I love this combination, so I can take the best from both worlds, even at the same time, because Windows just runs in the background like any other application. So no need to restart the computer and boot up into Windows. Hi.It's quite interesting that people are having different experiences on using the Braille Note Touch Plus.Would someone give me the exact instructions on how to launch A Blind Legend and make it work on the device?Maybe the machine I'm having access to at the moment is having some hardware issues, but the Bluetooth connection, both with an iPhone and a Mac computer is extremely unstable. Especially when trying to switch between the devices. You can't power off the unit and just reconnect, or close the terminal app. If you do that, you have to pair the devices again. The pairing process is extremely difficult.Then, don't make me start on the issues in Keyword. It's running exactly like I described. It is currently on my desk next to me.Regarding the Braille Note Touch 18: This is exactly the same size of the BLT 32. It is exactly the same case, but the Braille display is just smaller. All other products which have smaller Braille displays are put into smaller cases.Regarding Keysoft:If you wanna run Android apps which are self voiced or which for some other reasons require you to turn off the accessibility screenreader:You can easily turn off Keysoft. No problem. But when you do that, you are thrown to the Android home screen. That means, if you, for example, launch A Blind Legend and turn off Keysoft, then the app is closed and you need sighted help to launch the game again.I'm not sure if it's possible to run Talkback on the BLT. Compare it with the Polaris instead.1. The Braille NOte Touch have a lot of Bluetooth issues. The Braille terminal keeps dropping the connection, and it won't reconnect again automatically. Then you have to pair the bluetooth device again.2. Pairing Bluetooth devices is just too difficult, and my experience is that it works 2 out of 10 times. If you aren't quick enough to click on the notification, then you're screwed.3. When navigating texts in the text editor, the cursor doesn't seem to follow the focus. I haven't found any explanation on this in the usersguide.4. The Braille Note Touch does not make a blank display by default when making a new line in the text editor. There is a workaround, but the userguide does not explain that very well in my opinion, if that's even explained at all.So. I cannot recommend the Braille Note Touch at all, but that's just my opinion. It seems like if the language is set to an other language than English, then the accessibility settings simply disappears. I have searched on any ways to turn on the screenreader without sighted help, but I haven't found any information on that yet. So it's difficult to recommend those tv's in my opinion.The Samsung Smart tv's, from series 6 and newer, have their own screenreader build in, and you can turn on the screenreader without sighted help. The screenreader supports a lot of different languages. I don't know if Samsung have put out a public list of languages somewhere.The Samsung tv's are the best tv's I ever have seen regarding to accessibility, and they are available in most countries world wide. Hi @brad.Before you completely make your decision, I'll tell you some of the great things you'll get out of an Apple Watch.You can set the watch face to show how many steps you have taken, and you can very quickly check your activity.You can also check that on the phone, but it's easier on the watch. Keep in mind that the watch is better to detect your activities, since you are wearing it on your wrist, and not having it in the pocket like the phone.Regarding keeping track on your weight, I'll highly recommend you the Qardio base 2 scale. It is a mainstream scale which is fully accessible via an app on the phone. They have also made the app for the watch, but I haven't checked that out yet. The app is synced with the Health system on your phone, and you can always check your previous results. You can set up goals in the app, but I haven't tried that yet, so I can't say if it's accessible or not.Other daily uses of the Apple Watch:I'm the kind of person who likes my devices to be silent, because I'm traveling a lot with public transportations and are in public places with other people. When I walk outside, then I never miss any calls, because I have set my watch to vibrate like crazy when my phone rings. The same goes for text messages.I have configured my watch so it's only the important notifications which is displayed on my watch, and other less important notifications comes on my phone. That's a great way of keeping things less stressful in my opinion.Then, I really like the haptic time, where you can check the time via vibrations, so you don't disturb other people. I also like that you can adjust the volume of Voiceover, unlike most other talking watches.When Watch OS 7 comes, the accessibility in Voiceover will finally get a ton of improvements which I look very much forward to. I was giving up on the Apple watch because, compared to the other Apple products, Voiceover was