Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone

One thing to consider regarding the server being down, is the weather in the States right now is not just bad, but deadly.  Somewhere between 15 and 20 people died yesterday from the storms.  I'm not sure what part of the country Aprone is in, but I believe he's in the central time zone which is where all the worst storms were.  Hopefully he and his family are okay.  Now as for his apparent absence over the past few weeks, can you really blame him?  This game has consumed his time and evergy ever since he launched it as a lark.  Add to that all the hassle with cheaters, hackers, and whiners, and you have to ask yourself doesn't he deserve a break?Grinder

Hi Folks, It's time for most of us to start renewing our gamer accounts, and since I just screwed up my renewal I wanted to warn you about the mistake I made.  What you want to do is click the link that says "Here", under either of the headings that talk about renewing or adding months to your account.  What I did was to click on the button that opens a new account.  When I got the confirmation email and tried to reregister it said my gamer account name was unavailable.  Now I have to either create a new account and port my characters over, or wait for Aprone to fix it for me.  This is just a word to the wise.  Make sure you click on the link in one of the sections concerned with adding time, rather than whatever I clicked on in my eagerness to reregister.

Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone

Okay.  I was talking to another player, and he told me how to recreate the bug that killed me.  More importantly, the two of us figured out how to get out of it.  If you fire a weapon, and while holding the fire button, press the slash key to talk on the radio, then lift off all keys, you will continue to fire your weapon, even after it's empty.  I doubt I did this when Grinder died, because I would have had my left thumb on the spacebar, which is my fire key, and my right hand on the mouse.  But all that aside, the way to get out of this trap is to press the enter key, the slash, and your fire button consecutively, not all at once.  This should stop you from firing, and allow you to either reload, or to bring up another weapon.  Hth.

Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone

My character Grinder just died from a bug in a mission.  I was firing the ACR with suppressor on.  When it reached the end of the clip, it kept dry firing, so that I could neither reload, nor switch weapons.  I was on the catwalk in the big house with my back to the half wall, and tried to run for the truck to abandon, but got swarmed along the way.  Grinder was loaded up with tons of armor, weapons, and ammo.  It's a shame to lose all that good stuff from a bug.In talking to other players, some have seen this bug while others haven't.  It hit me once or twice before, but this was the first time it was fatal.  Has anyone else encountered this? where your weapon keeps firing on empty?

Is the server off line?  I wasn't sure if it was that, or something wrong with my account.  Usually there are messages here when the server goes down.HoDor HoDor HoDor

Re: Swamp, zombie fps by Aprone

Here are some of my thoughts regarding the update to HC.  First of all, I like the new higher levels of loot, it was just too scarce in the past and drove people away.  I've never liked the PVP aspect of the forts.  Can we agree to just drop that, or possibly make it optional, so you could opt into PVP if your clan wished to.  The current best thing about forts is getting healed there, and having broken items get repaired, if you're lucky enough to be in a clan.  Perhaps we could keep the clan idea, but have one public fort on each main map.  In these public forts any HC could get healed for free, just as if it were a clan fort, and they could also leave items to be repaired, but only the character who dropped the item for repair could claim it again.  If he or she dies before the item is repaired, it disappears.  A place to dump unwanted items is desperately needed.  Our inventory gets bloated with all kinds of useless stuff,
with no way to delete it.  Finally, some system where we could trade food for items would be awesome.  I don't think any HC's have enough 30 caliber ammo, or med kits for that matter.  I like the seige mission, perhaps it could be made into an HC only mission where we try to retake a fort captured by raiders.  So far, I'm not clear how clans would work into this scheme.  Maybe use them only for folks who want the PVP action, the rest of us can use the public forts.  As always, thanks Aprone for all the hard work and creativity.Grinder / WolfgangURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=175500#p175500
