Sure, society tends to put a huge negative spin on blindness and disability in general, but here's how I see it. We  have a choice on how we look at our situation. Sure we can sit at home and feel sorry for ourselves (I have actually met, or heard about, a number of blind people with that mentality,) or we can choose to accept our situation and make the best of it. That is what I have done, and I can honestly say that I am happy with my life.  as it is. As I said in my previous post, I believe that this, me being blind, is all part of the Lord's plan for my life, and I know that all things happen for a reason.So, we can wish for what we don't have, or we can rejoice in what we do have. But the fact remains, we, have, a, choice. No one is forcing you to feel the way you do about your situation, what ever it may be, the choice is yours. Every day you can choose to be happy about a situation, just as you can make the choice to be angry, or sad, or frustrated about another situation. I believe if we change our attitudes, then our entire mind set will change. I have seen it time and time again.But again, that is just my opinion. Feel free to disagree with me by all means.

No, I would not restore my vision. My reason: Only God knows why He made me blind, and I know that He has a plan for my life, so I can rest in the knowledge that everything will happen according to His will for me.(Romans  8:28. He made me blind for a reason, and even though I don't know the reason why, I know that it is a good reason, if that makes sense.

Well, let's see. My voice is my main instrument, and yes, contrary  to popular beleaf, the voice is clasified as an instrument. I can also play the recorder and a type of drum we called a Jembe. I want to learn to play the guitar and the trumpet.

Okay folks. I can't say that I know exactly what he is going through, but I know how hard it can be to stay away from websites, especially if you know that you have to stay away from them. I know that his problem might not be the same, but to give what I just said a bit of context, I have to tell you all about a bit of my past, so bare with me, I have struggled for a number of years now with a pornography addiction. as I said, I know how hard it is to stay away from certain websites, in my case YouTube, and a few others I can't and won't name here. Every day I told myself that I wouldn't go on to these websites, but I found myself doing it anyway. Even an website blocker couldn't stop me from visiting these sites. I would always find a way around it. Luckily, by the grace of God, literally, I am doing a lot better now, and also have taken to blocking my sites with the hosts file. I just make sure to change the open with location in notepad when I am done, lest I get tempted to go and unblock a site. I even went so far as to disable microsoft edge on my laptop. So I don't know what he is going thrugh, but I can identify with one of his struggles. And another thing, I did some other things in my life that I am not proud of and won't go into here, but they hurt a number of people. Time and again I promised to change my behavior but would then do the same things again. Eventually the person I hurt most, who was also the person I loved and still love most, felt like some of you do about this post. She also said that she couldn't trust me anymore because of me continuing to brake my promise to change. The long and short of it is that we didn't speak for several years, but at the end of last year I convinced her to give our friendship another chance, and I thank God for her every day. She has very quickly become one of the most important people in my life.So who knows, maybe this time Rory really wants to change. Maybe he is trying to fight his battle with a will to win this time. Let's rather support him instead of condemning  him. Another thing you don't know about me is that I am a Christian, so I am a ferm believer in forgiveness. So I say let's help him the best we can instead of judging him on his past actions.

I am also using the T480 and have not had any problems. What I love about this Laptop is the fact that it has a toutchpad and a trackpad, which makes things a lot easier.

@11: My problem got solved. Seams like I had the 32 bit version installed on my 64 bit system. I installed the correct version last night, and so far it seams to be working fine. That will teach me to check the version next tioe before installing. Lesson learned.

I love bookwurm, accept for one miner issue. It opens fine, it reads the books fine, but when I'm done, I have to go close it in task mannager. Alt+F4 doesn't do anything, neither does the exit option in the menu.

