Inclusion the motto's brand new video, featuring @dardar aka Nathan!

Yep! Our long-time dev who's clearly been on fire lately coming up with new, innovative and helpful projects one after the other took time out from his busy schedule to come have a brief chat with me over on our channel! So feel free to check it out! I will give a link to the video at the bottom of this post but since I haven't really introduced myself and the channel on this forum before, I thought now would be good a time as any to get into that.So it goes without saying, this post might be slightly long. Strap on, People! If you wish to skip directly to the links feel free to use your screen reader's web navigation keys, although I would really appreciate it if you give this a red.So greetings all. My name is Aarush Bhat. I am from India -specifically Kashmir-, and am about to be 17 this year.I am a high school student, pursuing computer sciences. I've also been fascinated with the world of sound and music , and reading as well as writing fantasy stories has also been a long-time hobby of mine.I grew up in Delhi, so haven't really seen what is called the "heaven" of India as much as  I would like to, as unforeseen circumstances led to my family having to flee from Kashmir when my mom was only in 10th grade. I have always attended a mainstream school, which of course came with its own set of challenges. You see, our country isn't as technologically advanced and educated as we'd like it to be when it comes to people with, a slightly different set of  needs  although that is something which is changing fast and I am truly grateful about it, which meant that the challenges were intensified in terms of not being able to obtain accessible material and assistive technology. Due to this, there was a lot of struggle in my early years (most of all for my family) as I don't even think I was old enough to spell a three-letter word let alone big words such as that, to know what was going on. I won't go into too much detail right now, but it was a lot of fighting. I am for ever thankful to my family, especially my mother who kept fighting despite the odds. She took the discrimination, she took the insults but kept going. I managed to get a very good school though, with super cooperative teachers and a very kind principle. They helped me learn, taught me how to be independent and self reliant. Growing up I always had to prove myself though and so the struggles did not stop at all. Learning Braille, then managing to get hold of a computer as the financial situation of my family aren't amazingly awesome,  shifting completely to tech, trying to grasp the concepts as the studies began to get more and more complicated and advanced, for instance I remember a time when I was having difficulty understanding the human digestive system as the teacher had drawn a diagram demonstrating it. My mom then made a full  3d representation of that for me, and proceeded to make one for every other system that exists in our human body. I used to take those to school and show them to my teachers and they'd really get impressed, one even going so far as to calling the other students to me and explaining them with the help of that model as well. Anyway, my point is that the challenges went on as could be expected really, and there was this one thing that stuck with me.At first, I had no idea what it was. However, as the years passed and I started taking centre stage in trying to prove myself to my school, and the world in general I began to realize what it was. A strong, desire. A desire to do something. A desire to make this world more inclusive and open minded. To help educate and empower them about these challenges and their possible solutions so that the struggles I would go through wouldn't have to be gone through by anyone after me. Slowly but surely, this started to be my primary focus in whatever I did. I started to develop an interest in computer programming, and  tried to  keep the inclusion factor and benefit of others in mind with whatever I came up with, I started to write and develop other hobbies but always tried to make sure  that I never forgot what I intended to achieve in the end. About a year ago however, something began to gnaw at my head. A feeling, that I could do better in this regard. Something more, realistic and productive. The idea had been juggling around my brain for quite a while, but since I am naturally not an extrovert person(yes I am being completely honest here and have no hesitation saying that I am shy and not the most social person you could ever find on this Earth). I honestly wonder how that happened, my mom... well getting her to stop talking is a project of its own but anyway, since I've been very shy and kind of  in my own shell for most of my life I couldn't muster the courage to do it but with a bit of pushing from my family, not to mention several pep talks I decided to give it a shot, and started a you tube channel. This is why I like the approach I have taken towards this forum, or pretty much any other social media platform. It goes like this:When I feel up to looking at it, sometimes even step in and write a post or two(like right now) I am heavily involved. When I hit ctrl w, I have left the forum. Boom. Its just that simple, no attachment all involvement voluntary. There was a time when I did not have this level of self control but it comes to you after a while of practice, especially when all other aspects of life also pressurize you to master said skill to survive.Anyway, think I'm going to leave the forum now take care allPeace

