Talking about boot time or launch time for apps to open depends on so many things it is not worth discussing. Take it and know that it will be faster. I also don't recommend the new MBP keyboards. Sad as it is they don't seem to be as reliable as they should be. If you could use a bluetooth keyboard or use a desktop mac (MacMini or iMac), It should help delay the inevitable. I know that A desktop is more expensive, but depending on your workflow you might want that more. Yes you will probably not be mindlessly slogging through solving quadratic formulas or constructing geometric proofs to prove congruency on the job, but you completely misunderstand the point of math. I don't blame you, this is more of a failing of the education system rather than your personal short comings. Teachers power through the content and don't explain the why. I am not talking about the why as in why is the quadratic formula useful or why does this obscure geometric formula actually work. Most of those questions will be answered later in upper level math classes like calculus and may not even be appropriate for high school level geometry or algebra.The why as in why does this matter is the bigger question. Math is problem solving. Not just the 30 quadratic formulas you just did on your homework, but general problem solving. You take a set of rules and concepts and apply it to a specific scenario and an answer pops out. math teaches you to brake a problem down into bitesized consumable pieces. You then use logical thinking to assemble those pieces into a solution that conforms to your universe. This isn't quite so obvious because so much of math is plug this and that into a formula, case in point the quadratic formula. It becomes more apparent in upper level calculus courses, geometry, and parts of algebra and trig when there are multiple ways to solve a problem. You have to try out a few ways and not be afraid to start over if one of them fails. Math is a way of thinking. It isn't playing letter and number games all day long to brake your spirit. Annoying yes, but trivial to brake especially if you know the way to untangle my dirty work. the key here is the 1-to-1 mapping of letters to numbers. this is the same way you can right letters as binary values, hex values, or octal values; the text is still there, it is just in a different form. On a side note, people say a lot of times to me that braille seems like a different language. I have never agreed with them, but now I think I know how to answer them. It is an encoding. there are more advanced levels of encoding that aren't quite so trivial and they boarder more on the level of encryption.Encryption on the other hand takes the plane text and runs it through many algorithms of hashing, modular math, and exponentiation. the key is the password. that password drives the encryption algorithm and gives you the output of gibberish. you can not reverse the encryption without the password. in encryption I can not say that a = 1 or b = 2. a good encryption algorithm needs to use more entropy than that. I believe that w1 chip is mainly there to facilitate the quick switching amongst devices and getting connected quickly. They may do some apple magic in the w1 chip to support bt4 and more functionality, but at the end of the day its still bt4. apple has not created their own brand of bluetooth, they've only created a custom chip that uses bluetooth. At that point though, i will probably ditch my 6s+ and go with airpods and an 8+.bluetooth 5 has 4 times the range and 2 time the bandwidth, so hopefully will wil get lower latency and better throughput. Re: Life skills being failed by the tasc test and common core cea jones just about hit the American system on the head. just to summarize and fill in a few points.an associates degree is usually 2 years at most and usually gotten at community college. it focuses on general studies. even if you go to a 4 year university you will have to take general education courses anyway. the pull for people to do their gen eds, as they are refirred to, at a community college instead of doing them along side other classes at at 4 year university is the community college is much less expensive than a 4 year university. and can be more flexible on the schedule if you were a parent or working part or full time along with going to school.a bachelors degree is usually 4 years at an accredited 4 year university. this is what is called a major. as cea jones said is split up into arts or science. the difference is that a bachelors of arts does not require a science with a lab, e.g. meteorology. where a bachelors of science does, e.g. chemis try, biology, or physics. a bachelors is considered undergraduate studies or an undergraduate degree.a masters is another 2-3 years on top of a bachelors. this is considered graduate studies or grad school. it doesn't have to specifically be what you studied as an under grad, but a masters is supposed to build and add knowledge and understanding to your bachelors degree.finally a PHD is a doctorate. and depends so heavily on many factors i can't detail many of its aspects.most american schools start out in elementary school. Kindergarden at age 5 and ending with 5th grade at age 11. middle school is grades 6-8 and tipically have ages 11-14. high school is grades 9-12 with ages 14-18. variations of grouping different grades together exist, but this is the more common approach. once you complete 12th grade you are said to have graduated high school and will then get your high school diploma. if you do not graduate from high school you can get the GED as people have previously talked about.