extremely limited. In Watch OS 7, we'll get a rotor in Voiceover and Braille support for defblind people. Especially the rotor will make a huge difference for me. So I'll upgrade from my current Apple Watch second gen to the new 5 gen in the near future.Yes, the Apple watch is limited in many ways, and you can't get all your apps and functions from the phone on the watch. But I still find the watch very useful, especially when Watch OS 7 get released.It's pretty important to get the watch set up to your needs. I haven't seen that on my old Samsung phone, but they might have changed the setup screen from the defaults.I'm glad to hear that you have been in contact with Nokia as well. It's just sad that they haven't fixed the shortcut, and it's sad that they couldn't assist me better, but just told me to set up the phone without Talkback and then turn it on from the accessibility settings. Sony's apps are not very accessible with Talkback, and they don't care about accessibility when it comes to their tv. I experienced that my tv got more and more inaccessible for every update I installed, and other blind people experienced the same thing. We contacted Sony about it, but they never improved it.Later, the motherboard went poof, and got damaged because of overheat. I then chose a Samsung smart tv on the warranty, and this tv is totally amazing when it comes to accessibility. This is the most accessible mainstream tv you'll ever get. All build in features are fully accessible, including the setup screen. Even the build in user guide is accessible, and explains things in an accessible way. My experience with Android Go edition Hi.I wanna share my experience with a device running Android Go edition.I read about the cheep Nokia phones, which runs Android Go edition, which is a light version of Android, made for cheep Android devices.Before I made my purchase, I did a ton of research. I read a lot of reviews of Android Go. I did a lot of phone comparisons, and I even looked in the manual of the phone I was interested in buying.All the reviews and demos I found on Youtube mentioned that Android Go edition can run native Android apps. Some of the apps runs slow, but they work. that's what I got out of the reviews I found.I contacted Nokia, and asked them specific about Talkback on the Nokia 1.3 phone which I wish to buy. I asked them if Talkback would work on this phone, and I asked them about the software on the phone.I got a very clear answer saying the following:Talkback should work on this phone. Nokia does not have any resources to make their own software, so for this reason, their phones are running stuck Android.I got quite excited and went ahead and bought a Nokia 1.3 phone.When I received the package, I unpacked the phone with great excitement. The phone is cheep and very poor quality, so it was unbelievably difficult to open up the phone to put in the battery. I don't ly, you seriously have to brake open, force open the phone. I was very afraid to brake the plastic cabinet, but I managed to do it.I turned on the phone, and after a while, the Nokia logo sound was heard. Wow, quite amazing for sure.Then, it was time to turn on Talkback on the setup screen.I followed Googles instructions on the following site:https://support.google.com/accessibilit … 7100?hl=enI had no sighted assistance, so I tried to hold both volume keys at the same time to start Talkback. Nothing happened, at all.I then tried to hold two fingers on the screen. Same result. Nothing happened, at all.I launched Seeing AI on my iPhone to check the screen on the phone. It seemed like I had to select my language on the setup screen.I made a video call to one of my family members to get some help. She could confirm that the phone was on the setup screen, and I had to select the language. But, Talkback would not start at all, no matter what I did.Going through the whole setup process by using the video call as my only assistant was simply not an option for me. That would be way too complex.I opened up my email ticket to Nokia where I previously asked them specifically about Talkback. I told them about my issue and asked them what to do about it.First they even don't understood my situation, and simply asked me to turn on Talkback in the accessibility settings after having gone through the setup screen. After a while, they finally understood my situation and the problem I was having. They contacted Google about the issue.Google replied back to Nokia, that Talkback is simply not a part of Android Go edition, which is the whole reason for my problem.When looking at Googles support page for Talkback, they do not mention Android Go edition one single time. I haven't been able to find any other resources telling that Talkback is not included in Android Go edition.I felt extremely frustrated, especially with Nokia and their cheep peace of shit, but also with Google, for not announcing to the public, that Talkback is not included in Android Go edition.I then returned this crappy phone as fast as possible and got my money back.If Google ever wanna take accessibility seriously, then they need to announce things like that to the public. How should