Re: Accessibility in video games

Exactly. We got only one, and these people made an effort when many others didn't. That counts for something, and like connor said before; people have different levels and ways of enjoying a game, and that's what matters in the end, doesn't it? If a game isn't perfect in accessibility but people still have fun, fun that makes them jump when some crazy shit happens, fun that makes them hooked to the game, fun that makes them wanting more, then that's all that matters doesn't it? Enjoyment is the point of a game, it doesn't have to be perfect to be able to accomplish that, but like I said, some people may not like it that way. Some people may want a hundred percent accessibility and inclusiveness and that is perfectly fine, but that doesn't mean that the game in general isn't up to the standards, it may not be according to you, but people are still having their fun with it, and if that's the case then I dare say that the company did a good enough job at least for a first, and I am extremely thankful to the work put in by them. Most of those features are optional like someone mentioned before and it doesn't necessarily make the game super easy to do either, ratking anyone? Indeed they have done a better job than many audio games have, where either the games are too complicated making the gamer want to rage quit entirely due to the mere complexity in the mechanics or simply so easy that there is no challenge offered what so ever.

Wheel of randomness!

2020-10-28 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : the godfather via Audiogames-reflector

Wheel of randomness!

Long, long ago. In a far away land  known at that time, as randomania, there lived a king called randomraja. cliche. Let's try that againDear reader. It is with a very heavy heart that just randomly decided to be heavy, i must inform you that...Right. right. Let's stop that, shall we?Welcome to the wheel of randomness! Fulfilling your randomish desires since, uh well, whenever you download it i guess?Jokes apart I dare say in these trying times all of us could us e abit of randomness in our lives, isn't it.So what is this thing, exactly?Taken directly from the readme:Note: This is a bit of a long red, so keep your seet belts on.Welcome to the wheel of randomness!1. what in the name of fried blast-ended scrutes is this thing, anyway?Well, for those who were there for liam's laborday marathon, that's pritty much what inspired me.As common with his marathons, at every $100 he would do an extra hour of gameplay. However, he added something new and rather hilarious this year. Whenever he'd reach $75 via donations, superchats, etc he would drink a cup of hot saus. He had marked the cups, and what was inside them and put it through a random generator that he called "the wheel of pain" which would pick one for him. This is basically what I intended to make, and fortunately succeeded in doing so-however, after the inputs of my great ausumn beta testers, its become much more than that!2. How does this thing work?First thing's first-this is a commandline based program. I could do a gui one at some point, but i dont know if that's wirth it. Its a fairly simplistic thing and was made just for fun and randomness's sake, but let me  know if you guys would like a proper user interface anyway. The program should give you most if not all, of the instructions but here i'll lay them out for you regardless.2.1. structureAt first, i had just one file for the title and the picker(I'll explain those in a moment), but then somebody said that it gets very clutterred, and suggested a feature to allow them to pick from multiple places. The reason being that if they make this big list of things they wouldn't want to remove it and make a new one all over again. So, in the program's main folder you'll find a folder called randomness and that's what you need to deal with. Here's how this works:2.1. Text onlyIn the randomness folder, you make a folder called game, cups, whatever you want. In there you make two files called title.txt and picker.txt.You can make as many of these folders as you wish.2.1.1. The title.txtWell, here's where the welcome message goes. So if you want to say for instance, welcome to the wheel of games!  That's where you should put it.Note! all you need to do is write "The wheel of games!" not "welcome to" as the program already does that for you.2.1.2. Picker.txtHere, is where you put the list of things you want the program to pick from, separated by enter. For instance, say i want to pick from a list of fruits and the list contains apples, mangos, and bananas.  I'll open the picker.txt file in my text editor, and write:AppleMangoes.Bananas.Then save the file, and that's it-you're good to go!Now, when you open the program it is going to ask you the name of the folder it should look through to fetch those two files. Here, you can either enter the name directly, or just use your number row to pick one. It will give you the options, dont worry! In case the files aren't found or if they are empty, it will warn you as well.2.2 SpeachThanks to the idea of one of my amazingly awsome beta testers, the wheel now supports audio files! Here is how it works:2.2.1. StructureSo the idea is, instead of picking from a bunch of text contained in a file, the program will instead play a random file from a list of files(audio ) and so instead of using the boring old nvda with this program you could get your dog to record voice lines or something. To use this option, you hit s when prompted at the very begining, and if you hit any other key the program proseeds with the difault text mode.2.2.2. Title.mp3, or title.wavThis file, is the title of the wheel or the welcome message perhaps, same as title.txt above. You put this in randomness/foldername.2.2.2. SpeachThis folder, contains all the audio files that the program picks from. So in randomness/foldername/speach, you put  all the audiofiles you want the wheel to consider.Again, this supports either mp3 or wav.3. Ok, so all the prep is done. What then?Well? Fortunately, nothing! Well, not really anyway. After all the boring stuff is delt with, it should spin the wheel on its own and pick something random for you!Best thing of all? It will keep track of what you spun so if you hit y when asks you whether you would like to give it another go, it won't land on the same thing!Note! There's a 30-40 second timer after every spin. This is to prevent abuse as some people kept spinning and spinning till the wheel gave them what they wanted, which is not the point of this

