Re: A dialect of your language you cannot understand?

You don’t need to know a language to hear the difference between it.  I also know a small, and I mean small amount of Spanish. And even that is enough for me to hear the difference between most Spanish, and Chilean Spanish.    I’m also very familiar with Spanishs sound because I’ve been exposed to it my entire life.   For anyone asking the question that post for has, describe the sound of the dialect you cannot understand. And maybe give a couple examples of how things are different. For example, a word  or phrase in  a standard version of your language, and the word  or phrase  in that dialect you cannot understand.  Either that or grammatical differences.

Re: A dialect of your language you cannot understand?

Hi.I don't see how this topic can make sense, since the question is also about languages you don't know. There are dialekts in Danish, Swedish and in Norwegian which the native speakers find difficult to understand, depending on where people are coming from. I could bring you some examples, but it wouldn't make sense since you don't know the languages.

Re: A dialect of your language you cannot understand?

I can understand most accents, so its just down to words they might use, like local vernacular or slang that I just wouldn't know because I'm not from there.

A dialect of your language you cannot understand?

A dialect of your language you cannot understand?

I think for most common languages, most of the time you can understand someone who speaking a different dialect. So what are languages or dialects where this is not the case? Since I mostly only speak English, I can understand most  English dialects.  Where the line starts to become a little thin is English  creoles  and pigeons, although I don’t really think those are dialects. I know a bit about how different Spanish dialects sound. For example, I’ve heard from multiple Spanish speakers that the Spanish spoken in Chile is notorious for being hard to understand. But I can't find any clips of how it actually sounds. Someone please provide any thing if you happen to know of one.