I have known that before making my purchase? How should I have made my research better to avoid this situation?I really hope someone is able to pass this information to the right people at Google accessibility. This motherboard came with some quite inaccessible software, where you could change a lot of the Bios settings in Windows, and then restart the computer to change the settings.20 years ago, I heard about some motherboards which had a talking chip which speaks out any error statuses on the motherboard, but I haven't seen those in action.One of the good things about having switched to Mac computers is that I never have to care about the bios, because there is no bios at all. All settings can be changed either from the operating system, or from the recovery system. That's a big priority for me since I live alone, and have very limited access to sighted assistance. However, keep in mind that a Braille display is more difficult to use on an iPad because of the split screen.As you might have read in the usersguide, the Orbit Writer does also have keyboard emulation which emulates a normal keyboard like if you connect an external keyboard to the device. But I'm willing to go into details privately for those who wanna know more.I grew up in a nice and very open minded family. No one knew people closely who are gay, me included. I knew one guy, but at that time, I didn't knew him good enough to ask him any questions about it. People around me didn't really talked about people who are gay. If they did, then it wasn't nice words. I learned much later in life that it was simply because people didn't knew better. Not because people had something against people who are gay, they didn't knew anyone, but simply because they didn't knew what to say about it. So they just said what they had heard from others.Those negative reactions around me made me think that it was wrong to be gay. I had my bad opinions about many things. I simply didn't knew better...I started to realize that I didn't got attracted to females. First I thought it was just a matter of finding the right girl, but no. It was like: People were nice and very friendly, but no attraction at all.I also started to realize that I got attracted to males instead. That feeling wouldn't go away, no matter if I liked it or not. It was no choice at all. As I didn't knew anyone who was gay, then I still thought it was wrong. Therefore, I was afraid to talk about it. I even tried to hide all this from myself, like I couldn't even say to myself that I am gay. Things just happened, and I was not able to control it in any ways.After I moved to my own place, then I could finally do something about it. I created a profile on a dating site for people who are gay, and started to meet some really nice and friendly guys. I won't go into details here, but I tell you it was, and still is paradise. Why? Because I finally met people who was equal to me. People who got attracted to men, like me. For a while, I had the feeling that I was the only one. I just had to realize and understand, that I'm not the only one who gets attracted to men, which I realized by meeting guys through the dating site. I didn't knew anyone I could ask about all the strange questions I had. Therefore, I had to learn and experience everything on my own. It was tough, extremely tough as blind. People with normal sight can just see some pictures, watch movies, tv shows etc. if they need any details which people don't normally talk about. There are even a lot of things which there aren't any words to describe. There are things which you either have to see with your eyes to understand, or to feel or experience on your own as blind to understand. One example is what people looks like, and how different people look. Many blind people might say we don't care that much, but its still important to know even when we can't see the difference, because we can learn a lot from that. I was forced to start from scratch and learn everything on my own, simply because I didn't knew anyone to ask, yet the simplest questions.Later on, I started to join parties in the gay community, and meet people in real life. People were so nice. Much nicer than if I joined normal parties for everyone. I really started to feel included, and it didn't really mattered that I'm blind. This community was really what opened the doors for me. I met so many nice and friendly guys. Asked them a ton of questions, started to feel and understand that it is okay to be gay, started to see many things from lots of different perspectives etc. because of all the awesome people I met.Everything was close to be perfect, but there was still missing one important thing for me: I was the only blind guy I knew who were gay. Everyone I knew was sighted. There are things which people don't normally talk about because they see it, so there is not the need for talking about things which everyone just expect everyone knows because of a normal sight. Because of that, it was still quite a tough time for me, and I still felt a bit alone, because I was the only blind guy.Finally, the time came where I felt ready to tell friends and family that I'm gay.