Re: Azerbaijan and Armenia war

@aryamansinghMight I suggest getting off your high horse, and at least thinking about what you post? Cool the fuck off  bro(and yes the use of a ware there was deliberate), get over it.I do not usually use such words yet it does not in any way mean that people are entitled to your beliefs, people do it on the Internet and will continue to do so. You are neither anyone to tell them what to do nor are you in a position to judge them on that bases, because if you do then you're one of the most narrow-minded people I've seen and am ashamed to call you a fellow citizen. Like I stated above, people are entitled to their own views so I won't lash out at you trying to contradict whatever you said above because that isn't the point of this post. All I ask is do not ruin our already not perfect reputation of Indians being a bunch a hot-headed immature ass holes who do not know what they are doing half the time by sprouting controversy all over the place by saying whatever the hell you are saying. IMHO you're one of the people who brings personal bioss into the picture yet won't ever be able to make a proper judgement(especially with this whole Pakistan India situation) but like I said, keep it to your dammed self. Either bring up constructive points to discuss or shut up. Nobody needs to hear your personal feelings on the matter if they're only going to be well, personal feelings and criticism. Jesus, at least respect the fact that there's people of all ethnic backgrounds up  here(including Pakistanis). Can't you at least respect that factor when you talk? And, ashamed as I am, jaden is right I'm afraid. You're going on and on about this whole thing, making it sound like India is this big bed of flowers while Pakistan is full of demons or whatever. For the sake of humanity, stop. People like you are the reason there's so much conservatism in our society, so much closed mindedness, racism. And I don't care about  whatever reason you come up with after this post of mine so don't bother replying because I'm nearly certain it again will be full of personal biases and not actual, logical arguments. Sadly there are many foke like you, and not just in India too. Sigh, where is humanity headed these days.  .

Re: Disability versus ability

@cross that's exactly what i mean though. I'm not completely disregarding the truth, but yet interpretting the whole thing in a different way that i am blind, and yes "blind" not "differently abled or whatever else people say these days cause for some reason they think that it is disrespectful to say blind? I dont see how, we're blind, so we say that we're blind. But yeah, I'm blind but i'm capable of leading a normal life and not hold on to that one not being able to see factor and either sitting in a corner complaining and crying my entire life, nor being all entitled and demanding. I'm just trying to lead a normal life as much as I can.

Re: Disability versus ability

@lucasI'm afraid you might be generalising there a little bit. Yes I agree that for many (and probably a mejurity) of the people on here that may be the reason but its by far not 'all'-certainly not all blind people, for those stretch far beyond the extents of this forum. In my case, if and when i say, "Blindness is not a disability but a different way of looking at things," all I really mean is that I'm aware of what the disability is but when i change my way of referring to it, I do not try to change what it is but my mindset instead, and the mindset of others around me-and move on in life, trying to improve on the things that are indeed in  my control and trying to be a better human being day by-day and aasking the people to have similar expectations from me as well. So, essentially what you said, except it doesn't have to be the steriotype entitled blindy state of mind necessarily.
