I don't understand the big deal. If you don't like it, just leave your topic and it'll probably die eventually. If it's misinformation, edit the first post to point that out. If it's a pointless topic that you made by mistake, edit the first post to point that out. If it's in the wrong room, the mods will move it. If people are causing drama in it, I guess you can ask the mods to close it. If they don't close it at that point, I guess you should just learn to be responsible for starting a topic that spawned drama and if it came about thanks to somebody else, it's not your fault and probably won't reflect badly on you to the other parts of the community. I think if it bothers you, you're probably somebody who might end up misusing it.

@6I use Bitwarden, and I'd say it's a good middle ground in this case if you want an online, but opensource manager. If you want something more secure than that, considering that it's offline and also opensource, you could try Keepass. I have a hard time believing that you'd actually need more security than Bitwarden offers though and 99% of the time you're just being paranoid if you think that, but it's an option for anybody who does.

@8 You don't even need to reinvent the wheel. There are systems that would work out of the box, even more if we just reskinned them or whatever. But people never use those because at the end of the day they would rather do no work and be on a power trip for as long as their dumb forum remains relevant (probably only a few minutes or seconds) than do the work and create a community that people would actually like to be in.

People like Sterlock and Ironcross saying a new site should be started are so funny. I'll believe it will work when it actually works. Like I've said, it has never worked before, and it likely never will because this is pretty much the central source in this community for discussion of games. Also, Sterlock and Ironcross are two people that do not strike me as good people to be moderating either, so if either of them decided to start one I think it would die fast. Or it would just split the community, because very few people will care to check two forums and so people would just stick to one. I know I would.

I think the decision to take immediate action on the soundpack was dumb, but I also think this post is unnecessary. Like Defender said, how about you come up with a solution for it? Maybe we should figure out how many active members there are on the forum, create a pole asking them all if action should be taken on the moderation team somehow, and require at least 2/3 of those people to vote on the pole to make a decision for ourselves. Maybe someone should just start another forum, but do you really think a significant portion of the site will switch over to another forum? I don't. They never have before.

I don't think the restricted topic is for screening banned users, because if that was the case then every unrestriction would have to be accompanied by a full investigation which the mods certainly do not have time for. It was introduced because spambots made up for half of the posts on the forum at one point in time, and it was only later that Liam started cracking down on people using TOR or whatever.

Google's recaptcha has no issues for blind people. I've never had a problem filling one out. I just guess that the issue is the ever-present lack of webmasters. Also some people use vpns for all web browsing to evade tracking. I guess if you don't want to allow them that's your choice because I can see how it might look suspicious in some cases, but I've never seen a website do that before. Throwaway emails makes sence though, many websites prohibit those.

Allow creaters of posts and topics to click a delete link that replaces the contents of the post with placeholder text but does not delete the post or topic. That way, people know that a post has been deleted and understand that there may be gaps in conversation, and insures that mentions such as "@13" are not off by one post number.