Here's my take on things. Sure, jaws is expensive, but so are a lot of other things. For example, I considered buying the Apex Braille Note touch, that was until I saw the price. Here in South frica they charge you almost R10 for one of those. So  I decided that I can't afford it and therefore I am now looking for a cheaper alternative. It's the same with jaws, the fact that some people can't afford it doesn't make it a bad product. I could easily have created a topic on here and started bashing the Apex, but I didn't, because despite it's price, it is a great product. And so is Jaws. As for Jaws Vs. NVDA, i have found that using them in tandem gives me the best results. There are some things that Jaws can do better than NVDA, and vice versa. For example, when I use Word, I use Jaws most of the time, but when I run Whats’app for Pc, I use NVDA. What I am trying to say in a very long and roundabout way, is that we shouldn't let the price of a product influence our views on it's effectiveness.

My coffee motto: The stronger the better. I love all types of coffees  and flavors, just as long as it's strong enough to float a horseshoe. Here in South Africa we have a brand called NesCafe (not sure if it's available world wide or not,) but they make an excellent Brazilian blend. They also have an ethiopian blend that I've heard is quite good too, but I haven't tried it yet. Also I am right there with Dark on the use of the French Press.

I always, always recommend Sennheiser. It's the only brand I use when it comes to headphones. They have all the qualities you are looking for. Studio grade, comfortable and great frequency response. I often wear mine for long periods of time without any problems. I use them to edit songs I record, also without any problem. So in my opinion Sennheiser is the way to go.

Hi. I think it is system specific, because I had the same problem on skype and Discord. I also found that while on a call, if I changed my output device in NVDA settings, it solves the problem temporarily.

I have encountered a small   problem when I watch a video / movie with subtitles enabled. Overall it reads the subtitles quite well,  but there are times where it would skip  a sentence or phrase. The words are still displayed on the screen, but Lion doesn't read them. Other than that, I absolutely love this addon.

@RTT entertainment: As far as I know President Ramaphosa said that we would be on lockdown from midnight on Thursday, meaning businesses will be closed from Friday, although I live in the Johannesburg area, and I have noticed that some businesses have already closed their doors. As for your problem, I agree with Jayde. Compromise is the best solution. I am slowly getting back in to exercising, and I have to say that I feel much better after a good hard run on the treadmill. As for what to do during the lockdown? Just plug a pare of headphones in to your computer, that way you can watch your movies or read your books without bothering anyone, and you don't have to be bothered by what ever your brother is listening to at the time. @#22: It is true that Africa has a lot of cultures and a lot of languages. I have done some research on this as someone who is greatly interested in the fields of history and archaeology. Some of what I have read is quite fascinating. But I digress. We here in South Africa have 11 official languages with sign language as the 12th [I am not sure if we use ASL or some other version of sign language] but it is recognised as an official language none the less. Of the 11/12 languages we have, I am fluent in 2 [Afrikaans and English] and I am semi fluent in 2 [Zulu and Xhosa] and I am currently in the process of finding someone to teach me Tswana. Just for those who are interested our official languages are: Afrikaans, English, Isizulu, Isixhosa, Sisotho, Sitswana, Siphedi, [a northern dialect of Sisotho] Venda, Tsonga, Swati and Ndebele. I never attended a mainstream school, so I can't realy relate to your situation, but I will say this, keep your head up, stay confident even when it's hard, especially when it's hard. Your time to shine will come. As for the friends in school thing, I have to disagree with Nocturnus and what he said in his first post. I actually met my best friend on my first day in first grade, and we have been friends for almost 17 years now. He stuck with me when I made some bad choices and everyone else deserted me. I will forever be thankful to him for that, but I digress. The point I'm trying to make is that I believe that there is a best friend out there for everyone; that one person who understands you like no one else does. I was just fortunate to find mine early in life. Hang in there, your besty will come along at just the right time.

Don't even get me started on netflix on android. On IOS it was semi useable what with you being able to double tap the screen to regain focus , but on android it is just plain frustrating. The only way I can "pause" a show is to lock my screen, and other than that I can't do much inside the video player. So yeah, I hope this gets fixed soon.

