[Audiogames-reflector] Eamon Revolutions
Eamon Revolutions As we all know, the Wonderful World Of Eamon, was going to appear from the Dragon of Draconis one day as an "audio" adventure series, although it hasn't made its view to our world, and may possibly never will. Until that comes, a "new modern web-based" version of Eamon, has arrive! Eamon Revolutions, see The Wonderful Wiki of Eamon , which is currently at Alpha 6 at the time of this writing, brings the joy of Eamon to your web browser, as an HTML and _javascript_ application. Not all adventures will be ported to the web, the author states, as it would take too long, plus its more of a gateway for new comers, to try the "official!" ways to play Eamon, thus Eamon Deluxe, for example. Ready to dive in? Enter Eamon Revolutions, via via this mirro , as I have no idea if there are portals in Eamon yet. I still have a lot of venturing to do! Re: Eamon Revolutions Hello, I'm the author of Eamon Revolutions. If there is anything I can do to improve the gaming experience, please let me know. I'm not very familiar with the tools available to improve web application accessibility so any feedback is welcome and appreciated. The game is currently offline as I'm doing a ground-up rewrite of the code base which quickly became too large to manage in pure _javascript_.Dark, I'm curious as to what issue you had. You should have been able to create a character and play through the Beginner's Cave completely. What browser/version were you using?URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=156362#p156362 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Eamon Revolutions
Re: Eamon Revolutions Hi StepLogik,At a basic level browser games can be made more accessible just by using headings in appropriate places and by adding alt tags to images. At a more advanced level, which is I expect what Eamon Revolutions will need, you get into using aria tags in such a way that they control what is spoken through a screen reader.Definitely check out the aria-live HTML attribute here:https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/doc … ve_RegionsReading up on Aria in general is a good idea. For a good example of a working advanced accessible web based game check out Quentin C.'s Playroom here:http://www.qcsalon.net/If you are bold enough to test the game with a screen reader you can download the Windows NVDA screen reader for free here:http://www.nvaccess.org/Or use the "Voice Over" screen reader built into Mac OS.Quentin C would be a great person for you to ask questions of since he is the blind developer who created Quentin C.'s Playroom.I'm happy to help where I can with any further questions. I am blind and a developer, but have not made any web based games myself. Consider getting someone familiar with whatever screen reader you try to walk you through it over skype as using a screen reader has a steep learning curve. You can reach me directly at supp...@blindaudiogames.com.Very glad to see your interest in making the game more accessible.Ian ReedURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=156438#p156438 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Eamon Revolutions Thanks for the links, I'll read up on this and see if I can't make some improvements. It is going to be a while before I publish the next version but the UI is not going to change so I once I get a prototype I'll post it here so you guys can submit feedback. Thanks again!DerekURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=156597#p156597 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Eamon Revolutions
Re: Eamon Revolutions How complete is the thing? last I checked I could create a character, but nothing seemed to happen after that. Also, the author has stated few adventures are likely to be ported this way, though I suppose if it encourages someone to play Eamon deluxe all the better.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=144941#p144941 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Eamon Revolutions
Re: Eamon Revolutions Sadly, the web site doesn't have Aria in it, so it doesn't read things automatically. And I corrected the spelling of the word "mirror" in that first post.Actually playing that version, I wish was a bit more... HTML5-like.
