro-Cleric has to train all three mental stats to stay effective as a caster.

If we implemented payment for area completion on Alter Aeon, Dentin would owe me back pay of tens of thousands of credits!More seriously, as a builder on Alter Aeon (Draak), it is a bit annoying to see a new builder suggest being compensated for work I've been doing as a volunteer for decades.  For me building is a labor of love, and that is motivation enough. Please understand if the suggestion of receiving credits rankled us a bit. I've watched dozens of builders fizzle out over the years, and it is often the kiss of death for them playing as well. Perhaps seeing the proverbial "man behind the curtain" sours the experience for them, or they don't find sufficient support to learn the syntax and dozens of commands that it takes to build, or they simply lacked the aptitude and attention span for building. I doubt a few bucks worth of credits is enough of a carrot to dangle in front of people if they aren't cut out for the grueling, time-consuming task of building.I probably have a very biased viewpoint as a "survivor" from back when builders built on a separate copy of the game called the builder's port.  Training was generally a 5 minute tutorial from Vember.  The wizhelp pages were much scantier and, due to the isolation, we often had no one to ask for help and might have to wait days to weeks for answers to questions, help, area checks, implementation and new racks.  There are now building teams, a building system that is vastly more automated than it once was, and the wizhelp pages are much more fleshed out, plus there are building FAQs as well.In other news, Dentin has been hammering out system for measuring builder activity, and has given a few promotions to builders that meet certain criteria. I believe these are mostly cosmetic - I am not sure what his long-term plans are.

To clear up any misconceptions: Alter Aeon is not a DikuMUD, nor was it based on any other codebase. Dentin created it himself. He emulated a lot of familiar Diku features because the MUD he used to play, Hidden Worlds, used the Merc codebase, which was derived from Diku.  When Hidden Worlds went offline, Dentin missed it.  He decided to make his own MUD, incorporating features he enjoyed from Hidden Worlds.

Yes. Alter Aeon uses MSP (Mud Sound Protocol). Any client that can accept MSP will receive these sounds.I know one of the current mush-z developers made an option to turn on MSP input, but I think it only works for events that don't currently have a sound in mush-z. Don't quote me on that, though.FYI I am Draak, the developer of AA's MSP sounds and code hooks, so if you have any requests, feel free to bounce them off me in the game.EDIT: We don't currently have ambient sound/music, but its a feature we plan on adding to our MSP pack in the future.

Draak here. Just to give you guys a heads up:We are aware of the problems with areas and quest progression on Archais and the transition to the mainland. Morpheus and Dentin are both working on smoothing out the level progression on Archais, and Morpheus is currently working on direct quest linkage between Dragon Tooth and Ralnoth. From there, Ralnoth is a hub that can take you into Wallachia, Khal-Uktar, Nueva Grenada and beyond. We'll gradually shore up the story lines, but Ralnoth can be overwhelming, as it is nearly three time the size of the largest city on the Westering Isles. With year-end events over, we'll be able to devote more attention to these details.Regarding high level groups being a required, I personally have been converting outlying group exp zones into autoleveling base solo zones (that is to say, the base strength of the zone is calibrated for a solo character, but it will adjust the level and power of the mobs to match the size and levels of any player or group that enters it). There will always be areas in intended for groups, but there are plenty of solo zones and base solo zones on the high end, too, and more in production.