Please generously allow me to put in my two cents worth. 1: It might have semed like a good idea on paper to create a website like the any audio network, but, and I say this with all due respect, it wasn't a well thought out plan. Firstly, the name speakes for itself, the any audio network, "take note of any audio" This means that people could post anything on there. And secondly, the website didn't have any rules or any form of moderation that I know of, witch meant that there was no control of what was put on the site. That in turn meant that people would inevitably post things on there that normaly wouldn't be allowed or condoned on any other simular platform.My conclusion? Though the any audio network was unique in its style, it was in my humble opinion prematurely released to the public without a plan to monitor the content and without any dedication to the removal/banning of harmful content. If such measures were to be implemented I am sure that the any audio network could thrive, but until such time it is best avoided.

That was one of the best south african films I have ever seen, after invictus of course. As for my favorite scene, it has to be the stick fighting scene. As for the unsubtitled words, I can't make everything out since the pronunciations of the achters are not that clear, but from what I can make out it is a warrier's challange and answer used by the traditional Zulu people.

@zakc93 You won't find Game of Thrones on Netflix, because they aren't Licenced to stream any HBO content. Just to switch topics for a moment: one thing that Netflix has done recently that I like is that they seam to be adding some South African content as well, but as for HBO content, I don't think we'll see that on Netflix anytime soon.

So it turns out that the problem was with the Kindle for PC app. It seams that the latest version of the app makes it a lot more difficult to convert the Kindle books, but since I have downgraded to version 1.17 of the app it's been smooth sailing.I would also like to take the time to thank everyone for your responses. Now this is a topic right up my alley since I love anything that has anything to do with music, especially Country and Folk music.I have often found that most songs have both clear as well as hidden meanings. You just have to listen, and I mean really listen, not just to the rhythm and the lyrix, but listen to what is actually being said and how words are being phrased. It is amazing what can be interpreted from one single song.

I have downloaded Epubar, but I can't quite figure out exactly how to use it. I manage to add my book witch I want to convert, but before I can hit the convert button I somehow land in a table with three cells witch only displays the name of the book and nothing else. Pleas help.

Having trouble converting kindle books to epub

Hi everyone.As the subject line states I am having trouble converting kindle books to epub. I used Codex document converter, but for some reason it is very selective of witch kindle books it wants to convert. I don't know if this is some new securety feature by Amazon or if it has something to do with the latest virsion of the kindle app, or it could also have something to do with the latest update of Codex. But that's beside the point. The point is I need to find a new and surefire way to convert those Kindle books to epub. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have just finnished watching Star Trek TNG for the 7th time, yes I am counting. Currently I am watching season 3 of DS9 on netflics. I have also resantly started watching a Canadian series called Heartland.Its basicaly about a girl who rehabillitates horses. That's all I can say without a spoiler alert. Now, back to Star Trek: I love The Next Generation and DS9. Enterprise was also alright, however I wouldn't recommend Voyager. It just didn't have the same appeal as the rest of the Star Trek series. And another thing: I wish someone would go ahead and discribe Tng and DS9.Oh and just fyi, Game of Thrones is seriously awesom. I can't wait to see just how it all ends.

Hi. I live in the beautiful country of South Africa. With its rolling grasslands to the east and the barrin Karoo to the north ant the coastline stretching from west to east for as far as the eye can see, it truely is a beautiful place to live in. Oh, and don't forget the diverse wildlife and cultures that we have on offer.And when I say diverse culture, I really mean diverse. We have 11 national languages with universal sign language having also beeng recognised a few years ago. Just fyi for those who aren't good with math, that makes 12.Where I live:I live about 15 miles from the sprauling city of Johannesburg, Yes the very city where all those people came to dig for gold in the late 19th century, although it is alot vigger and more polluted now.and lastely, how can one mention South Africa without mentioning Rugby and biltong. If you don't know what biltong is, the Americans have perfected there own version witch they call jurkey, and if you don't know what that is, i'm sure Google will be willing to help you out, provided you ask nicely of course.And that ladies and gentleman is where I live.Who's next?
